Pat O'Brien Jumps the Liberal Ship
RightWinger replied to Newfie Canadian's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Wot NC said: If only Bev Dejarlais would follow suit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe this is a sign of things to come. Maybe the Liberals are falling apart over the same topic most of you say has little value. His constituents are probably quite happy as many other ridings would be if the MP's listened to their constituents and voted against gay marriage, but then again this is not a democracy. Good to see there are a few MP's left in the Liberal party with some morals. Hope to see more!! RW -
Hey Willy, never apoligize for me! If my ways have made you waiver in your support for the Conservatives, then you are weak. If you ever learn something from most of these lefties here, you are also weak in your political view and should probably vote Liberal! Instead of backing me up for my defense of right wing policies, you shudder and turn tail & run, it's quite pathetic really!

Tissue of sleaze in shreds
RightWinger replied to The Terrible Sweal's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
With the latest information, I would say that there is nothing to SHOW they have acted at all dishonourably. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, but if there were full colour video of Martin stuffing taxpayers money into Grewals pockets and promising him millions more you'd still shake your head and say it proves nothing. I don't think any amount of evidence of any kind of crime will ever convince you that the Liberals have done wrong. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL Argus, You hit the nail on the head there. Damn Grewal, set our Liberals Free! I don't believe the Liberals would ever do "anything" dishonourable. The have proved themselves time and time again! -
Advice for Gurmant and Stephen
RightWinger replied to The Terrible Sweal's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The only Christian Fundamentalist party that I know of is the Christian Heritage Party. I don't see anyone forcing religion down any one's throat. Last I heard we live in a democracy and all people have a right to a voice and a opinion. Or am I getting a sense here that some people think christians shouldn't have opinons or a vote? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Scrib, most of these wingnuts here have a left wing tendency, so no, Christians are not allowed a vote, opinion or voice in this forum! Now if you have ever leaned towards anything homosexual or support giving money to people who don't want to work(not because they are unable), then by all means you have a voice, opinion & vote on these forums. Otherwise, you are a rascist, bigot, right wing, fascist who will be mauled to death here! LOL RW -
Toews: 'Free Vote' on Same Sex Marriage
RightWinger replied to takeanumber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Wrong question: Should be: Should gov't of Canada use the notwithstanding clause to over turn the court judgements in 7 provinces and 2 terriories and take rights aways from law abiding Canadian citizens? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> AH... you must have been indoctrined in Laytonism...aka Socialist!! Hail Jack Layton! (stand at attention and raise right hand out in front of you) LOL -
Toews: 'Free Vote' on Same Sex Marriage
RightWinger replied to takeanumber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
One solution I haven't seen is to simply drop the federal same-sex marriage legislation (which may happen if it is not passed before an election). Because the other parties see it as a club to beat the Conservatives with. Unfortunately, the Conservatives have played right into their hands and ended up championing a issue which most people don't care about but simply reinforces the image of the CPC as a bunch of far right wing social conservatives. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lets agree to disagree on this one, because it seems we are pissing up a rope. I like the idea of making it Provincial and letting each province decide. That would settle down Alberta, because it would never be legal here. Unless these religious, bigot, right wing, klan members(As some would paint us!!) in Alberta had a sudden change of heart. I would like to use this new clear language referendum idea from Stephen Harper and let Canadians decide. Here is how the question should be posed: Do you think Canada's marriage laws should be changed to allow same sex couples to be married? Yes or No Simple and easy! If it gets more than 50% vote for Yes, then make it law!!! Also, if it passed and takeanumber & sweal are able to be wed(assuming they are both of the "male" persuasion), I promise here and now to be the ringbearer or an usher for this union and I will give it my blessing!!! If the No vote gets more than 50%, then takeanumber & sweal have to spend a week working oil rigs in Alberta!! Sounds like a plan to me!!! And if you two(TTS&takeanumber) can't find the humor in this, you need to lighten up!! RW -
Toews: 'Free Vote' on Same Sex Marriage
RightWinger replied to takeanumber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Who the heckare you to decide who's "truly Canadian" enough? I thought defining that was Molsons' job... Seriously though: this ain't cool. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them any less a citizen. Attack the argument on its own merits, don't attack the person holding the opiinion. Inclusiveness and diversity are Canadian values. Paradoxially, defining who is and who isn't Canadian is very unCanadian. And I'd hate to quibble, but Canadians don't have sole ownership of the secular humanist ideal of church and state separation. That's old school Elightenment shit. False dichotomy. "Render unto Ceaser etc etc." Why do you hate gays so much? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't hate gays! I say to each their own, but when our laws need to change to support a small minority of people, then I say it's wrong. Show me the stats that say gay people are in the majority. It is offensive to me that they feel the need to be married, they have the same rights now anyway. Why does Canada have to change the marriage law to uphold how many people? Not that many! It opens pandora's box. -
Agreed Melanie. And yes my wife & daughter are doing great! We did have one hell of a good doctor and support crew in the L&D. That doctor retired from his practice, which is too bad. It just saddens me to see how poorly something can run even after they win their arbitration. I have no faith in the current system. It was truly pityful while she was in the hospital, I literally did everything for her except give her meds and insert the IV's, which I wish I could have because the of newbie nurses they sent us to put in the IV's. It makes me sick.

Rich Canadians already have more health care than ordinary Canadians. The thing you people on the left seem incapable of understanding is that the public health care system is neither of any use nor an impediment to them getting instant treatment for any imagined illness. They always have, still do, and always will get better treatment here than ordinary Canadians. That is why the likes of Chretien, Martin - or Stronach, don't care if the public health care system rots away. They and their families and friends are all rich enough to not care. It's almost like there are masses of idiotic little people out there envious of the better lives the rich lead, and determined to somehow teach them a lesson by denying them better health care treatment. I can see them now, waiting ten hours in line to see a doctor, but grimly satisfied that however miserable the system is, it forces rich people have to wait the same ten hours. Except, of course, they don't. Never have. Never will. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Here here!! Argus, I highly doubt that Jack Layton has waited in line for healthcare either, even as strong an advocate he is for more! In fact, not too many politicians have to wait in line for healthcare. Our healthcare system is in the shitter for sure and although they all talk about it, none of them have to deal with it. Here in Alberta we have the highest paid nurses in Canada and we still have shitty service and long lines. I think that is why the two tier system was talked about. I know many will say it serves only the rich, but what it does it shortens the lines for everyone. I am not defending a two tier system, but our healthcare system needs revamping bigtime! As much money as Albertan hospital workers make, we still have very poor service and they want you to complain, because everytime you do, they get a raise. It is true corruption and will never get better unless something is done to our unions! My wife was hospitalized last year for what turned out to be a ruptured appendix while 3 months pregnant. For two weeks, I had to try to maintain a job and care for her in the hospital. She could not walk herself to the bathroom and not one nurse would lift a hand to help. I helped with everything and I definitely was not getting paid by the nurses union $40+ an hour!! I was so pissed off at the treatment that our tax dollars are supposed to provide and she was left to suffer. I have no respect for the nurses union after that experience and that is why I want a change in government or at least a change in our healthcare. I will operate on myself or go to the states for treatment, but these fucks in Canadian hospitals will never have to worry about me in their waiting line. Pure corruption!!! RW

Toews: 'Free Vote' on Same Sex Marriage
RightWinger replied to takeanumber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Beating minorities (Jews, Sikhs, homosexuals, women with unwanted fetus') with your minority religion (every religion in Canada is in the minority, since I believe that Catholic has fallen below 50%) is un-Canadian. Go ahead and deny it. Say that forcing religious based policies is Canadian, and is a Canadian value. Go for it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You'd rather have homsexuality rammed up your ass than religion down you throat is what I gather! Your choice, grab some lube then! RW -

RightWinger replied to takeanumber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I assumed no such thing and you have no proof that I did. Moreover RightWinger, based on what you've writen on these forums, you're not much of a Canadian yourself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am a Canadian, that would be happy to see "your kind" abolished, to be honest! Sadly, we can't do that kind of thing anymore, so we will just have to figure out how to live in the same country.(Hopefully under a Conservative gov't) I am certain that I will not be frequenting any gay bars in the near future, so that should accomplish keeping me & you seperate!! All the work here in Alberta should be deterent enough to keep you away. RW -

RightWinger replied to takeanumber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So, everybody, constitutes a minority???? That sentence is so full of contradictions I don't know where to start. Next question.... who made you the authority on what a "Canadian" is. I could not find it in the dictionary! A Canadian would be someone with citizenship in Canada seem to me! -

We sure do have public transit, and I lived on Bathurst & Finch for 2 years and the TTC was my only means of transport. We sure do enjoy paying for it out here though. And sponsoring any "gay pride" event is what we Albertans live for!! SMFD...LOL RW -

I think this warrants an apology. Or is rascism okay if you don't agree with someone's position? I would prefer as a general practice if we would avoid careless accusations of racism. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey Sweal he is telling Ramesh that he has no idea what it means to be Canadian!!! In other words, he is assuming by his name that he is not a Canadian. Or wants to assimilate him, I guess??? This awfuly sounds racist to me!!! This is a guy that will call all Conservative racists yet will use Ramesh as if he were an refugee and not a Canadian. Sounds like the double standard to me! RW -
Harper Condones Making Tapes
RightWinger replied to THELIBERAL's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Harper has 2 things he could do with Grewal, Boot him from the Conservatives or defend him. He chose to defend him, giving him the benefit of the doubt. Apparently he told Harper about the talks before the confidence vote. Nobody is proud of this in the Conservative party and I think Grewal realizes how bad it makes politicians look. I doubt that Harper put him up to it, but if he did, it shows very poor taste on his part. It also shows what the Liberals were willing to do to STAY in power. If Martin offered him anything, he should be charged and I think that both Grewal Dosanjh should step down until the matter is solved, if in fact Grewal deleted some of the tape to protect his true intentions of defecting. -

"People Of Toronto Got Their Money's Worth
RightWinger replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This speedy passage of this bill will cause a ruckus inside the Liberal party. I agree that we need to be done with this, but so many are going to be unhappy about it. I think this will boost the Conservatives chances of winning the next election. Call it a toss up, a loss on the marriage front, but a gain on the removal of the Liberals. RW -
Toews: 'Free Vote' on Same Sex Marriage
RightWinger replied to takeanumber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes that focus on the family is a corrupt organization! Damn them for promoting good family values! I think all our kids should run wild in the streets and there truly is no age too young to learn about sex, drugs and rock & roll!!! But seriously, I don't think that the religious right should dominate who we have representing us, because they do not speak for all of us. They should follow the rules the party has set forward and not the rules of the church. We all know how church rules have created more wars than anything else. I do believe that organizations like Focus on Family are good for some things, but they can't rule our country. In the same sentence we can't throw religion right out the window. There has to be a happy medium for everyone and I hope that the Conservatives will realize this and not let the hardcore religious groups dominate the party. In my riding we had a vote on the new Conservative member here between 2 guys, one a 50+ yr old tax lawyer, who served in the armed forces and a 26 yr old kid who was a worker at the constituent office with little to no experience in politics. Who do you think won the vote? The 26 yr old kid. He won by a huge margin. It makes me mad that this kind of thing can happen. The kid comes from an influential religious family and his church got the whole gang in and spent a bunch of cash on advertising. So basically, his church bought this vote. I think the whole congregation was there. Plus there was only 400 people voting. It is wrong! I voted for the minority...LOL RW -
Volpe Says He took No Part In Wooing MP
RightWinger replied to bigdude's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
In this post I can see the difference between Fiberals & NDP. NDP are asking for the RCMP to investigate & the Fiberals are saying how low & dishonest Grewal is for taping them. If Paul Martin was caught with a smoking gun, a dead hooker in front of him, a bag of coke in his pocket, in an hourly rate hotel, Fiberals would say, why did that damn hooker lure him there and kill herself! Charge her family for entrapment!! He was framed!!! Why are you Liberals so quick to lay blame on someone else, even if it is obvious they are to blame? It truly baffles me. NDP have enough integrity to ask for the proper authorities to investigate and wait to make judgement. Kudos to the NDP. (I can't believe I am complimenting them!) -
Lowest? But who bears the burden? For instance, a family with an annual income of $15,000 pays the same premiums as a family making $100,000. It's a regressive tax (ditto Alberta's vaunted "flat tax"). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually Blackdog, if a family makes lower than a set number(not sure what it is), they qualify for subsidies in the health care premiums. I am sure a family making $15,000/yr would hardly pay any premiums.

As much as this kills me, I have to agree with Brison. Hang on.... anyone know how to tie a noose? LOL Nice post Brison!

I know, first they celebrated black people with "the Jeffersons" and "Sanford and Son". What next? Muslims? By the way Argus, you're not a neocon if you don't like gays. Bigot, yes, neocon, no. In case anyone is wondering what the discussion is about here's the deal: On Global TV’s new six-episode reality series, My Fabulous Gay Wedding, sometimes there are two brides. Or two grooms. I think this quote from host Scott Thompson is bang on: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have the next big blockbuster reality show. My big fat sheep wedding. Where a man & his sheep can finally be wed. Why not, so much crazy shit going on these days. Lets play shock them all. Of course, there could always be.... My big fat sibling wedding! Throw your morals out the window, we have hit a new low on tv viewing! That is why I quit watching tv altogether, time to take it back to Amish beliefs!
-
Hey techno, it was meant as a joke. Maybe bastard wasn't a good word for them! I never meant to call homosexuals down. I never expected people to vote for it either. So go grag your ball gag and have at it with your life partner, I don't consider you to be a bastard, my apologies.
-
That last one is for all of you who think I am a bigot. This is a serious poll though, I am wondering how people on this forum truly feel about having a gay marriage broadcast to all Canadians.
-
What a howler that is. Except that it's not funny at all.Be careful what you read in Wikipedia (and elsewhere too for that matter). BTW, the French version of the same article is entirely different. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The French version of everything is entirely different. It is usually backwards and very self serving, as long as the gov't is willing to pay for it!
