Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't think Trudeau/LPC is lying, I know they are by the very LPC resources I posted in the OP......in no way, shape or form does C-42 change the current rules and regulations encompassing legal and safe transport of firearms. -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Is Trudeau "grappling for votes" by lying about Bill C-42 and opposing bringing back another long gun registry? -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I've outlined several times what the intent of C-42 is and what changes will be brought about with its passage.........How has a Bill drafted and tabled within a mater of months "hoodwinked" anyone into voting for the Conservatives? Are you now suggesting the Tories retained their two seats in the recent bye-elections because of C-42? If so, I thought you also suggested gun laws were a non-issue......... Now, why do the NDP and Liberals oppose bringing back a revamped LGR, likewise, why do they oppose C-42, so much so that the LPC has engaged in a series of obvious lies over the content of C-42? As suggested by another member, the Liberals are creating "fear" and playing wedge politics with the issue (poorly I might add based on recent polling), but I recall Trudeau stated he didn't want to pit Canadians against other Canadians, nor campaign on "fear"......yet based on these recent adds, the Liberal Party of Canada is attempting exactly that...... -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually, that is exactly what you're doing by suggesting the LGR would have prevented Lepine's "rampage"...... No it didn't.....but by all means, explain why it is you feel it did. How so? How is Bill C-42 "BS"? -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually you're wrong on all counts......the LGR didn't prevent the mentally ill or criminals from obtaining firearms. Also Lepine's rifle (Ruger Mini-14) is not a restricted firearm........The Dawson collage "rampage" took place at the height of the LGR.... So why do the Liberals and NDP, like the Tories, oppose a registry of long guns? -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How is C-42 a "slack gun law"? It further prevents violent people from obtaining legal firearms. Nice deflection, but you didn't answer the question, how would a registry of guns prevent Lepine's rampage? Also, if a long gun registry is an effective tool against "carnage like in the United States", why do both the Liberals and NDP oppose bringing back a revamped registry? -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, I do understand you equating carnage here and there..........what you've failed to mention, is how (in your view) Bill C-42 will introduce "carnage" here... How would a registry have prevented Lepine's rampage? I never suggested that it was.......C-42 will enhance firearms safety (by requiring the RCMP firearms safety course) and prevent those with violent criminal records from obtaining a Firearms License.....The Liberals oppose C-42, likewise, they oppose bringing back a revamped registry for long guns.....Do you agree with the Liberals's disjointed policy with regards to firearms? -
I've yet to see how this is a poor reflection on the Obama administration.......In my view, its far better they attempted a rescue and failed, than another beheading video produced......likewise, without hearing the operational facts, I think most would give the SEALS some leeway, they might not be perfect, but they're pretty damned close.

Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What are you talking about? How does, in your mind, combining a license (RPAL) and a permit (ATT) into one, lifetime license bans for people with violent pasts and requiring applicants to undergo a safety course equate to carnage? As to vote share, why would both the Liberals and now the NDP come out against a revamped gun registry? Didn't the LGR prevent "carnage"? -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I understand why the NFA is slamming C-42, in their view, it does little to nothing for the pro-gun crowd and they won't be happy until the entire Firearms Act is repealed.......I've no idea why the Liberals (or NDP) oppose it, nor what they hope to gain by lying about its intent. -
$72,000 to move a couple of blocks? Andrew Leslie
Derek 2.0 replied to PIK's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And more news on the retired General: And police had to be called in to break-up a fist fight....between Liberal camps.... Perhaps the General should have used the 72k to move to Orleans....... I think, from today's events, in the months ahead, this picture will be a more common practice among fair-weather LPC members: Brison in 2019 anyone? -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No, I very much understand both the Bill, current rules and regulations encompassing Canadian Firearms law and what will and won't change..... -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No it doesn't.....again, that is false. The Authorization to Transport (ATT) is currently a stand-alone permit, obtained after purchasing a restricted firearm, that allows the holder to transport said firearm to and from ranges, gun clubs, gun shows, gunsmiths and Ports of entry.....With C-42, the ATT will be combined with the holders restricted licence. All of the rules and restrictions within a ATT currently, will be maintained within a holders RPAL.......Nothing changes other than the licence and transport permit being made as one. -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not unless the person received a lifetime ban, C-42 ensures any violent convictions prevent obtaining a firearms license. No it doesn't........the transport restrictions stay exactly the same, the difference, the RPAL and ATT are now combined as one. -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It is, the actual transport restrictions do not change one iota........And how does it rob Peter to pay Paul? -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
C-42 doesn't change any restrictions found within an RPAL holders ATT. -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So you admit the content of this Liberal add is utterly false, aimed and creating unfounded fear over a piece of legislation that will actually strengthen gun laws in Canada. -

How does that differ from today? -

But enough of an issue to bring it up in an add.........all the while misrepresenting the actual contents of C-42. -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That is clearly the objective: fear But the Liberals urban targets will be namely NDP supporters.....where is the upside in attacking Bill C-42? As stated though, and confirmed by Liberal MP Wayne Easter, talk of gun control cost the Liberals ~60 seats during the 2011 election, as evident, the Liberals path to Government will require breaking into Tory rural and suburban strongholds, of which, gun owners be found. -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The previous LGR was very much a wedge issue in several election cycles. This above meme is another Liberal political misstep devoid of an upside for them.........if gun control was not an issue, why are both the Liberals and NDP flirting with it, likewise opposing a Government bill that will make it even harder for those with violent pasts from legally obtaining firearms.......perhaps its a non-issue for yourself, which is fine, but it is a political issue for many. -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The point has missed you......The Liberals are opposing the Government's law (Bill C-42) that strengthens current gun laws, including lifetime bans for those with violent pasts and mandates safety courses are not challenged, coupled with the above mentioned falsehood encompassing the requirement for RPAL holders to obtain an ATT..... The Liberals have not offered anything, likewise are alienating themselves (yet again) from a large voting block......this recent move is not politically smart.... -
Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That is a real apt point, but, how many now won't vote Liberal......Mark Holland knows all to well......Likewise Wayne Easter: As mentioned though, there is nothing within C-42 that supports the Liberals boldfaced lies and obvious fear mongering......As mentioned, the NDP retracted a proposed registry redux within 72 hours for fear of the backlash within their own rural ridings. I'm a biased Tory supporter and gun owner, that is very clear, but I don't see any upside to this for the Liberals....and only positives for the Tories....bad political move to create another wedge issue where none exists. -
Perhaps, but outside of local news coverage, the amount of National and International coverage daily violence in Chicago receives is next to nothing when compared to Brown (or the recent incident in New York).......As to the onus, one would think the protesters intent is to receive coverage of their cause to gain support.....why aren't they protesting daily in Chicago, the Presidents hometown.......clearly sit-ins outside of Bears/Blackhawks/Bulls games, or chaining themselves to City Hall, corporate offices etc would garner more coverage........this effort will fade from the public sphere in the weeks ahead..... Hence, in my opinion, this is both a wasted and misguided effort and will result in nothing.

Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Derek 2.0 replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
In my mind, this one is up there with "Harper putting troops in the cities".......and the thing of it is, I can't fathom why they would waste the political capital on this, as there is nothing that could be seen as controversial with Bill C-42....as mentioned, the pro gun lobby group the NFA has even criticized the Bill, as a waste of time and an attack on gun owners, since applicants can no longer challenge the safety course and opt straight for the test...... The Liberals should fire the person who came up with this meme......look at the NDP, after Mulcair said he'd bring back the LGR, the backlash from rural NDP members forced the NDP to recant on another registry.......Liberal Wayne Easter stated (during the LPC policy convention this year) that "gun control" cost the Liberals upwards of 60 seats in 2011......... This is already being played upon for fundraising by the Tories, and without a doubt, will cost the Liberals to some degree in terms of the several million gun owners across the country........total own goal on the part of the LPC.
