  1. Let me educate you Betsy. Be careful when you blame women for their assaults Betsy. "They were so full of self-blame and shame from the original assault that they felt unable to act on their own behalf during the later sexual assault victimization.”
  2. Of course you are victim blaming. Asking a woman who has been assaulted if she was careless or too trusting takes responsibility from the perpetrator and puts it on the woman which is wrong on so many levels! It's very frustrating that we still have victim blaming in the thoughts of many people, especially women. Do you think that everything that happens to people is because they deserve it? Bad things happen to good people all the time. There are many reasons why women blame other women for assault. Betsy, do you feel that if you emotionally distance yourself from a victim, you won't be attacked because you aren't one of those girls? You shouldn't feel ashamed for victim blaming but you should take this as an opportunity to educate yourself and make a personal change and help other women who have been assaulted. When you make statements like this you are perpetuating negative ideas and beliefs about women.
  3. I'm all for getting rid of neo Nazis, white supremacists etc. And stop with the fonts. It's annoying and it's Sunday morning.
  4. That may be. It's a tough one to figure out.
  5. I had never heard of them either until very recently. Same with alt right, alt left etc. Amazing how trump can increase the profile of these terms.
  6. Well of course not. Have to keep the residents happy
  7. I too love the Olympics and watch as much of it as I can and I agree with your suggestions. Spreading the events over several countries will help to reduce costs, ensure countries get well needed venues and spread out the security costs. It's a shame that countries are no longer bidding simply because of the costs.
  8. Better still, extend an invitation to those who were permanently banned but were well liked here, to those who left because of the heavy handed moderation and to those who left because of the forum being over ridden with nutbars. The owner knows how to get in touch with them. You want to improve the site? Extend some Goodwill and good business practices like any other successful business and start a good will campaign otherwise this site is just gonna be left with, well I don't need to spell it out.
  9. Are you kidding me. A lot of posters have left that provided intelligent, thought provoking comments. This site is just full of right wing nutjob escapees. I can name a few: Cybercoma, Waldo, BC_Chick, Kimmy (here but no longer posting), smallc, and others. It is good to see Jaycee back!
  10. Thank goodness you don't work in the mental health industry.
  11. You forgot the U.S. as well. Did you count how many times Pence mentioned Trump's name in his speech to Rockland. We all know who his audience is. Trump and God.
  12. Your comments reflect the deeply entrenched stigma that recovering people face. Your comments and others here reflect great ignorance and baseless moralization that is unfortunately widespread in society. To improve successful recovery, addicts continually work on their integrity, values, sound judgement, ethics and responsibilities. Traits which are greatly needed in politicians. It's too bad we don't have more recovered addicts as our politicians to lead our country.
  13. I honestly think that because of trump's narcissistic personality it will be too foreign for him to express empathy, however it's good to see that Texas and now Louisiana are getting the help they need.
  14. I was addressing taxme getting all twisted out of shape. Your essay has nothing to do with my response to him.
  15. Countries have introduced child care subsidies to increase the birth rate. Even you said this is a form of daycare.
  16. If this incentive increases the birthrate, wouldn't that mean less immigration of those dark skinned immigrants.
  17. Some points to consider in this disaster: Isn't it ironic that this disaster has occurred after Trump has withdrawn from the Paris Climate Accord. So sad! Will he change his tune? It's so very hard for me to see any empathy expressed by Trump on this disaster, even after his tour of the area. I wonder how many bodies have yet to be discovered in those waters? Should there have been more mandatory evacuations in parts of Houston? Granted, the logistics for mandatory evacution of 2.5 million would be extremely difficult if not impossible, but should more counties have been evacuated?
  18. you talk as if having a feminist PM Is a bad thing? Is it and why is it?
  19. If there is no difference shown by age 3 then why the backlash against this program? If you want to increase the birth rate in Canada, having FDK would I think be one incentive.
  20. Communism! Key findings from year 3 of FDK in Peel: children who participated in FDK in comparison to children who participated in half-day kindergarten were significantly ahead in vocabulary at the end of kindergarten and have remained ahead in Grades 1 and 2. This is a very important finding given the critical foundation of vocabulary throughout the school years. FDK children were also significantly ahead in self-regulation as evidenced by their performance on the Head-Toes-Shoulders-Knees Task which measures attentional and inhibitory control and behavioural self-regulation. On other academic measures such as early reading, writing and number knowledge, the senior kindergarten FDK cohort children, but not the junior kindergarten cohort, have remained ahead of their half-day peers. all children appear to enjoy kindergarten regardless of program. FDK parents in comparison to half-day kindergarten parents rated their children higher on all eight indices, four showing significant differences between the groups: small muscle development, general knowledge, letter-sound knowledge and number knowledge. FDK not only helps children, but helps their parents as well by providing supports for full-day learning including helping in homeschool communication and reducing daily hassles. Since this research will continue until all children have finished Grade 2 and perhaps beyond, it is still too early to determine long-range effects in these other areas. New academic measures for older children will be employed this year in Year 4 and scores added to the database. Nevertheless, given the results on vocabulary and the strong performance in self-regulation it can be stated that children in FDK have benefited from their time in FDK. Do either of you have children? Can you relate to the stress of working parents having children in half day programs?
