Mark Carney's cllimate change fanaticism laid bare.
Iceni warrior replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ah, this is the point where I list things like flying away for a fortnight on a beach and gas guzzling SUVs and then you accuse me of being a freedom hating fascist. Think I'll pass. Instead, you could have a little think about what you could do to reduce your own carbon footprint. -

Well, an ice free North pole may well be a good thing for the Canadian economy. A North-West passage between China and Europe. Won't be very good for polar bears or most of the world's capital cities sitting at near sea level. -

Eventually, one way or another. Either we voluntarily accept a declining standard of living for the sake of the climate or climate chaos will impose one on us anyway. Floods, wildfires, crop failures, hurricanes and storms. All bad for the economy. -

Keep it in church preacher! This is a thread about climate change. Magical space fairies have no place in it. -

https://www.safeguardglobal.com/resources/top-10-manufacturing-countries-in-the-world/#:~:text=China – 31.6% Global Manufacturing Output,-China has the&text=It is the top manufacturing,China's economic activities in 2023. According to Chat GPT between 40% and 45% of Chinese production is exported. It would be difficult to correlate the % of emissions to the % of exports (steel exports, for example, will produce a lot more CO2 than bamboo place mats) but you can almost halve China's emissions once you take exports into account.. -

Man has changed the climate. That's how we got here. God was created by man to control the population. He doesn't actually exist. -

Yes but a huge proportion of those greenhouse gas emissions are a result of manufacturing exports. If I cut down a tree to build a shed in your garden who is responsible for the tree being cut down? -

Of course. The best possible thing for the climate would be a world wide depression. Companies shutting down production and closing. Wouldn't be the best thing for the world's population but perpetual growth is no more sustainable than perpetual motion. -

All in the push for perpetual growth. Capitalism is the enemy of climate change. Consumerism is the cause of global warming. -

China leads the world in green energy. Both in terms of manufacturing the most solar panels and wind turbines but also in power produced by wind, solar and hydro. -

A large portion of China's emissions are Western emissions. The West has exported it's manufacturing and therefore it's emissions for the sake of the bottom line. Ever since Thatcher proclaimed ''there is no alternative'' (to globalisation) we have been exporting our carbon footprint. China's emissions aren't fine, they are ours and we need to own up to it rather than blaming China for it. -
The statue of Rhodes at Oxford University was agreed by the college's governing body to be removed. However after an inquiry the governing body decided it was a waste of money (removal and legal fees) to do it so instead they put up a board explaining the controversy and used some of the charity funds to set up DEI scholarships for Black Academic Futures and fund research endeavours with the British Zimbabwe Research Society.

I know, Britain and France took it off the Germans in WWI and then split it into east and west with the British half eventually choosing to join the commonwealth nation of Ghana. It's a great flag though. Not the only one to contain an elephant either. Another constituent part of Ghana, the Gold Coast had one too.
