  1. The longer wave vhf's detect teh target and then "coach" the short wave vhf's to guide the missile to the target.
  2. vhf radar scans can already see the 35.
  3. I know the purpose. I also get your drivel that you don't seem to get that it doesn't work as it has already been hacked.
  4. That's as I've just explained what the government is proposing to do.
  5. Yep, and we already know how to fly 'em and fix 'em, so just bring on a few new shiny ones.
  6. The point being you don't need so called first strike capability, and what appears to be a rather questionable stealth mode to patrol your own territory. A Super Hornet will do that just fine, and will be a bit of a comfort to pilots knowing they have two engines especially when you are out over the frozen tundra many miles from any suitable airport.
  7. Actually under the CPC, the CBC budget was regularly cut, possibly due to the fact Harper didn't like, and was afraid of the press. Hopefully now that will improve and we can look forward to some new programming, especially on my favorite, radio.
  8. I think spending huge sums of taxpayers money is usually considered "political". Especially if you waste it on things we don't need.
  9. Public Services and Procurement Canada has opened a new office to determine our requirements. I suspect first strike and stealth will not top the list.
  10. I suspect defining requirements before committing to major purchases is simply a sensible way, and can't be claimed by any particular nation.
  11. Might be an idea. As you say we don't know for sure if we will even need pilot's seats in our a/c for all that long. Diefenbaker did get kind of sucked into the idea back in the Arrow days, but a lot of technology has been developed since then.
  12. That remains to be seen but so far a new program has been initiated to define our actual requirements. Perhaps that should have been done a long time ago eh.
  13. Maybe you should wait and see what effect the (needed) infrastructure has on the economy. A bump there and a bump in the price of oil and the previous liars will remain in opposition come 2019.
  14. Which will likely continue whether or not the 35 is successful in a proper competition.
  15. And likely ended by one. (PM Trudeau).
  16. So would you prefer then that the government can tell people who they can and cannot marry, at the same time suggesting "lefties" want totalitarianism, and am I not simply seeing yet another inconsistency from a "rightie"?
  17. What planes is that? A few Herc's and 4 C 17's. How many do you think were procured under Trudeau, and how many years and how much money has Harper piddled away on the F 35 debacle?
  18. Well I think a competition for the spending of such huge amounts of taxpayer money, with the intent to provide our military with proper equipment, is neither a joke or a pretense. But then, I'm Canadian.
  19. That's assuming they exceed the guidelines of the competition.
  20. Oh it looks like there is still a lot of life in the Super Hornet production line.
  21. All will be revealed in the fullness of time.
  22. And perhaps if you read the article you would see they plan to re evaluate based on the firming of Canada's requirements. Pretty much indicates they will come to the competition party, which I'm sure the GoC will welcome.
  23. Again, billions for a plane that is reported can't turn, can't accelerate, and can't hide. You go ahead and slap your money on the table for that kind of (lack of) performance if you want. I'll look forward to how the competition turns out first.
  24. I think you have slid well off topic here haven't you.
  25. Trying to single source bomb trucks turned out to be quite an embarrassment, especially after the auditor general got done with him.
