  1. As an expert on Islam and Muslims, glad to have your input. I love it when you come in these threads and with high confidence announce the dangers of Islam and Muslims. I mean, take a look at the issues we have right here in Canada, where Muslims are pushing their veils onto our women! You have been warning everyone for years. One Muslim terrorist attack after another in Canada. Glad to have you here! Could you tell us more about the FOBs? A man with your class and the love for the finer things in life must enjoy whoppers at least twice a week?
  2. Don't you think this is beautiful? link
  3. No. I don't think wanting to know the ethnicity of a person is being racist. I was going to make a joke about bland food experience. But I won't. There is nothing wrong with your ethnic background. What I do find wrong is making a snap judgement on someone based on their ethnic background, without really knowing them. Sometimes I catch myself doing that from time to time. Sometimes I apply stereotypes, which I don't think is right. But overall, I think, because I meet people from all over the world in my line of work and because of where I live, I've had a lot of experiences with a variety of people. I try to hold my thoughts (judgement) on a person until I have gotten to know them better. I've met good, honest, productive and valuable members of society with a variety of backgrounds. I could say the same for meeting people with negative traits and characteristics. Someone's ethnicity should not define them.
  4. So you're saying that the value of his comments is contingent on his ethnicity? Weird.
  5. The East Coast provinces are a good example of what would happen if the population declines and jobs are not replaced. When dying industries, like fishing and natural resource industries, can no longer support families. When people retire and the young people move away to other parts of the country/world. This is why the eastern provinces have put into place aggressive immigration programs, to draw would-be immigrants to their provinces, instead of them always going to the usual: Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary.
  6. No. I don't. That's what YOU say I do. You lack knowledge and understanding in how our immigration system works and the dynamics in employment. You believing that a Canadian citizen born in Canada should be treated differently than a Canadian citizen born outside of Canada is absurd. Keep digging. You're not here to have a debate or to learn. You're here to spread your racist views. Your views and debating skills are toxic and un-Canadian. I'm going to turn you off for now. Enjoy your echo chamber of bigotry.
  7. It makes a counter argument to those who suggest that our immigration system is open doors to anyone and everyone.
  8. How do these inevitable changes (transition) make you feel?
  9. I didn't. I never "defended bringing in desperate third world people to keep wages low." You lie. I don't care. A citizen is a citizen. How recent? Are you digging into your archive of old news again? Your problem is that you cannot comprehend that things are always in a state of flux. There are many more tech companies in Canada this year, then there were even 3 years ago. My company doesn't focus on technology, but we do have tech roles in our company. Despite offering very competitive salaries to hire programmers and software engineers, it's very difficult to find employees. This is the case for many of our clients, Canadian and American tech companies, who have a difficult time finding tech workers. This has nothing to do with wages. Salaries are usually over $85K/year with majority over $100K. The problem is that there is a shortage of workers. Not only Canadian graduates, but also graduates all over the world. The tech industry doesn't see borders. They just want to hire as many capable as possible. You seem to think you know so much about what we do. Give me an example of this exploitation by our company. If you like, I can give you many examples of your toxic mindset.
  10. They are rising. Are you not reading the wealth of information being shared here? The number of tech companies, jobs and salaries are rising. The wage gap is getting closer.
  11. This is what the latest discussion is about. The tide is changing. Tech companies, jobs and salaries in Canada are increasing. The movement is reversing.
  12. This is true. It still happens. Despite the gap getting closer, U.S. companies are still paying engineers and tech workers more money. Do you blame anyone who wants to be paid more?
  13. What? Who said this is what I do? You get angry when I correct you and then you go and make shit up. You are so toxic. Almost all of our employees are Canadian citizens. The two foreign workers that work for our company are making more than $20k over the median salary in Canada. Are they making more than you? Does it matter? No. You can't do what they do. If you can, send over your resume. We're desperate to find skilled tech workers! Are you not reading what is being shared here? Because of free market and the demand for skilled workers, the salaries ARE going up in Canada. Why are so resistant to reality? You are toxic. Your toxic mind is spewing anger and incoherent ramblings. A recent graduate in engineering or tech in Canada, at one point, went down south, because there were many jobs in Silicon Valley that paid over $100K. Same thing with Indian graduates in tech. They went to the U.S., because of better opportunities. More recently, especially in the past few years, there are fewer people doing that. Why? Because Canada has become more desirable. Part of it is due to the increase in number of jobs, which has resulted in an increase in salary. But there are other factors as well. Who said Canadians are not being employed? Why do you make shit up? It's not going to happen, due to supply and demand. Why are you so against the free market? Are you asking for regulations on who companies can hire? Do you want Canada to implement a no brown people policy, because Argus doesn't like non-white people? You don't seem to get it. Canada and the U.S. do not have enough workers to fill jobs in the technology sector, so they have to look outside of the country for these skilled workers. Why is this so difficult for you to grasp? Are you reading this? Is your hate for brown people and your toxic mindset preventing you from understanding reality? What are you talking about? The difference between the salaries for a software engineer, between U.S. and Canada is $140,000 vs $100,000. Brown people will continue to move to Canada, and they will continue to improve Canada, and there is nothing you can do to stop that.
  14. Are you talking about Permanent Residency? Because that's not what I'm talking about and it's not what the discussion of foreign workers is about. We're talking about foreign workers. Understanding immigration matters.
  15. No. It's not because of immigration. If this was the case, how come the wages are higher in the States? Historically, they have relied heavily on foreign workers there as well, especially in the tech industry.
  16. Then the employer would not be able to sponsor the foreign worker. Part of the application is to show ads, where the salary is at or higher than the prevailing wage for the occupation, for that location. So these ads you're seeing is not for foreign workers. They are for Canadians.
  17. You seem to be against how the free market works. Supply and demand. You also seem to be clueless as to what is happening in the tech industry in Canada and around the world. Life doesn't stand still. Your idea of how things work are outdated and misinformed. There was a time when we didn't have a diverse market. We had the subsidized manufacturing industry in Ontario and Quebec and the subsidized energy industry in Alberta and BC. Time brings change and transition. The appetite to run a tech company in Canada is no longer scary. Our corporate taxes are actually very inviting. This is why we are seeing so many successful Canadian tech companies starting in Canada and not moving to Silicon Valley. We're also seeing American companies moving up to Canada, because of the highly educated workforce and a better immigration system, where it's easier for skilled workers to move here. We also have a change in the mindset of skilled workers around the world. The higher salaries in the U.S. are no longer enough to attract talent. The millenials and GenZ care a lot more about quality of life. All of this is a recipe for Canada's booming tech industry. With more employers and jobs in Canada, there will be more competition for workers. Much more than before. The competition for workers will drive the salaries higher. I don't understand what you want here. Do you want to regulate Canadian companies in what they are paying employees? Do you want Canadian employers to set up shop outside of Canada, because Bobby Smith doesn't like brown tech workers entering Canada? Stop with the "Leftist", "Rightist" comments. I refuse to play your childish games. I refuse to be pigeon-holed. Just because you're anti-immigration, does that mean that you're pro Trump? No. Just because I'm pro responsible immigration, it doesn't mean that I support the NDP. As an insider, I am teaching you about the industries and immigration and instead of being grateful, you're being rude about it. Here is more information about the tech industry and the value of skilled workers, Canada's fight for them and how things work. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/google-canada-expansion-analysis-1.5455122 https://www.randstad.ca/employers/workplace-insights/job-market-in-canada/canadas-tech-industry-is-growing-up-where-were-headed-next/ https://www.npr.org/2020/01/27/799402801/canada-wins-u-s-loses-in-global-fight-for-high-tech-workers https://www.mentorworks.ca/blog/market-trends/canadian-technology-industry/
  18. Here is the information, on prevailing wage and the rules: If you want to learn more, go here.
  19. You can't work for half the wages. That's BS. I'm not sure what company you work for, but there are rules in place, where the Canadian entity must pay at the prevailing salary, for that position, in that location, if they want to hire a foreign worker. It's rare, but it happens, where the employer may have a contract to pay someone a certain wage, but once they arrive, they don't pay them that wage. This mostly happens when it comes to low or semi-skilled positions. Like plant or farm workers. Not when it comes to the tech industry. If the same employer wants to hire someone through the same process, they must show through payroll deductions, that they paid the previous foreign worker the wage that was agreed upon. If they don't, they not only won't be able to hire a foreign worker, but they will be penalized. Canadian immigration is very dynamic. This is one of the strengths of the immigration system. This is something that Harper and his immigration minister, Kenney, implemented. They added rules that has made it very difficult for employers to cheat the system. It's working. There is a big difference with how immigration was 10 years ago + and now. This is one of the central problems with Argus' argument. He finds outdated information, in order to try to support his anti-immigration (from non-white countries) views.
  20. The contempt you have for people from people outside of Europe is sad to witness. The truth is that an overwhelming majority of people who immigrate to Canada, from developing countries, are better educated and a lot more sophisticated than you are. LOL @ calling David Suzuki's nature shows, racist.
  21. Biden is as dirty a politician as you can get. Over 40 years in politics and he achieved nothing for the people. He's a shill for lobbyists. That's usually the case for majority of lifelong politicians. They're in it for themselves. Biden is another Clinton. On the other side, you have Trump. He is certainly different than the usual politician. But he is corrupt in his own way. He has business deals with corrupt governments. He has family involved in many of these. He has used his position to leverage these business deals. The sad and pathetic thing in front of us are the cheerleaders on both sides. They somehow turn a blind eye to the corruption on the side they're cheering for.
  22. You don't know what you're talking about. Historically, Canada's tech salaries has lagged behind not only the U.S. but the rest of the world as well. However, that has been changing rapidly, especially in the past 5 years. You need to accept this reality - This is from 2019: Average compensation within Toronto’s technology industry is higher than ever and increasing faster than any other major tech hub surveyed worldwide. According to a recent study by tech-job site Hired, the average salary of the city’s technology industry workers increased by 9 per cent in the past twelve months. The rate of growth ties with Boston and far surpasses other major hubs such as Seattle, Washington, Chicago, Paris, London and the Bay Area. Ref Wrong. There are sectors that are starving for workers. You just don't know it, because you're not experiencing it. You don't know what you're talking about. I don't have time for your constant misinformation. Instead, if you really want to learn about our system, instead of digging in with stubbornness, because you don't want brown people to move to Canada, here is a place to start and learn: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Points-based_immigration_system
  23. As an employer, this is great news for me. It doesn't matter if I am offering a salary well above the median average salary for administration and tech positions, I have an extremely hard time finding employees. With all of the tech companies opening up offices in Canada, it's great to see that our immigration system, both under the Harper government and the Trudeau government, are responding to the need of skilled workers. I love the fact that Canada is starting to be known as the top destination for many sought after skilled workers who have numerous options around the world. Our immigration system and its success are the envy of many countries around the world, including Donald Trump. Go Canada Go!
  24. There seems to be such resistance to Innovation + Technology. Once the bags are banned, we will continue to come up with better alternatives. Stop being so afraid of change.
  25. Out of a population of 80 million, 40,000 people demonstrated against wearing masks and other covid19 related restrictions.
