  1. unfortunately the popes are human, and suffer from human failings. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Some popes forget that they are there to serve, and desire to be served instead. Sometimes they put what is good for the church ahead of what is good for the people. Great expectations don't always bring great results.
  2. There is no end to the list of peoples that have committed horrendous acts of inhumanity. There were the Persians, the Babylonians, the Egyptians, Romans, Mongols, Huns, Celts and the Vikings, to name a few. More recently there has been the Japanese Empire, the Nazis, the Stalinist Soviet Union, and Russia under Putin. The main thing that is common to all these, is a love of power that is greater than their compassion for their fellow man. This is not true of Jesus. He ministered to the poor, healed the sick, He accepted a tax collector as on of His disciples. When the people saw all that He had done, they wanted to make Him their king, but he refused, and hid from them. Many will call themselves Christians, but only those who live as He showed us we should, are part of His redeemed.
  3. You seem fond of telling a father that he can't forgive His children. He can.
  4. It is a father telling His children how to be safe.
  5. A sacrifice is giving up something of value for a higher purpose. It is also an admission of transgressions, and an effort to atone for them. It shows remorse, and was a means of supporting the priesthood who consumed the sacrifice once it was consecrated. It is in a way humerous that those who sacrifice nothing, and show no remorse criticize those who do.
  6. Hard to keep pigs healthy in the desert. They are wallowing animals that would foul the scarce water sources, and pigs that can't keep themselves cool by wallowing become ill, and parasite ridden.
  7. Some of it had to do with keeping the line of Abraham separate, some had to do with the lack of refrigeration.
  8. Scoffing at a scientific study just makes you look less intelligent.
  9. You may think that you have more credibility than the Misssouri State Medical Association, but you might have difficulty convincing others.
  10. This is from the Journal of the Missouri State Medical Association Near-Death Experiences Evidence for Their Reality Near-death experiences (NDEs) are reported by about 17% of those who nearly die.1 NDEs have been reported by children, adults, scientists, physicians, priests, ministers, among the religious and atheists, and from countries throughout the world. Near-death experiences often occur in association with cardiac arrest. Prior studies found that 10–20 seconds following cardiac arrest, electroencephalogram measurements generally find no significant measureable brain cortical electrical activity. A prolonged, detailed, lucid experience following cardiac arrest should not be possible, yet this is reported in many NDEs. This is especially notable given the prolonged period of amnesia that typically precedes and follows recovery from cardiac arrest. Seeing ongoing events from a location apart from the physical body while unconscious (out-of-body experience) A common characteristic of near-death experiences is an out-of-body experience. An out-of-body experience (OBE) is the apparent separation of consciousness from the body. About 45% of near-death experiencers report OBEs which involves them seeing and often hearing ongoing earthly events from a perspective that is apart, and usually above, their physical bodies. Following cardiac arrest, NDErs may see, and later accurately describe, their own resuscitation.
  11. If you think that you will be doing the casting, you are sadly mistaken. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6172100/
  12. So where does it stop. do we sacrifice 400,000,000 million Europeans? How about Africa? Are you a fan of Chamberlain, and peace in our time? He is a mad man, but there must be some sane people, around him that wouldn't let that happen. Sometimes you need to face your frar and do what is right. If he is willing to launch nukes giving him more power won't stop him.
  13. Science has expanded our understanding of the known universe immensely in the last 2 or 3 centuries. It has led to incredible advances in technology, and changed our lives in ways our predecessors could never dream of. It is so impressive that people have come to revere and trust it completely, that it has become the new religion. Science is limited to the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. If something can't be observed, or experimented on science believes that it doesn't exist. Man has always known that we are more than a physical body with central processing unit. We always recognised that man had a spirit that was the source of life. Science now denies this, and it's followers wear this ignorance as a badge of honor. "
  14. These passages don't condone, or encourage slavery. Slavery was not a choice for these people, but how they lived their lives was. Allowing yourself to become resentful or bitter is more harmful to you than your oppressor. Spartacus led a rebellion with the best armed, and best trained slaves in all of the Roman Empire, and it didn't end well.
  15. It is touching to see the heroism of the Ukrainian people. What I don't get is why it is okay for Russian planes to violate a foreign airspace to kill civilians, but wrong for nato forces to enter the same airspace to stop the killers. The argument that Putin would see this as an act of war, and respond by expanding the war doesn't hold water. He is pretty much extended as far as he can go. It costs a lot of money. to support 150,000 troops in a foreign country, and money is something that Russia is hemorrhaging at an alarming rate. Morale is low among soldiers, and increasingly among the populace as well. trying to expand the war would almost certainly result in a total collapse of the Russian economy, and I think that Putin sees i that too.
  16. By taking care of others in need. By treating others with respect and being a good neighbour. If you are not a good neighbour, you won't like the neighbours you end up with.
  17. He showed us the way, and your disrespect of him looks bad on you.
  18. It is so sad that people are so wrapped up in the existence of Jesus, that they miss the message he brought. It is not what you believe that is important, but how you live, and how you treat your fellow man. If everyone learned the teachings of Jesus, and tried to live as he taught us to, the world would be a better place.
  19. Glad you have figured that horse and cart thing, the horseless carriage is more suited for my defective thinking, because it is already figured out for you. “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Forgiveness for forgiveness, I’ll take some of that. You should give it a try.
  20. I prefer forgiveness to judgement. You can't ask for forgiveness for yourself, and judgement for others. If you are okay with judgement, roll with that. Hope it works out better for you than I suspect it will.
  21. Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Looks like you need a little work on that one. Matthew 7:1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Can't see that one going your way either.
  22. Seems that you missed the part about forgiveness. 2 Corinthians 5:19 God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. ( I am thinking that this doesn't look good for you) Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” You don't die for sins that are forgiven,
  23. You think That God can not forgive and redeem His children, you are wrong. You think that you are the boss, you are wrong. You think that you have some kind of creibility, you are wrong. Strike 3, you are out.
  24. That is not it at all. When man chose to know good and evil it, it became necessary for God to separate those who choose good from those who choose evil. Do unto others is the means of sorting. Disobedience caused a rift between man and God, Jesus is the bridge that brings the redeemed back.
