Canada's Involvement in Syria
olp1fan replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
and here is your pravda http://english.pravda.ru/world/asia/13-05-2011/117907-Russia_refuses_to_cooperate_on_Syria-0/ The Russian Foreign Minister expressed his concern "about the fact that the reconciliation process, the dialogue process is being hampered." The Syrian opposition "wants to stop the process of dialogue in order to appeal to foreign forces that support their actions," Lavrov stressed. According to Lavrov, the western operation against the government of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi can stimulate and encourage opponents in other countries where rioters or terrorists formenting social unrest request foreign military intervention. The Russian executive, who has expressed his rejection of the recent military intervention led by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) against Libya, refuses to cooperate with the West in an attempt to pressure the Syrian government. -

theres dozens of articles saying the same thing all you have to do is google it http://www.aljazeerah.info/News/2011/March/20%20n/Reactions%20to%20US-Led%20Attacks%20on%20Libya%20from%20Qadhafi,%20African%20Union,%20China,%20Russia,%20March%2020,%202011.htm Russia regrets military actions against Libya MOSCOW, March 19, 2011 (Xinhua) -- Russia regretted the military intervention led by foreign countries in Libya, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in a Saturday statement. Lukashevich also said the military actions against Libya was based on a "hastily passed" UN Security Council resolution. "In Moscow, we regret this armed action within the hastily passed UNSCR Resolution 1973," the statement said. The Resolution 1973 authorizes the use of force and the creation of a no-fly zone in Libya, where rebels and the government have been clashing for several weeks. The statement also called for a cease-fire in the north African country as soon as possible. Editor: Mu Xuequan -
Canada's Involvement in Syria

Actually the Russian people support Syrian people and its unclear who is for the revolution and who is not ..and they hate NATO I don't know where you get your information from Derek but the whole world doesn't love us dude What does ipods and Nike have to do with NATO? most of that is made in Asian sweatshops btw as for Russia supporting the Libya mission ... http://rt.com/news/libya-intervention-russian-reaction/ The Russian Foreign Ministry is urging the international forces and the Gaddafi regime to do everything they can to stop civilian suffering, and agree an immediate ceasefire, describing the military action in Libya as regrettable. Russian officials have steadily been against any foreign intervention into Libya’s domestic affairs, saying the West should let such turmoil-gripped countries choose their own way of development. Russia urges the coalition forces to stop the attack on civilians, Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich said in a statement on Sunday. “We insist that the [parties involved in the operation] stop the indiscriminate use of force,” Lukashevich said. As for what Russia said about Iraq http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/mar2003/russ-m29.shtml Only hours after the first American missiles landed on Iraqi territory, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a public declaration, condemning the onset of the US invasion as a “great political error.” Derek, here's some advice, don't believe all of the pro western bias you hear especially when its about the eastern part of the world -

Canada's Involvement in Syria

we won't intervene in Syria but not because of reasons you suggest, right now Russia is in the beginning stages of a Russian winter meaning Russia is finally vocalizing their disgust of their government ..the Russian people have been supportive of Syria for years and paranoid of NATO for many more years... you do not want to give the Russian people a chance to back this government because Putin will see this as an opportunity to get his support back if NATO invades Syria it would be utterly stupid -
apparently fronting a hundred soldiers and a few higher ranking officers for a few select missions = canada being hypocritical don't listen to the spin ...she also said canada helped the iraq war by taking a bigger role in afghanistan so U.S could move U.S troops into Iraq these people really are reaching to make canada seem like it 100 % took part

Reflection on Pearl Harbor Day

AW your country still thinks the terrorists came into the U.S from Canada because your politicians have told them so and they had not retracted their comments when they were corrected That sums up the U.S perfectly to me I see no reasons why the U.S should not be criticized their government lies like no other for instance during the 1980s The Soviets shot down a South Korean airplane on Soviet soil ...U.S aired some of the black box tape on TV...and cut out the parts where the Soviets asked 3 times who they were ...all silent three times...they did not air those beginning seconds to the world and the world thought it was deliberate when the Soviets tried making contact with the Airplane multiple times ..well everyone knows what would happen next in most countries given that situation ...shot down kaboom http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air_Lines_Flight_007 I can spout out a million examples of the U.S government lying to the world while you AW can only do so not even a handful of times about Canada -
Harper said he'd never negotiate with terrorists and his party even gave Jack Layton a nickname "Taliban Jack" yet wikileaks has shown us that his government indeed paid ransom to terrorists to free a few Canadians which pissed off the U,S and other countries You can't really trust what any PM says http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/canada-paid-ransom-to-free-envoys-wikileaks-cables-show/article2178811/ But every time you bring up Iraq you're clearly trying to say Canada did just as much as the U.S did ..well they didn't we provided a hundred or so troops among other little things for select missions ...that is A LOT different than putting thousands of troops onto Iraqi soil

Time to pull provincial funding for Catholic schools?
olp1fan replied to olp1fan's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
we could turn the catholic schools into public schools so there wouldn't be need to close them -
Actually my view point falls into that of Deists I believe in a supreme being but I reject the idea that the supreme being interferes in anyone's lives and I also reject organized religion yesh I'd say I'm more of a Deist

I read an article from the Globe and Mail a few days back ..not sure if McSquinty is thinking about it but do you think its time to pull provincial funding for catholic schools? I believe so! There should be no funding for religious schools in a secular society just my opinion what is yours? edit: I believe there are provinces who have pulled funding for Catholic schools

That is quite rich coming from someone who comes onto a Canadian topical form to spout their Anti Canadian opinions I guess we're both hypocritical

Yeah, and it makes me wonder if the Bush snubbing Chretien for the few years after was really just meant for the Canadian public's perception like just for show..I read a wikileaks cable that talked of someone telling Bush not to be too friendly to Harper because it would rub Canada the wrong way to be so buddy buddy with the U.S
