  1. Gordon Moore’s comments played out incorrect as per (now) historic.
  2. Do you actually understand what the “normal protocol” (Order of Precedence) is for both serving and retired members (officers and the ranks) of the armed forces? Once you learn this, you will be aware that it was followed.
  3. Sure I did......Especially the header…….even though the leaked “crux” of said article alludes to events that took place several years ago……Of course presently, as already mentioned, the F-35A (what we will be getting) and the F-35B are in regular squadron service providing the transition training for both new and experienced aviators going forward.
  4. How was it political? Both the leaders of the Liberals and NDP were invited, but chose not to go.
  5. Aside from a few exchanges with the USN, we haven’t been flying the Super Hornet…..at all. Of course, the more apt question, would the Super Hornet meet requirements once it’s retired by the USN and RAAF in the early 2030s and we still have a requirement for a modern fighter out to the 2050s.......simply put, it won't. Who is nervous? All the respective F-35 user's armed forces are awaiting both the improved and in many cases, completely new capabilities that the F-35 will bring to the table for their force structures.
  6. Why wasn’t it? The last Canadian Commander in Afghanistan handed it to the Chief of Defence staff, who handed over to the Prime Minister (the head of the elected Government), who handed it over to the Governor General, the head of the armed forces……..The Military’s Order of Precedence, as such, very fitting….could only have been trumped by the GG finally handing it over to the Queen.
  7. I guess you didn't watch it....Prime Minister Harper handed said Canadian flag over to the GG
  8. What American pilots? The F-35 program? Then why have no members left and new nations have joined and others are inching towards the program? Seems odd for a program that you claim has "fallen apart". Again, the Canadian involvement in the program began under Chrétien and was continued by both the Martin and Harper Governments. With your analogy, that I take exception to, are you suggesting that the RCAF isn’t capable of defining the requirements of a modern fighter force, to carry out it’s mandate instilled by the elected Government?
  9. This is true, but without it and largess from the rest of the Kingdom, their road is only tougher to hoe.
  10. That is a very good point, but to expanded upon that meme, electronic communications between two individuals is akin to two people having a conversation at a table in a restaurant, as such, if their conversation is overheard by a third party (include a State actor), they have no legal expectation of privacy.
  11. I noticed that both Trudeau and Mulcair didn’t attend the ceremony…….Further demonstration that their respective parties support of the military is a mile wide (at times), but an inch deep.
  12. What pilots are afraid of it? As to any conjured “Harper dug holes”, our involvement with the JSF program begin during the Chrétien era.
  13. The “B” and “A” have entered (training) squadron service with the USAF and the Marines, displacing Hornets (of the same vintage or newer then ours), Harriers and F-16s. As to the current government “being gone”, I doubt it, but none the less, would you suggest that a hypothetical Trudeau Liberal Government won’t select the F-35?
  14. And to add the territorial claims to the Beatrice offshore wind-farm….to say nothing of the loss of their equivalent form of transfer payments……Scotland would strive to be a second world nation on it’s own…. Devolution or bust.
  15. I tend to agree with you on any direct involvement within Ukraine proper, but if the conflict expands beyond into the surrounding NATO member's territories, the inclusion of Canada into a war with the Soviets Russians was predetermined back in the spring of 1949.…
  16. I would hope that Jean-Paul Paloméros and the Armée de l'Air were informed, coupled with the deployed forces on operation Pamir and Héraklès.....
  17. That’s not true. Lockheed can start deliveries of our initial tranche of aircraft within three years of us signing the contract.
  18. Yes indeed…..as will the F-15 line, coupled with LockMart shutting down the F-16 line very soon.
  19. This is very true, the stars numbers are starting to align. And yes, the partner nations air forces, navies and marines understand that going forward into this century, the attributes the F-35 brings to the table (stealth, synergies within net-centric warfare etc) will make legacy aircraft akin to Victorian era infantry adorned in colourful uniforms and relying upon message runners to communicate between formations.
  20. Not a single member has left the program…….but various nations have joined. No they didn’t…..too add, both nations have (or are currently building) aircraft carriers tailored to the F-35B.
  21. Simply put, like the Liberals and NDP, the current Government doesn’t fully understand the accounting minutia from within the puzzle factory that is the Department of National Defence…… If there are failings in selling the program, both within Canada and the partner nations, that is the “fault” of both Lockheed and the respective nation’s militaries…
  22. And rightfully so….especially Colorado Democrats, aided by Bloomberg, that lost their seats during last years recall.
