  1. As always.......reaching to dated information: That's not what his source's latest forecast says: Furthermore:
  2. I've heard two more names mentioned: Gov. Tim Pawlenty as Treasury Secretary Gov. Sam Brownback as Secretary of Agriculture
  3. Called it.........smart move, he's a bridge between the establishment and the Trump/Tea Party wing
  4. Of course....but then he was from one of the rust belt States. It can be, if its filling a niche need or is competitive with existing businesses........the problem with government programs, In BC I would assume you're talking about Community Futures, is that they tend to have a very weak means test and are run by Government employees, devoid of any semblance of business sense......ie, someone receiving a grant in Kim City to open a typewriter dealership or video rental store......in most cases, if there was a need in said community for such an establishment, someone with money would have already done it.....even then, most businesses fail within their first year, and very few will make an actual profit for years yet. Its a zero sum game though......Trump could tear-up the US-Canada Auto Pact and offer incentives for various Auto related industries in Canada (and Mexico) to return to the United States......its zero sum because Canadians and Mexicans would loose their jobs....but then they don't vote in US elections........
  5. I don't think anyone, from either side, has done that........the difference, Trump and Sanders have listened to these disenfranchised voters and promised to address their problems......whether they can, long term, or not is the million dollar question. As it stands, Trump listening and echoing these concerns has won him the election.....getting reelected will be the hard part.
  6. Build a wall, with checkpoints, on the outside of their nation if they don't wish to play ball.
  7. Simple.......Trump could slap huge tariffs on such countries goods......
  8. There is wall and fencing along ~25-30% of the Southern border......
  9. They're already used......including on the Canadian border.
  10. That's Trump's plan.......using fencing where a wall wouldn't be possible.
  11. By happenstance, two of the larger producers of cement in the United States are in Pennsylvania....likewise rebar production......Without a doubt the "Great Wall of Trump" will touch every important State
  12. That's easy, well Canada brings in a national carbon tax, and increasing corporate and personal tax rates (also by the Ontario government), Trump cuts rates, has no carbon tax, decreased energy costs and tears up the Canada-US Auto-Pact...the threat of levies and tariffs wouldn't hurt either........Without a doubt Trump will peel off Canadian jobs...that should be a given.......and is why Ottawa and Toronto are "rumored" to be freaking out...... The same can easily apply to BC and Quebec's forestry and power generation industries.......Alberta and Sask. O&G industries....etc
  13. I know the numbers, the last Reagan appointment and both of Clintons are in their late 70s and early 80s.....Clearance Thomas (Bush the elder) is also in his late 60s.........leaving the two Bush the younger and two Obama appointments...... Trump has two years to appoint anyone he wants, assume the GOP retains the Senate in 2018, he would have four years....after that, its a crap shoot......Now its not too much of a stretch to assume Reagan's appointment (maybe even Clarence Thomas) might retire in the next four years, giving Trump two more appointments.........inversely, its not much of a stretch to assume the two oldest Democrats try to hang on.
  14. There is currently 1 Justice to replace........
  15. Yeah but...........the pitchfork populists on both sides never explained to the out-of-work rust belt workers that of the ~7 million jobs lost over the last several decades, ~6 million of them were replaced by robots and other forms of automation....not Mexicans.....
  16. They held the majority in the Supreme Court.........through the Bush and Obama administrations.
  17. I've little doubt in my mind, if given the keys to Homeland Defense, Arpaio would be the person to be the face of the illegal Mexican round-up.....that is but one issue, by its very nature, that will be divisive for some ( not quite, but close to, Julian Scherner divisive levels), but for many, many Americans, it is fully expected and supported.........George Wallace had Bull Connor.......Arpaio would fill the same role (of public asshole #1) for Trump.
  18. Another couple of Trump cabinet rumors: Secretary of Homeland Defense: Sheriff Joe Arpaio......he's got experience rounding up border jumpers...... UN Ambassador: Kelly Ayotte Lost her Senate seat in New Hampshire, some suggest because she didn't support Trump.....this would be seen as a way to heal the riff within the GOP Secretary of the Navy: Congressmen Randy Forbes......he's already the Chair of the seapower and projection forces (USMC) subcommittee in Congress.....Somebody experienced is going to be needed for the planned expansion of the USN and USMC.......Forbes, along with the SECDEF (Jeff Sessions?) have been critical of the loafing on defense spending by NATO members, including Canada, and are expected to be delivering a terse ultimatum to NATO's freeloaders within the first 100 days in office....
  19. That's devoid or reality.........already Trump is clawing back his most egregious proposals.........from day one he will be planning his reelection.....when his election required centrists (and people not to vote) to get into office, he's not going to alienate them. The bible thumpers and bead rubbers aren't going to support a socially liberal-Democrat.....full stop......As I said, I've no doubt every group will get something, for the Religious Right I've no doubt some form of Religious Freedoms bill and defunding Planned Parenthood........but in the Rust Belt and important down ballot races, what gave Trump/ the GOP the election, was the NRA and scared gun owners. (Image: NRA funding of candidates.)
  20. No, not at all, I've no doubt that certain groups will be fed, what will seem to them, shit sandwiches......that's only natural, after nearly a decade of them feeding the like to the groups now in power......payback is a bitch. -But- I don't think it will be anywhere as bad as what many, including you, are suggesting. My thoughts exactly.......its a Reagan-like, big tent, win, that wasn't stressed tested with higher voter turnout.....The key, already, is to win reelection with what I will assume to be a far more engaged voter pool in 2020......he won't do that by pissing off the independents, moderates and blue-dog Reagan Democrats that got him elected.
  21. Exactly.......like abortion rights and marriage equality over the last several decades. Inversely, a Christian baker or Islamic hairdresser could be made to feel a burden in practicing their religions if forced, through legal action, to serve a gay couple. And said law didn't see the light of day as originally written.......reflecting the views of most of the population. That could be the case, or in reality Trump might not actually have a hate on for gay people..........my point in showing the clip though was more so the reaction of the crowd. I'll stop you right there.........I'll wait for the legislation that bans gay people and abortion.
  22. Exactly: Which suggests that if the GOP makes inroads and attains even 1/3rd of those seats, if America isn't Great Again in 2020, they would still likely control the Senate and Congress.
  23. Sure, and LBJ's Civil Rights Act divorced the Democrats from their then power base found within the majority of the Southern States.....and resulted in the Republicans winning 5 of the next 6 elections....... And in the case of religion, it is granted enshrined. So the moral of the story.......Indiana's lawmakers ceded to the views of the people? Congress yes, I was referring to the Senate ( 1/3rd of the Senate every 2 years)......as I said, unlike this recent election, most will be currently Democrats.....Congress itself should be considered a GOP given. Trump is a pitchfork populist, he'll say whatever's popular, to whomever.
  24. The GOP has been comprised of the Religious Right for decades..... ......The Tea Party has nothing to do with the party's stance on Roe vs. Wade In two years, thanks to to current cycle and happenstance, the majority of those up for reelection in the midterms are Democrats...............but in four years Trump will want to be reelected, a reelection that will require Trump keeping all those Reagan Democrats onside......voters that are largely middle of the road and not necessarily social conservatives. No it isn't.......already Trump has walked back locking Clinton up and completely tearing up Obamacare, more so now "fixing it".....I don't expect him to close the abortions clinics and run off the gays.....
