  1. The headline says NACI is not recommending AstraZeneca for people aged 65 and over and that is exactly what it is at present time. I am fed up with Health Canada and public health officials of bad or late decisions causing harm and death to population, I gave a few examples in other threads. 1 - They took action on border closure and quarantines too late after the virus was established here. 2 - They did not advise on wearing masks for several months after pandemic after virus spread well to every corner. 3- They negotiated for vaccine contract not smart enough as they should have put a commitment for early delivery or substantial fines. 4 - It took Health Canada too long to approve vaccines already approved and used in all other western democracies including the US causing unnecessary delays and deaths and that is for all 3 eventually approved vaccines and they are doing the same with Johnson and Johnson. Every week means more unnecessary deaths. I can list more but i think i got my point across.
  2. Canada needs skillful contributing immigrants and overall it benefits all Canadians but the criteria is right immigrant at the right time. Though many immigrants are skillful workers like doctors (we see them every night in hospitals and on TV interviews) and engineers and nurses and professionals coming at the right time (when economy doing well and can absorb new immigrants) but they are also some having to go on social assistance for too long and now is not the right time when so many are looking for jobs.
  3. News just in that British Columbia is going to follow Quebec and New Brunswick and for now follow the ONE dose policy (Second dose 4 months from first dose when plenty of vaccines will be available) when there is a shortage of vaccine to save lives as one shot for Pfizer and Moderna has been proven to be almost as effective as two. Ontario politicians and decision makers where the hell do you stand on thsi? Don't play with people's lives with your stubbornness and bad decisions.
  4. I don't think people like you are as much as 90%. Less than 10% in my view.
  5. While Health Canada still promotes the "Get what is available to you" approach, Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) is not currently recommending the newly approved covid-19 vaccine from AstraZeneca be used on people aged 65 or older. According to their website his is “due to limited information on the efficacy of this vaccine in this age group at this time.” https://globalnews.ca/news/7670304/coronavirus-vaccine-astrazeneca-seniors-over-65-canada-naci/
  6. The decision making bodies have lost their minds when it comes to immigration. So many born Canadians and immigrants/citizens out of work and then they import more people (even if they are skillful) from abroad at this time!!!!. Nobody dares to oppose it openly either even if they know it is wrong at this time because they fear they may be accused of racism or worse. This is a perceived democracy. They may create a backlash against those immigrant looking population here at home when workers lose their jobs in the pandemic and see their jobs may be taken by newcomers. And honestly I can't blame them.
  7. My take on covid is that we could have avoided or kept in check the virus if we had smart politicians and health professionals. They were always late in making the right decisions and / or made wrong decisions. They closed borders too damn late, they advised on wearing masks too late, they negotiated for vaccines late so we are still waiting for vaccines and only 3.5% of population vaccinated 3 months after vaccine discovery, most especially those politicians in Ontario will be causing many deaths in the future because they don't give up on their stupidity and still insists on two doses even though it is proven that one dose provides almost as much immunity as two doses and depriving millions of much needed protection against the deadly virus from which many will die.
  8. And the majority of people won't be vaccinated any time soon unless (Ontario) politicians give up their stupidity and adopt the one dose policy proven to be almost as effective as two doses and deferring the second dose and hence vaccinate twice as many people or twice as fast.
  9. I have learned to trust myself not heath professionals. I posted here on this forum asking authorities to close borders immediately in early or mid February 2020 but of course they eventually did exact same thing months after the damn virus was well established here. I posted in April that everyone should be wearing masks and of course authorities then were advising against. I posted here a month ago as what on earth is taking Health Canada so long to approve AstraZeneca when it has been used massively elsewhere and eventually they did exact that a month later.
  10. Yes and it was the medical professionals and scientists who advised the government late on border closures until virus entered the country and advised against wearing masks first few months of the pandemic until the virus was well established and then took them months to approve vaccines which have been used massively in many western countries. Yes I learned a lot since last March and that is not to trust anything these people have to say.
  11. Yes that us what the health authorities say but as I said because of their past mistakes and misinformation (like not closing borders in time or their advice against wearing masks for first few months, .....etc.) I don't trust anything they say now.
  12. They (The advisory and decision making bodies, the public health among them) at all levels of governments have screwed up so much making wrong decisions. and misinformation that I personally don't trust anything that they say. First they were too damn late to take quick and decisive actions at the borders so the virus entered Canada by travelers mainly from China, Iran and US and then claimed initially masks are not effective or necessary till virus spread and established itself in Canada (later they changed their advice but that was too late) and then the Federal government screwed up terms of negotiations with vaccine manufacturing companies (they should have put early delivery in the contracts) so that several months after vaccine availability less than 5% are vaccinated (Canada is behind any other western country). Now Ontario has decided on two dose policy (one dose is proven to provide very high efficacy) and hence even the elderly if happen to live under conservative controlled Ontario of Doug Ford has to wait SEVERAL MONTHS to get their first shot even and till then God knows how many will die who otherwise may not have to and to add to misery they now approved a vaccine only 62% effective and again the same people who advised wrongfully or misinformed us at the beginning and during the pandemic (a few examples of those mentioned above) are now trying to justify forcing AstraZeneca into our arms by another round of misinformation and don't wish to give a choice to the nation on which vaccine to have. This is what happens when incompetent people are elected or promoted to governing bodies. Sad.
  13. Here are more details: Here’s more on Ontario vaccination timetable by age groups: April 15 — 75 and older, May 1 — 70 and older, June 1 — 65 and over, July 1 — 60 and older. Retired Gen. Rick Hillier, who’s leading Ontario’s vaccine rollout, made the announcement during a press conference at Queen’s Park. A spokesperson for Premier Doug Ford refused to provide the dates in writing. So it will take for example ONE MONTH for Ontario to vaccinate Ontarians between 70 to 75 years of age!!!!!. There are less than 400,000 in that age group in Ontario, It takes one month to vaccinate so few priority people in such a big province with so many pharmacies and clinics all over in Ontario?
  14. I don't think it is a loaded question but a good question why decision makers in Ontario are making bad decisions likely causing harm and more deaths than needed. When one dose provides very close to two dose immunity as suggested by scientists then why give non-vital second dose and deprive others the vital first dose and deprive millions of slightest immunity? Look at their stupid timetable for vaccinating elderly Ontarians!!! 80+ year olds - starting third week of March 75+ year olds - staring April 1st 70+ year olds - starting May 1st 65+ year olds - starting June 1st 60+ year olds - starting July first They are doing worse than any other province. They have been saying that they were ready for mass vaccination for a long time attacking Federal government for slow rollout but they proved that they are much worse. With warm weather just around the corner the fed up young population will restart socializing and will pass the virus to elders. Some won't listen to incompetent decision makers or governors anymore. How many elderly would have to die till July till they realize their bad decision?
  15. Clearly decision makers in Ontario are making the wrong decisions. This is the announced schedule worse than every other province. 80+ year olds - starting third week of March 75+ year olds - staring April 1st 70+ year olds - starting May 1st 65+ year olds - starting June 1st 60+ year olds - starting July first Younger than 40 - Eternity God knows how many 60+ year olds will unnecessarily die because we have elected bad decision makers in Ontario. The right decision would have been to give everyone over 60 the first dose and thereby giving them up to 90% immunity followed by second dose in 90 days when plenty of vaccine would be available giving them a bit more immunity. This would have resulted in significantly accelerated vaccination of Elderly Ontarians and likely saving thousands of Ontarians lives. Vive le Quebec for making the right decision.
  16. Yes. With slow vaccine roll out some provinces like Quebec has already adopted or provinces considering to adopt a one dose policy and Ontario should follow that policy too in order to save precious lives. It has been shown that a single dose of Pfizer vaccine would provide a very high efficacy of 80% maybe even 90% so why give the second dose to those already reasonably protected and provide a likely 10% higher efficacy while depriving millions of any protection at all and by doing so leaving millions others totally defenseless. Policy makers take note that the your right decision would save many thousands of lives while your wrong action would results in thousands of avoidable deaths. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-vaccine-effectiveness-second-doses-1.5918449 https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/canadian-researchers-say-pfizer-vaccine-s-second-dose-can-be-delayed-as-first-is-highly-effective-1.5313926 https://globalnews.ca/news/7649826/single-dose-covid-vaccine-bc-doctor/ THIS DOES NOT MAKR SENSE and the consequence will be thousands of unnecessary covid related deaths in Ontario and other provinces.
  17. The West should learn from Israel!! Israelis did it again. Doing it the best way that the West failed to do (no I am not talking about them outnumbered 500 to 1 and still heavily defeating Arabs in 1967 or their successful raid on Entebbe freeing their hostages). That is vaccinating the highest proportion of their population in a short time and providing real time statistics on its effectiveness too. https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/covid-19-infections-dropped-95-8-per-cent-after-both-pfizer-shots-israeli-health-ministry-1.5317432 The Pfizer vaccine has been enormously effective on Israelis and that is great news for everyone. It has been also 98.9% effective in preventing hospitalization or death They are also on their way to find a cure for covid. https://www.timesofisrael.com/new-israeli-drug-cured-moderate-to-serious-covid-cases-within-days-hospital/
  18. In democracies privilege is not skin color dependent but brain size dependent.
  19. Nothing wrong or surprising about this but why you would even mention something like this? Any citizen regardless of skin color may have same things in any country. Would you have posted if a you knew a white man who was a doctor and owned a mansion and a yacht?
  20. In response to original post (why do Canadians keep supporting this error prone government?), because the alternative would be much worse. Liberals have maintain their 5% lead over the closest rival for the past many many months for that reason as voters remember Harper days. https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/elections/poll-tracker/canada/
  21. Two so called experts openly say that certain groups of people should be prioritized in vaccination!!!! https://www.cbc.ca/radio/thehouse/racialized-canadians-vaccine-priority-1.5911952 I wonder what would happen to anyone who may say the opposite that white blue eyed people should be given priority when it comes to vaccination? It claims that those groups (blacks and colored) are statistically more at risk but that is because it happens that they are among the lower income Canadians and essential workers but failed to mentioned that there are also many white people who fall in above categories and are also in high risk groups and should be given a priority!! I agree, give priority to those most at risk of serious illness who are seniors (over 80 followed by over 70 followed by over 60 years of age regardless of color of skin or race) and immune deficient people but in my view priority or restriction of any kind based on skin color or race is wrong. Giving priority to a 20 year old because he or she happened to have a color skin over a 70 or 80 year old white person is very wrong.
  22. It is absolutely no business of any damn government or person if I decide to end MY life. My life belong to me and only I decide what to do with it same argument for abortion (my body, my choice). Governments and conservatives and religious preachers mind your own damn business. People have the right to end their suffering and pain and die painlessly and with integrity rather than living a painful life suffering for a few more months tortured by religious fanatics and conservative minded idiots who see their right to decide how other people should live their lives.
  23. But that does not guarantee full protection. It provides between 66% to 95% protection at best so they are putting the lives of those vaccinated as well.
  24. As long as they are not allowed to be in the same store or grocery or in the same workplace or bar or any other public place or any other public place I am okay with it. But they can't refuse and breath the same air as rest of us putting our lives in danger. For the same reason that I agree people can drink and risk their health if they choose to do so but they have no rights to drink and drive and put our lives in danger.
