So ... hypothetically ... if China and the US go to war ... what happens with the US corporations now happily pulling in profits in China? -
You want a government job? Get one. You want to get rich? Don't get a government job.

I don't want anybody's money. I just want the wealthiEST 1% to pay their fair share of taxes instead of the rest of us picking up their tab/debt. -

Good article. The problem lies with CPC voters who don't give a damn about frivolous things like 'truth' and 'evidence' but only believe their knee-jerk 'gut instincts' that tell them they'll feel better if they can assert their power and indulge their sadistic pleasure by punishing someone. Evangelicals like Harper and financial/corporate elites seem to share this 'need to punish' pathology. And of course overworked, underpaid private sector employees are easily brainwashed into the same mentality of blaming and wishing punishment on others. This stupidity approach, or 'ideology' if you prefer, is one of the best reasons to shake up the electoral system with proportionate representation to try to break ideological approaches and instead have governments that must collaborate across ideologies to write laws that are effective and not just political games. Billions of OUR dollars being spent on ineffective methods, just to satify a pathological political constituency. It's a political initiative, not governance, and it should be paid for by the CPC party, not by taxpayers. -
Corporate not personal. That's just business. Cops harassing and injuring protesters though, that's personal.

Should the Western Democracies be Paying for this Garbage (the U.N.)

Yup. Trust Iran not to gussy up the truth with platitudes about 'freedom' and 'democracy'. If more North Americans understood the truth about camouflaged US aggression, they'd understand the world's reaction. -

Richest 1% income shares at historic high Well Derek, it appears that this "turn" belongs to the richEST 1%, whose tax rate is too low, thus explaining the current discontent among the unemployed middle class; "1920's" ... hmmm ... that would be just before the great depression ...Are we heading that way again? -

I don't think the UN can be faulted for what Iran chooses to say. What part of it do you disagree with? -
That incident was entirely regrettable and wouldn't have happened if he'd vacated the site when police told him to.The courts have dealt with that. Homeowners have been compensated too. What else do you expect? I know some people expect native land claims disputes to be dealt with as if they are entirely illegal, but they are not. When people organize against them, trouble will happen. That's the message of Caledonia: Stay the hell away and let the police handle it. Without the local pressure for removal of people from the site, there would have been no violent OPP raid, no baricades, no violence. The responsibility for violent escalation in Caledonia lies squarely at the feet of the local population, business community and Council, who chose to act in feigned ignorance of Six Nations's concerns and rights.

Till they all have a job? This is the winter camping, climbing, survival gear generation. Don't count them stupid because they are peaceful and persistent. And don't count them unsupported, because they're not. Somebody's paying for their "commercial kitchen". But no need to panic. That's to be avoided, especially by police. -

And they're staying. So you might want to hedge your bets somewhat. -
No violent talk now.Have a virtual flower. @>---;--- Yoga? Workshop on non-violent protest? Ahh ... here comes the pizza again! I thought you were going to take a holiday and take pictures?

I can only speak for my 1/34m share of Canada. They're all worried aren't they? Everybody should be worried if the police continue to use violence. Because then things could get very BIG and the stock markets might notice. Everybody's money is at stake here. Peaceful and persistent is good. I might add ... public employees, paid by taxpayers. They work for us.

most canadians back palestinian state - why doesn't harper?
jacee replied to bud's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hamas has agreed to the two state solution. Operation Cast Lead was 'successful' in this. Recriminations aside, Observer status as a state during negotiation of borders. And the name calling should stop, Bob, Wild Bill. Frankly, it's absurd for Canadians to incite hatred among people of other nations. Raises a question though, Do Jews in Canada claim a religious exemption from the hate laws (2-14 year sentences) for persecuting "Arabs/Muslims/Palestinans? -
