Holocaust survivors condemn Israel for 'Gaza massacre,'
marcus replied to marcus's topic in The Rest of the World
That is one of the more cowardly responses that comes from the Israeli propaganda machine. It's like an abusive person who hits people and then throws his hands in the air and says: "what was I supposed to do?!" Like you have no choice. What Israel could have done was not impose sanctions against Hamas and Gaza. What Israel could have done was to respect the election process where the people of Gaza elected Hamas. You don't see the world imposing sanctions because Bibi was elected or because the racist Lieberman was chosen as part of the government. You ask these impossible questions like people are stupid. You seriously wonder why Gaza's economy didn't prosper, considering what Israel has been doing to it? Seriously, get real.- 147 replies

Holocaust survivors condemn Israel for 'Gaza massacre,'
marcus replied to marcus's topic in The Rest of the World
That is a superficial statement. Gaza was put under sanctions as soon as Hamas came to power. Devastating sanctions that paved the road for the Gaza blockade/siege. How is this population supposed to see economic development when Israel has been controlling everything that has been going in and out of the open air prison and manage to violate international law by targeting and indiscriminately killing civilians once every 2 years? When fishing boats are being shot at by Israeli navy boats when they haven't even reached the 3 miles limit they are supposedly allowed to go into, how are these fishermen supposed to contribute to the economic development of Gaza?- 147 replies

Let's see if this coalition will have a better result than they did in Libya.

Yes. The Bush administration really PR'd the shit out of the made-up evidence. "Don't worry. Americans are easily moved" - Netanyahu

The only reason U.S. is going in is because it's an opportunity to release their fireworks and then replace those fireworks. The military industrial complex doesn't like quiet for too long. They get antsy and press their lobbyists (congressmen and senators) to push for wars. Remember how antsy McCain was getting when Syria was happening? Well now, we have IS. IS is the perfect bad guy. It's like how each Bond movie has a crazier villain that needs to be stopped. They're so crazy and demented that even Al Quaeda has spoken out against them. But of course, they are not a threat beyond an unstable region, created thanks to the powers. This time though, it's easier to get the people behind you. Something like 2/3 of Americans back attacking IS.

Yes. See over 100 years ago when people made bombs in their basements by following instructions on youtube. Thank you for that lesson in nothing.
-
That won't happen. They want Iraq and Syria. Two countries where there is instability and chaos already. These are the only places they're able to drive their caravans and stolen U.S. military vehicles and mow down civilians. They cannot go to the East, as Iran has a real military. They cannot go North, as Turkey has a real, U.S. purchased military. They can't go South, as there are several U.S. military bases in the neighbouring countries. They're confined to where the chaos and instability is.

Holocaust survivors condemn Israel for 'Gaza massacre,'

More Jews speaking out against Israel's treatment of Palestinians. This time, elite IDF reservists, including a major and two captains, have sent a letter explaining why their refusal to serve. Reservists from elite IDF intel unit refuse to serve over Palestinian 'persecution' Forty-three signatories, including a major and two captains, in a letter to the prime minister: 'Intelligence is an integral part of Israel's military occupation over the territories.' The 43 unit members who signed the letter, some of whom serve in the reserves, say that the information that is gathered and stored in the army’s systems “harms innocent people. It is used for political persecution and to create divisions within Palestinian society by recruiting collaborators and driving parts of Palestinian society against itself.” For this reason, the signatories say, their consciences do not allow them to continue serving that system and depriving millions of human beings of their rights.- 147 replies

So why are these groups able to attract people? What are they fighting for? What's the motivation? Revenge? Religious ideology? Money? Feeling of belonging? You cannot defeat these militant/terrorist groups with an army. Sure, they may bomb and kill a few hundred of them, but they will slip into the population and comeback out again once "mission is accomplished". That's why you need to get to the root of the issue. So what is the root? What are the reasons?
-
You cannot eradicate an enemy that is not in uniform. They will simply slide into the population and comeback out once everyone leaves again. IS has been fighting against the Iraqi government and the Shiite majority for some time now. A high tech military cannot stop bombs made in basements.

I love how you project yourself with comments about others.

This post should be in this thread: Speaking of IDF and its lies -- Here is a good article that explains how Israel's continuous claims that they flattened many neighbourhoods in Gaza due to Hamas rocket launches just don't make sense: Hamas Rocket Launches Don't Explain Israel's Gaza Destruction The slimiest of all car salesmen is the IDF and the Israeli government. It's rare that the IDF and the Israeli government do not lie or don't try to spread misinformation. It seems like the only time we don't hear lies is when they're not talking.

I am right and you are, as usual, wrong. Here is a list of just a few instances where Hamas has claimed responsibility. Select Hamas Terrorist Attacks Against Israel August 31, 2010: Four Israelis, including a pregnant woman, were murdered when terrorists ambushed their car as they were driving near Kiryat Arba in the West Bank. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack March 14, 2004: Ten people were killed and 16 wounded in a double suicide bombing in the area of the Ashdod Port. Hamas and Fatah claimed responsibility for the attack. January 14, 2004: A female suicide bomber killed four people and wounded 20 at the Erez Crossing in the Gaza Strip. Hamas and the Fatah Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack. September 9, 2003: Hamas claimed responsibility for two suicide bombings, the first at an entrance to the Tzrifin army base near Rishon Lezion August 19, 2003: Hamas and Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing of a bus in Jerusalem killing at least 18 people and wounding nearly 100. Hamas claimed to have carried out the Ariel attack. Palestinian terrorists near Ofra, north of Ramallah. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack. The bomber was disguised as an ultra-orthodox Jew. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack. wounding three Israeli soldiers. Hamas claimed responsibility. The Palestinian detonated his explosives, killing only himself. Hamas claimed responsibility in both attacks. May 17, 2003: A pregnant Israeli woman and her husband were killed when a suicide bomber detonated himself next to them in a public square in Hebron. Hamas claimed responsibility. The Fatah Tanzim and Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack, carried out as a joint operation. attacked during Shabbat. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack. I hope you get the point and I hope you stop challenging the truth. And there is more instances where Hamas has claimed responsibility.

Hamas is easy to criticize, but one thing you can't criticize them for is how they own up to anything they do. They always proudly announce rocket attacks. They claim any attacks they have done. They don't play the slimy car salesman game that Israel plays, where they'll do whatever it takes to make a sale.

They weren't. Repeating the same propaganda over and over doesn't make it truth. Well, sort of. The Hasbara has managed to make people think that Israel has targeted and flattened buildings only because of militants. The UN confirmed several times that there were no rockets or militants in the buildings they gave their coordinates to, several times. By the way, even if there are militants there, it is against the law to collectively punish civilians because there are militants there. It's as simple as that. Another by the way: It turns out that the IDF has used old footage from their carnage, two wars ago and tried using it in this war to justify bombing a hospital: Exclusive: Israel's Video Justifying Destruction of a Gaza Hospital Was From 2009 A video distributed by the Israeli military in July suggesting that Palestinian fighters had fired from the Al Wafa Rehabilitation and Geriatric Hospital in Gaza City was not shot during the recent Israeli attack on Gaza, and both audio and video clips were manipulated to cover up the fact that they were from entirely different incidents, a Truthout investigation has revealed. The video, released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on July 23, the same day Israeli airstrikes destroyed Al Wafa, was widely reported by pro-Israeli publications and websites as proving that the hospital was destroyed because Hamas had turned the hospital into a military facility. But the video clip showing apparent firing from an annex to the hospital was actually shot during Israel's 2008-09 "Operation Cast Lead," and the audio clip accompanying it was from an incident unrelated to Al Wafa. The misleading video was only the last in a series of IDF dissimulations about Al Wafa hospital that included false claims that Hamas rockets had been launched from the hospital grounds, or very near it, and that the hospital had been damaged by an attack on the launching site. Israelis manipulating the truth? Imagine my total lack of surprise.

B. Michael for Haaretz: "On August 20, Mr. Netanyahu was recorded on film expressing his deep shock at the beheading of an American journalist by the knife of an Islamic State murderer. Truly, a wicked deed. On August 19, just one day before that horrific execution, the prime minister approved the killing of an 8-month-old baby together with his mother, in the hope that the father would be with them and also be killed. The assassination was carried out. Success was partial; baby and mother were crushed, the fate of the father is unknown." Death of Israeli child reveals Netanyahu's hypocrisy Netanyahu recently told two U.S. congressman that Hamas, Hezbollah and other Islamist groups are defying all international norms. So said the man who has just finished killing some 2,100 people.

The self-hating, anti-semite Jewish lobby group, J-Street: THE SETTLEMENTS ARE ILLEGAL. IT'S PAST TIME TO SAY SO. Sunday's land-grab of almost 1000 acres in the West Bank is illegal under international treaties that Israel has signed, and--as Israel's strongest ally and closest friend--the US needs to say so. President Obama, the subtle condemnations aren't working. It's time to make it plain to the Israeli government that continued settlement expansion isn't just an obstacle to peace, it's against American interests, American policy, and the Geneva Convention.

He is trying to legitimize another internationally recognized illegal action by Israel. This is what Zionist apologists do. "Jewish immigration to Palestine" - What a joke.
-
No. Zip over your head. Hamas is not an internationally recognized terrorist group. This is not about what your definition of a terrorist group is or mine, or Hudson's or anyone else's. This is about the misinformation that Hamas is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization. They are not.

You are fumbling into another one of your diatribe with your melodramatic, unnecessary, untrue comments such as the last sentence. Stop being that person. Just so we are clear; I despise many things about Hamas. Including their mafia like treatment of Palestinians where they execute their own without any due process. I despise the fact that they have used children to dig tunnels, in which many of them died as a result. Of course, I also despised their actions in the past, including suicide attacks where they targeted civilians. That said, their shortcommings doesn't legitimize any group or state to do what Israel did. Namely, to collectively punish a group of people. To kill innocent women and children. Israel's actions cannot be excused. Not according to my morality and not according to international law.

Yes. This is fascism: Israeli military court indicts Palestinian who criticized IDF commander on Facebook Zahada Suheib of Hebron is charged with publishing a message with diplomatic significance, threatening a soldier, insulting a soldier, attempted persuasion to throw an incendiary projectile and calling for holding a march without a permit. The Ofer Military Court decided on Wednesday to ban an arrested Palestinian from entering Facebook after he criticized the commander of the Golani Brigade, and conditioned his release on a bail deposit of NIS 10,000. Only after an appeal was filed did the court decide to void the prohibition on entering Facebook and to reduce the bail to NIS 4,000.
