On the other "other hand", the information you posted lumped all visible minorities together and compared them to Caucasians - but ended by saying "Among visible minority offenders, Black offenders tend to exhibit more problem areas than Asian or “other visible minority” offenders.". So I think it's fair to say you've supported my argument to some extent - but as you suggested, I think those usual suspects would just ignore that line.
-
If there were 100 dysfunctional white families with 10 criminals and 100 dysfunctional black families with 10 criminals - how could anyone ignore that equality? I'd hazard a guess that's not what you'd find whether it be compared to whites, Asian, South Asian, Middle East or whatever. As I said - these 78 criminals would be a great sample to profile - because until you do the work, it's all just anecdotal - and that's a shame.

1) I must admit, I don't know if a socialogist is the right skillset or not - I just through it out there. The important thing is to gather the raw facts - just the facts or as you say - information gathering. 2) I can of course, honestly say I would agree with the facts. Phase 2 is to compare those findings against other segments of society. Can't see where I could disagree with any of that either. 3) Blindly and quite frankly stupidly - claiming that systemic racism is to blame for the over-representation of Blacks in the justice system just perpetuates the very real problems that exist. 4) Issues with Canada's Black community are not based on US historical injustices or inner-city decay - they are imported from crime ridden Caribbean countries - mostly Jamaican. I do not feel good about writing these things - but I am totally frustrated with the absence of facts - if not truth - in dealing what has clearly been in front of us for decades.

I don't think it takes any imagination to determine the colour of most, if not all of these gang-bangers. This would be a perfect opportunity for a sociologist to profile each and every one of them - family make-up, education, countries of origin, etc. Most people - obviously including me - have pre-conceived notions that most gun crime in the GTA is black-on-black with root causes in the Baby-Mom culture and absentee fathers - mostly stemming from crime-ridden Caribbean countries with a systemic single-parent cultural bias. Call out the hand-wringers who whine about blacks being over-represented in the justice system. Get the facts - do the work - tell the truth - and work to stop the violence.....for the sake of the overwhelming, vast majority of the Black community that just wants to get on with their lives.

You'd be tempted to write it off as a trivial matter but it goes to the matter of either his arrogance or the incompetence of the people around him. After all, he was put on severe notice already with the Agha Khan fiasco. What is so difficult about having a process in place for receiving any gifts?

It's not "the point of the whole thing" as you can clearly see from the policy objectives below - although reducing use by youth is one of the goals. Link: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/legalization-marijuana-policy-1.4503409

That was another of my concerns. If the corner dealer only got a slap on the wrist when it was illegal, how minor will the judicial consequences be when when it's legal?

Justin Trudeau wrecking Federalism
Centerpiece replied to capricorn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Absolutely amazing. Equalization usually gets a lot of play in the media - and what have we heard? Nothing....crickets. Even the provinces seem unaware. This government gets just about everything wrong - with a good dollop of arrogance added in. -
One of my concerns is whether the DDs will end up providing "the good stuff" - more potency. Do you think government will get into a spiraling potency game with illegal pot? That wouldn't look good. But that's why I think we haven't seen the end of the Black Market. That darn law of unintended (but totally foreseeable) consequences.

My comment was more tongue in cheek even though Islam is far more "conservative" than your typical Canadian Christians - you'd have to search far and wide to find any of those fanatics you are speaking of. I hope you are right about Muslims who have come to Canada. Islam demands that faith be intertwined with the State. Hopefully, most of our Canadian Muslims came here to escape that type of oppression.
-
Until the Canadian Muslim population reaches 10 million, I don't think you'll have to worry about that.

You are one scary poster.........

I really do think it boils down to just an element of human biology. No real need to make a big deal of it anymore. It's all genetics - and it should be taught as such - in the proportion that it deserves. To the kids: "you've seen people with red hair.....these people comprise 2% of the population. People with blue eyes? 8% of the population. There are also Gay people who are - through their genetic make-up - attracted to their own sex. Our best estimate is about 5% - or one out of 20. Whether it's red hair - or blue eyes - or being Gay - it's all part of how we are put together. Keep it simple - kids will figure it out.

The eco-nuts will openly tell you that their goal is to change behaviour and to do that, they have to make "bad" behaviour hurt - as in "it's going to cost you". And the poor get hit the most - they are the ones who can least afford it. So as a first step, let's digest that. While they say one alternative is to return all the money to the taxpayer - including the poor - that defeats their purpose of changimng bad behaviour....because the poor get money back - and the rich can afford to pay extra. So digest that part. Now comes the kicker. Governments say they will use the revenues for "green initiatives" - just trust them. Sure. It's just a game of "hide the pea". Investing in transit is "green" - but that's the job of government to begin with - keep people moving! Toronto is still looking for subways. But they don't want to spend the money - because of all the other money they are wasting and want to continue wasting. So instead of using our tax money wisely to build transit - they slip it in the back door through Cap & Trade - or whatever scheme they decide to try to fool us with. It's all a shell game - it's just a tax. There's only one behaviour that has to be changed - government spending. Get back to basics.
-
You got that right! There's a whole context that's missing. We want our children to be non-discriminatory but if "normalizing" is the goal - a sense of proportion is required so that kids know that this type of genetic/hormonal make-up, to the best of our current knowledge, occurs only in about 5% of the population.........but it's as normal as red hair or green eyes (2% of the population).
-
Not at the expense of nightmares for 95% of the children who will not experience any of this stuff.

Seems our "announcement" came a little late:

Don't want to start a new thread but since you mentioned Kathleen Wynne and Ontario's sex-ed, I thought I'd add this anecdote. The 9 year old daughter of a close friend came home from school last week and frantically wanted to speak with her mother - but in her room with the door closed so nobody could hear. I'm paraphrasing but in her own words, this is what she told her Mom. In her health class, the teacher had told her that people have hormones and chemicals in their brains that can turn a man into a woman or a woman into a man. This could happen at any time of their life. This poor 9 year old was frightened that she was going to wake up as a man. Talk about nightmares!!! They also covered physical elements like "penises can be small and large. Luckily, the young girl and her Mom had a good relationship and was able to talk it through - other kids might not be so lucky.

Conservative byelection win in Quebec

Interesting. I like Ford's "aspirations" at this stage of the tenuous Ontario.Canada/Global economic and fiscal position. How he selects and manages his team - and how much he listens to them will be the telling point. I'm a little on the fence with Andrew Scheer - he certainly has room to grow. I find him a little rushed in his delivery - needs to be a tad more deliberate - he can get a little excitable. If he falls by the wayside, my choice would be Rona Ambrose if she chose to run - wish she would have been able to run for the leadership the first time. As things stand now, there is a very real chance that Trudeau may be one and done. -

They really were just unproven allegations but yes - your opinion of Ford is now coarsely clear. You detest the man. Got it. -
Here in Canada, we have an opportunity to make a big difference in global emissions by sending oil to China to displace some of their coal - but the Social Justice gang (AKA Eco-Nuts) want one thing only - to keep fossil fuels in the ground. They won't of course, howl at the US or China - just Canada - the Sucker Nation.

Ford was never charged, let alone convicted. All just rumours. If you think the rumours have credibility, then you might want to consider giving credibility to the Trudeau Groping Affair - which at least was reported in a newspaper. That's the trouble with rumours and innuendo - it can cut both ways. -
Getting crazier and crazier.......

OK - don't get too stressed. As I suspected, you've run off half-cocked again. It was a warning - not a downgrade of credit.......and if you are as concerned as your accusation implied, you should get behind the new administration to help get our books in order. Point of order - it's not a good idea to so overtly misrepresent things - Fake News is not welcome here.
