Well I have, likewise pointing out the actual post protest inquiries and their recommendations.......
-
And that confirms my point........several decades ago, the West wouldn't have tolerated the current Russian actions in Ukraine...
-
So if a member of the RCMP drives drunk or a member of the military beats his wife, that’s an indictment on the entire membership of each organization? Clearly then, if a follower of Islam is involved in terror attack, then all followers of Islam………..Sounds kinda stupid eh? Now reread your point on the police/military......
-
Where did I suggest I wanted to restrict the right to protest? I’ve clearly made the distinction between peaceful protest (like the Occupy movement) and militant protests that involve the destruction of both private and public property…..
-
Without a doubt, but then the West was prepared to fight a nuclear conflict if the Russians rode through the Fulda Gap.........Make no mistake, if the Soviets annexed a portion of West Germany in the 80s, WW III would have been on like Donkey Kong...
-
I disagree, outside of proxy wars and border skirmishes, no two nuclear armed states have fought a sustained war…….Inversely, because Putin has large stockpiles of nuclear weapons, the probability of direct Western intervention against Russia is greatly reduced, which of course was not the case with Hitler…… Though I don’t discount that presently Putin is probably not as evil (or as insane) as Hitler, up to the start of the Second World War, many Western leaders didn’t think Hitler was all that bad either. Unlike Hitler though, as mentioned, Putin’s Russia has the greater potential to be far more dangerous then Hitler’s Nazi Germany……So is Putin presently as bad as Hitler? Not at all, but he has the potential to be far more dangerous to, likewise the rest of the World is greatly hindered in directly confronting him….and Putin knows this.
-
Exactly, there is enough Soviet era arms and munitions within Eastern (NATO) European warehouses to fight three or four wars with the Russians……if one was to combine these with Western MANPADS, TOW/Javelin anti-tank missiles and Western satellite/signals intelligence, the Ukrainians could maintain, at worse, a stalemate with the Russians…….
-
Putin has the ability to kill as many (or more) people as Hitler did inside an hour........
-
Ukrainian 7.62x39 steel core ammo works exactly the same as Russian 7.62x39 steel core ammo…….likewise supplying the Ukrainians with Polish, German, Czech, Hungarian and Romanian 7.62x39 steel core ammo would equal the same result…. Though the Russians have a far larger military, their ability to deploy and sustain a large force in the field, even just across their own border, is in doubt…….The Ukrainians (with Western aid) might very well not win a war against the Russians, but they sure wouldn’t lose a war to them either….
-
After the recent threat from ISIS-Libya, it appears the Italians are now weighing their options on military action(Containment, not war) in North Africa.........Not surprised, like the French, the Italians have had illegal migrants flooding their borders from North Africa for decades, its not a mater of if but when we see ISIS inspired violence within Italy (Or maybe the Vatican?).....
-
A similar reaction to what previous American administrations have done……From the onset of hostilities by Russian troops Ukrainian rebels, purchase the surplus Eastern Bloc weapons and munitions sitting in Eastern European NATO members arms depots and warehouses and donate them to the Kiev Government. Followed by working with NATO in providing training and intelligence to the Ukrainians and perhaps even forgiving any debt owed by the Ukrainians……… If the situation continues to worsen, or is escalated by the Russians, forward deploy NATO forces to former Soviet bases in Eastern Poland….
-
Within the purview of Canadian law........the police do not require a warrant to detain/arrest someone.
-
Right, because actual tough sanctions that disable a well armed nation's economy worked ever so great against the Empire of Japan.......
-
Valid points, but by the same token, the Second World War could have been prevented or significantly shortened had the British (and Commonwealth), French and Americans acted once Hitler annexed the Sudetenland in 1938…..Does this mean Putin is the next Hitler and we’re about to fight a third world war? I don’t know, but Putin, like Hitler, is intent on “reuniting” ethnic Russians in neighbouring countries into a strong centralized Russian state.
-
Is that your assertion? I ask because I've yet to find that conclusion from within the report.......But from the actual report, on the detentions: furthermore: Likewise, and similar to the APEC inquiry: So police should further notify demonstrators prior to the commencement of police action, then once policing action has begun, the police should make more effort in determining who’s innocent prior to mass detentions, and of those detained that won’t be charged, it should be communicated further that they can apply to have their arrest record expunged…………….. So where in the findings does it confirm your assertion that the mass arrests were illegal?

F-35 Purchase Cancelled; CF-18 replacement process begins
Derek 2.0 replied to Moonbox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That’s dependant on a whole host of circumstances…….how long is that piece of string? So you made a baseless assertion that you can not prove…….I’m shocked!!! That ~25% of their shells were duds raises doubts that they could hit a large stationary city? Apples, meet oranges………. Nice dodge……..does naval artillery require more or less calculated variables than artillery bombarding a fixed point from a fixed location? Like something from the DoD? -
None, but then the APEC inquiry didn’t find any criminal wrongdoing on the part of the RCMP (or the PMO) and recommended in future that both better response planning (i.e. the prevention of protestors from blocking numerous roadways, which required a haphazard police response during APEC) and clearer communications with protestors prior to police action that could result in physical confrontation between police and protestors………… Of course such recommendations are now implemented by all Canadian police forces and is why in an example like the G20, numerous no-go security zones were set-up prior and police would repeatedly tell protestors to disperse prior to cracking skulls.
-
I already said, from the cited examples, that those individual members that broke the laws got deserved repercussions……..I just don’t buy into the casting of blanket, yet baseless and unsupported, assertions.
-
Right, and of those police members committing criminal acts, they too (like all Canadian citizens), are held to account.....and rightfully so. ----- All of this of course doesn't speak to the presumed rights to be taken away by C-51.......or lack there of.
-
I assume you meant: some police are committing criminal as well........
-
I would assume the OP’s correlation between Finland and Putin’s Russia is a reference to historic aggression on the part of Russians towards Finns, dating back several hundred years……and most recently.......
-
Likewise, I (and you) don't get a say when some citizens choose to smash storefronts and torch police cars......or commit murder and rape.....drink and drive....neglect their children etc.
-
If warranted, certainly, then again, we have prisons full of Canadians that have had their “rights taken away”………
-
Oh, ok..... Cool story.... Really....wow.....were just sitting down in the streets eh...... How does one knock over security fencing sitting in the streets though.......and when they did sit in the streets, they blocked off a major artery of the city (Marine drive), attempting to close off access to the airport from the downtown core....
-
But if the use of cameras smokes out illegal police action(s), and as a result, only two officers are charged, out of thousands present, that clearly helps police.
