And sadly base ideas on emotions when they should base ideas on facts....here is one...When Obama was president and the democrats controlled both houses they didn't think of passing gun laws. But now that they don't control the houses they blame the Republicans. Sadly people form opinions by just reading the headline and not the story.....Sometimes you just have to say I don't know!!! People are also lazy and like to blame others for their problems...which makes the problem hard to solve and linger for the rest of their lives

It is but thats probably not the motive....The motive is probably this santa clause syndrome where people probably can't connect the dots...when unemployment is at record lows you should be running a surplus for when bad times arrive ....not spending money to get votes. the system is totally out of whack where debtors are rewarded and savers are punished with low interest rates....People are easily fooled.....lets pay people to stay at home then hire foreigners to work on farms to keep food prices low....Its all common sense...not convenient truths....The Piper needs to be paid.....and I'm Out....

Yes..... the Pandemic and economics fears are 2 different issues.....the pandemic fast forwarded the economic problem which is debt caused by government policy. Government has basically taken over the economy. There is no moral hazard for companies and individuals. They have spent a lot more money then probably had to spend.....I don't think people realize that the government has no money but the money they take from the people. I don't think that government debt, company debt and consumer debt all at astronomical levels is ill informed. I think its a reality and the consequences won't be fun...

Some people think we have unlimited resources (money is a resource) Money is a limited resource and what you spend in one area means you can't spend in another area. One way to look at the cost of the virus is all the money we spent to keep people at home doing nothing is a hole which will have to be filled in the future with people working to pay for it. What will probably happen is the Government will have less money for schools roads transit etc. Productivity has declined during the virus and so will our standards of living.

Canada's national debt out of control...
onlythetruthmatters replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The economic pain will be felt as soon as interest rates rise or the borrowing tap is shut off. This could be a lot sooner then anyone expects. I believe we are at the tipping point where spending will have to contract because revenue (taxes receipts) are going to drop longer term do to higher unemployment. When the government starts cutting the pain will be felt and the snowball will start getting bigger. -

First they took control of short term interest rates, Now Long term interest rates, there is no Price discovery. Borrowers are being rewarded savers punished the whole system is messed up. They now control a majority of the economy. Game over...We are at the start of a depression.
