DENIAL DENIAL DENIAL I don't condone anyone killing anyone but how convenient it is for you that you are forgetting that you ever heard of Pat Robertson? Please try cleaning up your sick society in the US before bringing us any more of your great ideas like you are bringing DEMOCRACY TO IRAQ. Do you really think we are the equivalent of a bunch of stupid Americans up here?

Note to self: Ignore this thread! -
How many people have actually completely read this letter? I would imagine if Moore does make a Hurricane Bush movie it will the biggest box office seller to ever hit the US! I would suggest to Mr Moore to ensure that it gets released in the theatres and on DVD in the US approximately 2 months before the 2006 Congressional vote. And Argus you should get royalties for the best possible name for the Katrina movie - the name of this thread: Hurricane Bush

I am glad that Canada and many other countries from all over our planet were able to assist with your Katrina crisis. We are all human beings sharing this fragile planet together and depend on each other for survival. And good luck with your own personal situation in North Carolina. I want to preface my following remarks by stating that in our current situation if we have to have one planet superpower, I prefer it be the US rather than Russia, China, or any other powerful country. Some of my closest relatives and friends are Americans and I personally have experienced many enjoyable experiences in the US. Americans have so many positive attributes. And a few not so positive ones. I think you might though be missing the point concerning the current US Administration. Regardless of what Americans feel themselves about them, I would surmise that most of the rest of the people on planet Earth feel that the 2000 election was rigged by the Conservative supreme court, and that Bush and Blair lied to all of us about the pretext for going to war in Iraq. So as a result of pent up frustrations with Bush & Co. many of us are not prepared to cut him any slack whatosoever about your federal government's resposibilities over the Katrina debacle. Americans weren't allowed to oppose the war, it was disloyal and you were labelled a traitor if you did. But this will not reoccur with Katrina because peole will be speaking out lound and clear. After Sept 11 Bush should have had the federal government's act together for major emergencies and he has failed the job miserably, and most particularily the mainly poor and primarily black people in New Orleans by playing partisan politics. The whole bill of goods Americans were sold around security was a crock. You diverted money for the rich people's security issues, and left the poor to perish by natural disaster, which could have almost entirely been prevented. You have lost many, many of your freedoms, and your federal government is not properly prepared to deal with any major emergencies because amongst other reasons, the president has appointed his incompetent political hacks to run organizations like FEMA, etc. Although there is a connection I won't bore anyone with the pitiful details concerning Bush's denial of global warming. It could not have been worse that if a huge bomb had been dropped on some part of your country. Yes and it is for these reasons I believe al Quaeda has won the battle with the US, and President Bush and his cohorts are pretty much entirely to blame. Will Americans finally wake up? Hillary Clinton & John Kerry both voted for the war in Iraq so I wonder! -
It's also supported by taxpayer dollars. Like Canada's CBC, conservatives are forced to pay for NPR's leftwing pap. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The reality is in Canada most Canadians enjoy paying taxes because they know the benefits we receive from paying them. . That's statism. get used to it, as it is here to stay!

Jacques Chirac wants other people's money
mirror replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in The Rest of the World
Most Canadians support the UN, and as far as corruption is concerned, is there any society more corrupt than the USA? It seems like every day we hear about another crooked CEO in America. As an aside, when's the German election? -

Statism This is a social democratic political system. Sounds healthy to me. -
Best quote of the year in the federal politics section of MLW And best response! And I thought it was just the Christies. The Byfields as well. The numbers are starting to add up. This is more like it. Canadians should be celebrating Alberta's good fortunes, and apparently there are job opportunities there as well. So those who are envious of Alberta's success get on your ski doo and come to Alberta. I think Jim Dinning will become premier and will be successful at it as he has some great ideas at least as far as keeping jobs in Alberta are concerned.

What needs to change in dollar figures, and where in the financial figures of BC, does one find the information for BC to become a HAVE province again? My uderstanding is that is is only in the last 5-10 years that BC became a HAVE NOT province. I mean are we talking large sums of money or what, eh?

Why do some folks consider it stealing if the government takes money from you in the form of taxes, but not stealing if the multinational corporation, or any SMS business you are working for, for that matter, does NOT pay you a decent wage? Just curious!

First Canadians are prepared to stare down the US over what is obviously the US's illegal behaviour concerning NAFTA's softwood lumber duties ruling, and now they are considering doing the same with the multinational oil companies. Gutsy group of people these pesky Canadians are turning out to be. -
Off the barbecue circuit -- but not the coals If I were a Conservative supporter I would understandably get very frustrated with Canada's mainstream media which often acts as a mouthpiece for the Liberals. Can't you wait for the CBC to return? It seems like the Conservatives have now been relegated to the Canadian political junkheap by most of our media. Guess what, finally Conservatives are now really beginning to feel and understand what it's been like for New Democrats in dealing with the press over the years. Conservatives and New Democrats can't do anything right, and Liberals can't do anything wrong. How do Conservatives like Freedom of the Press now?

If you read the context of his comments he is complaining about Harper not being vocal enough on issues that marginalize the party. Hmmm, Harper being attacked by the far right for moderating too much = CPC moderating itself to appeal to more mainstream Canadians. As much as guys like Nicholls might whine it is all the much better for the CPC. No where else for the NCC to go and they get more of the swing Ontario voters. Duhhhh, Mirror can't see the logic because he is too caught up in his juvenile attack the CPC at every moment game and too stupid to put any thought or analysis into his posts. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another impressive post. Cheers!

mirror posted a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Before the big hike in gas costs at the pumps, already close to 50% of Canadians want our petroleum resources and gas companies nationalized in Canada according to a recent poll by Leger Marketing released tonite. This comes as quite a surprise that there is such a strong a desire by Canadians for nationalization of what is actually an essential product in Canada. Well, what are you waiting for Mr Martin! 49% want petroleum resources nationalized: Poll -
Any article I have read by Slinger in the past were written tongue-in-cheek. Ignatieff though has had a major falling out with civil rights folks over his position concerning torture which apparently he now condones. If he is going to become one of our leading political leaders we really are in a lot more trouble in Canada than I thought.

This following article is about Conservatives in British politics but I think it is the route Conservatives should go in Canada in order to appeal to a broader cross section of Canadians: Link

More impressive comments - you have so many!
-
Impressive. A real class act!
-
Would you expect Solberg to say otherwise? It's what Nicholls, head of the National Citizens Coalition, said further on in the article, which is probablly one of the most damaging part of the article, as this is one guy you would think supports Harper:

Thanks for sharing. Happy Labour Day to you too!

Shoop All you have done since you arrived here is whine and complain about other posters doing this and doing that. If you have any problems with another poster contact the moderator.
-
Link Sure looks like Harper has a lot things to learn yet and a lot of work to do.

Don't shoot the messanger. You Conservatives can whine and moan all you want, it isn't going to change how Canadians fell about their various political parties. The bottom has fallen out of Harper's strategy. Here are some additional seat projections from the election forecaster which are additional scientifically based projections: 06/27/05 L - 137 C - 76 66 28 1 06/23/05 L - 139 C- 67 66 35 1 06/20/05 L - 138 C - 82 67 20 1 06/11/05 L - 113 C - 91 67 36 1 06/08/05 L - 150 C - 48 67 40 1 05/28/05 L - 125 C - 75 68 40 0 05/26/05 L - 165 C - 55 67 21 0 05/20/05 L - 131 C - 88 67 21 1 It is not like the Conservative collapse happened overnite, as it has been going on for some time now.

shoop You and August are diehard Conservative supporters. Nobody would expect you to say anything different. That your comments on the polls, when the Conservatives are dropping like a stone, have any substance, is another issue altogether.
