Just consider Alabama with its recent decision to punish doctors who perform abortions. And did you know that Harper imposed his view of abortion on third-world countries? Ask yourself what conservative politician or Christian voter wouldn't find it acceptable to impose their morality when it comes to gay marriage, gay sex, transsexuals and transvestites? And what of right-wing dictatorships - are they any less prone to morality policing their version of morality than China? Who is it a problem for? Primarily other Muslims, whether its death via terror attack or death by an ignorant mob or government. But your solution, and Argus' and others on here is to target Muslims to deny as many as possible an escape from that, to highlight Muslim crimes here as inherent to all Muslims, even though most Muslims never make the news for crime - to which the response is generally that 'authorities' are misleading us about Muslim criminality". If I was on a discussion forum with people who said things like 'Western culture is barbaric and Godless, they want to subjugate all Muslims, take over our country and destroy our culture' I would be pointing out to them how full of shit they are. If they constantly made a point of posting violent news stories about attacks on Muslims and Muslim nations, designed to demonize Westerners as a whole, I would post news stories about their own atrocities in reply. No doubt they would attack me as eagerly as you, Argus and DoP do. The one advantage I have here is that I am not banned; I would be by an anti-Western forum. You seem to think that hatred and terrorism are the sole purview of Muslims, that they must all apologize and make amends for. Mainstream Islam does not condone violence, which you'd understand if you considered that there are more 1.5 billion Muslims in the world and more than 1.4999 billion of them are not violent. Your logic would have you defining Christians as gay-killers because some Christians from African countries and even fewer Christians from Western countries kill gay people.

In BC, social assistance won't even get you a place to live. Disability is slightly better, but not "easy living" by any stretch.

Perhaps that was Wes's point, but since immigrants get the *same* (or sometimes less) benefits as people born in this country, and since many people in this country do not think our social support system does enough for those born here, how would we justify reducing support to refugees/immigrants? Is there an upside to reducing social support systems so that even more people/families/seniors are homeless and desperate? In any case, immigrant unemployment runs at 6.4%, 1.4% more than the unemployment among people born in Canada as a whole. Clearly, most immigrants gain employment, just as most Canadians gain employment. The argument that "immigrants come to Canada because they are lazy, don't want to work and only want to collect because our social support system is so generous" is simply not accurate. Certainly, some immigrants will 'take advantage', just as some people born here 'take advantage'. However, most people - born here or not - want to work and provide for themselves and their families.

Lots of religious people are dumb. (Some) Christians spent years boycotting Proctor and Gamble because they thought the logo had satanic symbolism.

I am often surprised by what men say to each other that they'd never say to me. I imagine its the same with Hindu men, Sikh men, Italian men, Spanish men. I just don't happen to believe that Muslim men hold some special monopoly on misogyny.

I have neither denied Islamic terrorism nor defended it; I merely refused to give a garbage website any credence. And as mentioned, this topic isn't about terrorism.

This topic isn't about that; its about "forcing assimilation" with a subtext about Somalis who aren't working. And I have done that research and have found credible links that aren't just about stoking fear and hatred toward Islam and Muslims. Here is one.

Provide a credible link with facts and maybe we'll have a discussion about those facts.
