Nope. They're going up - but it'll be OK. Don't be scared. We'll all be dead by the time you find out how silly this whole scam has been.

The IPCC is scrambling to make a splash before the money for AGW grants and studies completely runs out. Which brings us back to articles like this: Link: https://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/energy-environment/292013-since-the-mid-1800s-climate-has-changed-more-or-less

America under President Trump
Centerpiece replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I ask this question honestly because I'm not that familiar with the inner workings of either party. Bernie Sanders barely lost the nomination battle to Hillary Clinton. Some would say he was robbed. By American standards, Bernie was a socialist. The Democrats seem to be bereft of leadership, policies and direction - but appear to have shifted more the the Left due to the Bernie factor. If there is a Traditional/Socialist rift in the party, how serious is it? -
Ford-Kavanaugh Sexual Assault Allegation

Kavanaugh could have avoided all of this if he had only taken his cue from Justin Trudeau.............. “There’s a lot of uncertainties around this. In terms of my recollection there was no untoward or inappropriate action but she was in a professional context. Who knows where her mind was and I fully respect her ability to experience something differently.” -

"Neither his career nor his family seems to have been ruined at all.". Unbelievable - can't think of a response for that one. Gorsuch was not the swing judge that gives ultimate sway to Conservative opinions on the Supreme Court. Do not forget that the Democrats said they would do anything and everything to prevent Kavanuagh's confirmation. Kavanaugh passed all previous FBI backgrounders and all the one-on-one hearings. It was only the Ford allegation that raised these further allegations. Kavanaugh was not evasive about his drinking - he said he drank beer and there were times that he had too many. What else would you expect him to say? Is there a time in his past that he could be construed to be surly after having too many. Once, twice? Maybe. Or maybe, just maybe - those few who now say he was a bad drinker have their own biases, jealousies or whatever. What's dishonest about saying he had too many at parties every now and then? Don't you think the FBI backgrounders covered most of those kinds of accusations? People who supposedly drink so much that they black out or can't remember or become belligerent have an obvious drinking problem. Has Kavanaugh's lifelong actions indicated that such a problem exists? No. Back to the Democrats. They threw Ford under the bus - and backed up over her. She wanted everything confidential. They sat on her story. They leaked her letter at the last minute. They provided an activist lawyer for her who unbeknownst to Ford, did not pass on Grassley's invitation to go and meet with her. It was more than politics. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOr808UXOgE -
Ford-Kavanaugh Sexual Assault Allegation

I ask you honestly.....if you were completely innocent......and all this stuff was dumped on you - ruining your lifelong career, your family.....knowing that they sat on the accusation for well over a month instead of investigating.......knowing that they waited till the last moment to spring it on the committee.......knowing that somebody leaked the Ford letter that was supposed to be private and confidential......knowing that the democrats referred her to their chosen activist lawyers.....knowing that these same lawyers did not tell her that Grassley had offered to meet her request of going to California to question her in private.....knowing that the Julie Swetnick accusations were so outrageous that even the major print media couldn't bring themselves to run with it......knowing all this and more - and knowing you were innocent - yet seeing your life being dragged through the mud.......would you not be emotionally pissed? As I said before, the only way he could have remained "cool" is if he was guilty. You're entitled to your opinion of course - and I've been in agreement with you on several other issues - but on this one, I think you're way off base. My opinion of course. -
I've always admired the substantial knowledge that he has - and how clearly he articulates it. Click on the link for the full excerpt. It's a long read but quite fascinating - so settle back with a tea or coffee for 20 minutes: The rise of populism — on this continent and beyond — has drawn condemnation from across the political spectrum. But as former prime minister Stephen J. Harper argues in this exclusive excerpt from his new book, Right Here, Right Now: Politics and Leadership in the Age of Disruption, the so-called “deplorables” who have voted establishment figures out of office deserve a careful hearing. Their concerns point to deep problems with globalization — and they aren’t going away. Link: https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/exclusive-stephen-harper-book-excerpt

Why are you trolling this forum with such emotion? We're Canadians. We're watching for the fun of it. -
Given that, wouldn't it make more sense to give them as much of our oil or gas as possible - to at least reduce the impact of their coal? Oh, I forgot - we can't get it to them. Why eco-nuts continue to beat up on Canada is either the sheer lunacy of zeolots - or a conspiracy by US interests to use activists as pawns to keep our oil in the ground so as not to compete with American interests. Could be both.

I'm a Canadian - so I don't have an emotional investment in this debacle - only an almost humorous interest in the sordid Trump and anti-Trump politics that play out through the various partisan factors. In a detached fashion, I can see a personally abhorrent - but surprisingly effective President - fighting a spoiled, arrogant, rudderless group of so-called Democrats. Again - in a detached fashion, what I see is the media and democrats expending a huge amount of effort (and money) to track down any and all evidence of anything even slightly dubious in Kavanaugh's statements or his background - and yet next to zero effort to bring to light the lack of corroboration in Ford's testimony. You can bet that Democrats and the media have searched high and low to find somebody, anybody, anything that could help corroborate her story. Yet there's nothing - and as the story unfolds, several of her statements that helped yo weave the story, are unraveling. As for Kavanaugh's temperament - how would you react if your career, family life and integrity were being ruined by something that wasn't true? I'm a pretty calm guy - but I couldn't just be cool about it - unless I was guilty. -

Imagine Justin Trudeau having to go through a similar committee grilling about Rose Knight to confirm his fit for PM. What do you think a mean-spirited group like these Democrats would be able to dig up. Drunken parties? Check. Drug use? Check. Sexual inappropriateness? Check. Other sexual encounters? Anything's possible when all it takes are uncorroborated stories. Lying about his education qualifications? Well, he has - so.....check. And all this is already known without any serious digging and aggressive questioning. How many "ers" and "ums" do you think we'd be hearing? Just an example of how easy it is to ruin someone's life. Of course, Trudeau is only the Prime Minister of Canada. Lots of hypocrites trolling the forum. -

No need Michael - here's everything you'll need. Can we expect an apology from you? Then again, what am I thinking! Here's the original questions from the Democrat - where Kavanaugh is rightly scratching his head trying to figure out where the "Gotchya" will come from.... https://globalnews.ca/video/4430586/kavanaugh-asked-if-he-discussed-russia-probe-with-anyone-from-trumps-lawyers-firm Here's the follow up question that allows Kavanaugh to fully clarify his answer - clear as a big, fat bell. https://globalnews.ca/video/4430909/kavanaugh-says-he-does-not-recall-conversations-about-mueller-at-trumps-lawyers-law-firm .....and here's the legal firm in question - "corroborating" everything Kavanaugh said. Give your torch and pitchfork a rest Michael. Trump lawyer Marc Kasowitz denies Kavanaugh ever spoke to anyone at the firm about Mueller probe, contradicting Sen. Kamala Harris claim "There have been no discussions regarding Robert Mueller's investigation between Judge Kavanaugh and anyone at our firm," a spokesman for Marc Kasowitz said in a statement first provided to CNBC on Thursday. Kasowitz, a personal attorney for President Donald Trump, threw cold water on Sen. Kamala Harris' questioning of Brett Kavanaugh, denying he had any contact with his firm, Kasowitz Benson Torres. Harris had grilled Kavanaugh on Wednesday about whether he had any contact with members of Kasowitz's firm regarding Mueller's special counsel investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russian operatives during the 2016 presidential election. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/06/marc-kasowitz-denies-kavanaugh-ever-spoke-to-anyone-at-his-firm.html -

You are so lasered in on that one article you provided that proposed that he lied. You know - the one where the author twists himself in knots trying to twist Kavanaugh's words - that you don't see the irony of your claims. Ford has provided ZERO facts that can be verified - NOTHING other than a story that everyone denies ever happening. It's impossible to prove beyond a doubt that she is lying - because she provides no facts. Kavanaugh on the other hand, has provided reams of statements in his attempt to disprove an uncorroborated story. Lost in all this is the overt bias (Trump hating) that continues to manifest itself. It's not about being "pro-Ford" or "pro-Kavanaugh". If Ford's story had a basis in reality - just a few credible details and one credible corroborating account would probably swing it - Kavanuagh's appointment would and should be in serious jeopardy. But there is nothing - absolutely nothing. Yet even here in Canada for heaven's sake, there are still people armed with torches and pitchforks. Incredible. -

Finally - a coherent presentation of facts - not emotion, not partisanship, not bias, not vengeance - just facts.....and her summary says it all: In the legal context, here is my bottom line: A 'he said, she said' case is incredibly difficult to prove. But this case is even weaker than that. Dr. Ford identified other witnesses to the event, and those witnesses either refuted her allegations or failed to corroborate them. For the reasons discussed below, I do not think that a reasonable prosecutor would bring this case based on the evidence before the Committee. Nor do I believe that this evidence is sufficient to satisfy the preponderance-of-the-evidence standard. -

Pretty incompetent "rapist". He couldn't even get her bathing suit off. Not kidding. -
They know what they are paid to know. Tons of funding to look for human-induced global warming. By golly, when you pay someone to look for something, chances are they will find it! Give them grants to prove that natural warming dwarfs CO2 - and dollars to donuts - they'll produce study after study that "proves" it. The current phase of Climate Change has seen the world warming for over 150 years with its usual sawtooth like ups and downs. Sure we've added a teensy bit with our land management and CO2 - but it's downright embarrassing - if not depressing - to see all the lunkheads running around shouting "Climate Change is Real!" - ignorant of how the Climate System works. Send every human (and cows with their farts) to outer space - and the world will still be warming (or cooling) - on its own schedule. You're just not as important as you think you are.

The author of your article tries to be very anal in parsing his version of Kavanaugh's statements - yet he obliterates his credibility in his opening tirade where he says: On Thursday morning, before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Christine Blasey Ford detailed under oath her claim that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh attacked her and sexually violated her when he was 17. Ford's statements claim that she was sexually assaulted - not violated.......a big difference. Her claim was that Kavanaugh tried to take her clothes off (a bathing suit). Keep that in mind as the author twists himself in knots trying to twist Kavanaugh's words into knots. -

To ensure that an investigation that should never have been needed - gets done in a timeframe that doesn't give credibility to the obstructionist goals of the Democrats. Lets not forget - this is an accusation which has ZERO corroboration. While Ford asserts she remembers going up the stairs, what the room looks like, that the bathroom was across the hall - and who the perpetrators were......she doesn't know when it happened, where it happened, how she got there, and how she got home. I mean really, how do you think this would have played with an Obama nominated judge if this had unfurled the way it has? -
Give us a break, for heaven's sake! As per this article and many like it - literally trillions of dollars have been invested in "Green Energy". To what end? The shrill alarmists - predicting Armageddon at every turn - say we have to do more! For what? Get a grip man. Give yourself a shake! Any REAL catastrophe facing the world (if it ever came) would be met well before its damage is done - with the full commitment of the scientific community - REAL scientists - and REAL results.

Reefer - I looked back but couldn't find the specifics of what you consider to be "lies" that Kavanaugh made. To avoid being a raving hypocrite could you give me a couple of instances where he lied? I find your claim confusing because as he was being questioned, Kavanaugh himself said if he wasn't telling the truth, he'd be subject to criminal prosecution.
