Perhaps this isn't rocket science (pardon the use of the word "science" here )...but my presmise for debate here is this: The connection between the left wing and environmentalism makes perfect sense when you think about the mentality of most left wingers. Left wing people have always felt that they knew better and were smarter than everyone else - just look on this forum to the condescending attitudes. Think back to the days of high school, sitting in class debating about the pros and cons of government intervention in the domestic economy - in a setting where it's actually still up for debate. The lefties always thought they knew best and argued for socialism and big, expensive government programs to fix all of society's ills. The dangerous part about climate change is that the "leave the big decisions to the smart people in government" crowd never got that big job, has kept it's pet social studies essay opinions and gone global. They've hijacked the earth's natural climate fluctuations as a basis for massive global social engineering on a never-before-heard-of scale. Think about it: Isn't Kyoto just one big wealth transfer from rich countries to poor ones? Isn't this global socialism? Next time you hear Canada's resident kook, David Suzuki, ranting away take a closer listen: you can hear his ideas about global social policy and economics leaking into his weakly veiled comments about the temperature of a Greenlandian glacier. It's no accident these subjects are becoming more and more intertwined. This is just another veiled global attempt to demonize "industry" , "big business" , "america" and "free will" - all irrationally chosen enemies of the hard core left. This is scary business, no?

The problem isn't the right of free expression; both sides are free to say what they want... it's the mainstream media steamrolling over all things conservative. A few hick country stations in the south and a handful of protestors at a concert result in a two year long tirade about threats and the "evil right wing"...comlpete with talk show cicuits, larry king appearances, drama queen videos and sensationalized, overblown talk of death threats (sorry, death THREAT - singular), not to mention the complete and utter shameless attempt to link one death-threatening thug to an entire political class, including the President of the United States. What a weak effort at being serious. As PJ once said: seriousness is stupidity sent to college - or in this case "seriousness is stupidity wrapped in a CD case" Instead of crying us all a river and making megabucks on songs about how mad they are about how mad other people were about how mad THEY were (got that?)....they should be thanking their lucky stars some trailer park country fan had nothing better to do with his time than to write a threatening letter; their careers have never looked so bright.

This is an excellent link. As this fad continues to run it's course I become more and more convinced that these people (the eco-nazis) are a dangerous group. I had suspicions about the inner workings of these fanatics, but some of the "instructions" on climate change PR are eery and surprised even me: Free speech, the scientific method, rational public debate and prudence of action seem to be completely absent in any of their thoughts. The most scary part of this is the concept: Left wing people have always felt that they knew better and were smarter than everyone else - just look on this forum. Harken back to the days of high school, debating about the pros and cons of government intervention in the domestic economy. The lefties always thought they knew best and argued for socialism and big, expensive government programs to fix all of society's ills. Even in recent David Suzuki rants, you can hear his ideas about global social policy and economics leaking into his weakly veiled comments about the temperature of a Greenlandian glacier. It's no accident these subjects are becoming more and more intertwined. This is just another veiled global attempt to demonize "industry" , "big business" , "america" and "free will" - all enemies of the watermelon left.

I Thought They Were Going To Try Harder
JerrySeinfeld replied to BayLee's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Takes even more courage to sit behind a computer and basically say who cares about Afghani citizens being killed by our soldiers.Or cops indulging in kiddie porn A real man/women would agree that its not a good thing. But no not you CB. You just want,as the saying goes,to shoot the messenger and not the message. So how about it. How do you feel about Canadian soldiers blowing away innocent civillians ? It's called a WAR you moron. You don't think innocent civilians were constantly murdered under the Taliban? Every war in history has resulted in civilian deaths, probably alot more than in today's sanitized wishful thinking lefty world where people go to war for a cause but nobody gets hurt. I miss the days when we went in, kicked some German ass without the media trying to turn the whole mission on it's head by complaining about german civilian casualties. What a fucking joke this world has become. -
David Suzuki storms of radio station in Toronto

Suzuki is a joke. How can anyone with his track record be taken as "objective" on the subject of environmetal policy. And now that his "issue" is flavor du jour he's starting to push his other commie agendas. Have you heard his new thing about confiscating energy sector profits? Watermelons are all the same: Green on the outside, red on the inside. -

Sunshine, it's obvious by now that what you don't know about these matters could fill the Grand Canyon to overflowing. That's why you're so utterly shite at arguing details and why you only trade in sweeping declarations and hollow bombast. You skim the headlines, cruise the armchair warrior web, grab your talking points, drop them like steaming turds and scuttle away when someone has the temerity to challenge the actual substance (such as it is). stop it - you'r making me laugh out loud at the irony of those comments coming from YOU. but you are kinda onto something there, tho, DOGGY - unlike I don't spend my days my mother's basement researching muslim sects so that I can pretend to be a smartypants in my latest attempt to discredit the world's greatest leader (GW Bush). -

No - it's you. You point out the difference between shia and sunni as if it's NEWS - sorta like that vast lefty revelation that bin laden and saddam used to be allies of the US. ooooohhhh - ahhhhhh. Meantime I'm not sure what difference it makes when factions of both have shown their penchant for self-detonation and killing infidels. -
hmm. You know all of the christians in America do you? Or perhaps thats just one person, or a small group. Would you consider it racist if I said "those street dwelling drunk indians"? Probably. You're guilty of the same mass generalization based upon a few small examples.

Well that just simply isnt true.As I said earlier celebs ( musicians) have mixed politics and music for decades and decades .Seems it is only the American right wing bigots and hate mongers and bible thumpers who seem to throw a tantrum and death threats around Think back to the famous Beatles records burning by those same ignorant American right wing idiots just because of something that was said It's you who sounds like a bigot hate monger right now, dear.
-
C'mon - be objective here. It's obvious this is an example of BOTH sides not tolerating criticism. By now we've been enduring a 6 month tirade of movies, tears, talk shows, videos and "bwaahaa we won you lost" childishness from the dixie chicks in reaction to criticism of THEM.

JerrySeinfeld replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Quoting Mark Steyn is the equivalent of me quoting Michael Moore..... This persistent Ad Hominem response to Mark Steyn by the left simply magnifies your inability to respond to his arguments, so you are reduced to attacking the source. No matter what you say, you cannot dispute that the famous "hockey stick" graph was used by climate change "scientists" and has since been debunked as complete bullshit. Based upon this fact alone we should all be questionning the objectivity of the research put forth. It is a healthy and necessary part of the scientific process. The harder you people work to try to shut up those who question the "science" of climate change, the more questionable you become. As well, you cannot deny that many scientists in the 1970's were postulating a theory of global COOLING predicated upon the slight cooling of temperature that occured throughout the world from about 1940 to 1970. So aside from attacking the messenger, why don't you speak to these facts first. As a side note, take a look at the eastern seaboard where they're buried under 13 feet of snow and temperatures well below average. Although I'm sure THAT TOO is evidence of global warming. That's another problem with the theory: everything is evidence of it. Doesn't sound very scientific to me. -
Get over it people. Freedom of speech works both ways. People have every right not to buy their records or to picket outside their shows. The "death threat" is offside, but I think its totally unfair to equate that with the majority of people who didn't like what the chicks said on stage. - and even more unfair to equate it with GW Bush who had nothing to do with any of it. I think all GW Bush said was something to the effect that they "shouldn't get upset just because people aren't buying their records" - which he turned out to be wrong about. But it gets to be a bit much when we keep saying Larry King interviews, worldwide press coverage and grammy awards for songs about how they're being "silenced". Oh well - again another example of what I'm talking about - the left is like skateboarders - they all have this complex that people are trying to oppress them but it just ain't reality. Last night was another prime example of what I've been saying for a long time.

The Tyranny of the Left Wing
JerrySeinfeld replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Hmmm. That seems decidedly at odds with "freedom and democracy and potecting human rights." As for Japan, despite totally losing an aggressive war, it still took 350,000 American troops (and not counting other Allies here) to rebuild the country and reshape it's institutions. The U.S. and probably the entire western world combined simply doesn't have the kind of money or manpower to commit to a fullscale Mid East makeover. So your"plam"l-if and that is the real plan-is an unacheivable farce. Then again, maybe you know it and just wanna 'splode some Ay-rabs and it sounds better when you at least pretend to give a shit. It's not at odds at all - unless you're from the dreamworld lefty PC ideology of winning a war without hurting anyone but the 3 people in power. Sometimes ya gotta tear down a pieces of shit house before you build a nice one. -

The Tyranny of the Left Wing
JerrySeinfeld replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well, it is certainly unassailed by any counter-arguments from you. I assume your next line of approach will be "You sux so bad I wont waist time showing you how much you sux. YR 2TLLY PWNED DOOD LOL!!!11!" OMFG this made my day. Japan had a sizeable military and a pretty kick ass navy back then. They had the capability to attack the US on their turf, Pearl Harbour was a good military strategic hit by Japan. Japan could have attacked mainland USA with general ease. Iran does not have that capability. So this is really an unfair comparison Jerry and shows you cannot put this into any kind of reasonable context. If your next post consists of calling me stupid or anything of the like in which I have seen here in the last page of this thread (in regards to the way you talk to Black Dog), I would consider reporting you. Should this thread be renamed to the Stupidity of the Right? You either believe in defeating and killing the enemy or you don't. I believe in killing and defeating the enemy. That's what the US achieved with Japan - decisive victory and a message: don't fuck with us again. Certainly the middle east could use that. -
New (old) Thoughts On Iraq

Again, you totally missed the point of this topic. Wether the Saddam execution was a good choice of examples for how savage these people generally are is irrelevant to the overall discussion about revisiting the son of a bitch system. -

I agree. Any nation that practices state executions is largely uncivilized. Way to miss the point. This is typical of these forums. I put forth a debatable idea and some idiot loses the forest for the trees. -

Glaciers growing around the world - bad news for the climate change jet set -
I will predicate these comments by saying this: this forum is for thought and debate. I may not agree with this position, but I am putting it out there for discussion sake - as many positions I take. So before certain forum-obsessed junkies (sorry Black Dog) start scouring the archives for evidence that I have made arguments to the contrary in the past (how pathetic a use of your time is THAT?), hold onto your panties and let's have a new chat. Here are some premises: 1. The middle east is largely an uncivilized, savage society. For a good example you need not look any further than the execution of Saddam Hussein. Whereas one might have expected to see an appeals process or at least some pomp and circumstance surrounding the affair, it wasn't to be. Instead, within days of getting their hands on him, they hurried him into a dark, makeshift gallows and slung him over the edge (so to speak) - in an..er, unceremonious ceremony complete with cellphone cameras and harassment of the condemned man. This example doesn't even scratch the surface and ignores the execution of women for minor offenses, cutting off of hands, self-detonation, opression of women, gang raping, shameless racism and other basic forms of savagery and lack of civilization. 2. As we all know, our ultimate goal in the mid-east is to defeat and kill the enemy: Radical Pan-Global Islam, which declares war on our peaceful, western way of life with each suicide attack, london bombing, madrid bombing, 9-11, plots to behead primeministers etc. etc. etc. 3. The enemy, Radical Islam, originates and has it's base in the middle east. There could be some debate as to the true "home" of Terrorism - ie. Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria etc. However borders don't mean a whole lot in this part of the world. 4. There are presently some very dangerous trends in the mid-east. Iran is developing nukes. Iran and Syria continually supply Hezbollah with weapons, which Hezbollah stockpiles then shamelessly uses on Israeli Civilians. Iran is headed up by a guy who thinks the coming of the 12th Imam can only occur after armageddon takes place. 5. The Iraq war is a good start at trying to teach the savages about the lighter side of life, a goal which will ultimately undermine the basic tenets of radical Islam. But it's going to take a long time. Based upon these premises, should we go back to the "he may be a son of a bitch, but he's OUR son of a bitch" system? Now lefties, before you get all excited about revealing the SHOCKING fact that Saddam USED to be our sonofabitch (gee thanks for the bulletin), hold your fire. First of all, this isn't a very big revelation. Throughout history, allegiances shift and change - it's not news. Heck, before the second world war ended we were friends with the soviets, then we hated eachother, then we were friends again and today...well, it looks like we're well on the road to hating eachother again, what with the bankrupt Russians selling enriched uranium to Iran and all... can you say WWIII? But I digress... If we're to get this situation under control, perhaps the old fashioned line up your tanks and planes and go at it war isn't the way to do it? After all we're dealing with a sneaky, stab you in the back, cowardly enemy who won't show their face. Perhaps the old "proxy war", "CIA Coup", "Assasination" game the USA perfected during the cold war is even put to BETTER use today against foes like Ahmedinejad or Syria? The left seems really upset that we abandoned that system by toppling Saddam. But maybe he just turned into the WRONG SON OF A BITCH? So the question: should we just install a new, ruthless, west-friendly SON OF A BITCH to keep these savages under control, then use him as a base of operations to subvert the rest of the Idiots in the region? I thought this might refresh the old Bush sucks / No he doesn't debate with a new angle.

I have continuously mopped the floor with BD - unless of course your definition of "bitch-sapped" means being bored to death by mundane one-line left-wing soundbites. Poor BD - living in a dreamworld where Islamic Terrorism isn't a threat the biggest problem in the Middle East isn't the Jew Hating Holocaust Denying Pres. of Iran, but the USA who toppled an evil dictator and freed a society and...drumroll please... THE RIGHT WING AMERICAN VIEWPOINT CONTROLS THE PUBLIC OPINION IN THIS WORLD??? BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Dream on, boys. I'll give DOGGY some kudos here, though: he's reached the pinnacle of the left: he thinks if he talks enough, he can rationalize himself into circles to the point of defending the simply untrue in the world. Gotta love the lefty bizarro world.
