Ya Tibet is a sad situation.

I think China looks at Tibet like a backward culture, that needs to get with the times.

A bit like the bias that Aboriginal people are lazy, and prone to substance abuse.

Susan Aklukark is a positive female role model.

I saw her perform in Saskatchewan several years ago.

Truth and Reconciliation Committee.

Let's discuss the sensitive topic of Aboriginal (Indian) relations in Canada and the history of the

Residential School System. More specifically, how healing and moving forward can help all those involved.

Atleo in China.

I turn on the tube and what do I see

A whole lotta people cryin’ ’don’t blame me’

They point their crooked little fingers ar everybody else

Spend all their time feelin’ sorry for themselves

Victim of this, victim of that

Your momma’s too thin; your daddy’s too fat

Get over it

Get over it

All this whinin’ and cryin’ and pitchin’ a fit

Get over it, get over it

You say you haven’t been the same since you had your little crash

But you might feel better if I gave you some cash

The more I think about it, old billy was right

Let’s kill all the lawyers, kill ’em tonight

You don’t want to work, you want to live like a king

But the big, bad world doesn’t owe you a thing

Get over it

Get over it

If you don’t want to play, then you might as well split

Get over it, get over it

It’s like going to confession every time I hear you speak

You’re makin’ the most of your losin’ streak

Some call it sick, but I call it weak

You drag it around like a ball and chain

You wallow in the guilt; you wallow in the pain

You wave it like a flag, you wear it like a crown

Got your mind in the gutter, bringin’ everybody down

Complain about the present and blame it on the past

I’d like to find your inner child and kick it’s little ass

Get over it

Get over it

All this bitchin’ and moanin’ and pitchin’ a fit

Get over it, get over it

Get over it

Get over it

It’s gotta stop sometime, so why don’t you quit

Get over it, get over it

Always admired the Eagles

Of course this song has nothing to do with Residential Schools and related matters, but is a sarcastic retort to someone who thinks themselves perfect and knows how to create a perfect world with themselves at the centre of it.

"old billy" is a reference to William Shakespeare, more specifically the line in Henry VI, Part II:

CADE

I thank you, good people: there shall be no money;

all shall eat and drink on my score; and I will

apparel them all in one livery, that they may agree

like brothers and worship me their lord.

DICK

The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers.

I always admired the Eagles too, because they had a knack for pinpointing the assholes in our society.

Good, then you'll agree with the song's sentiment that the world doesn't owe us a damn thing.

Ya that would be you, Argus.

Enough of your whining and just man up and deal.

Canada isn't what you thought ... B) Get over it.

I don't know. I consider myself an optimist. I am eagerly awaiting the day when you contribute something intelligent to a discussion here.

In fact, its Don Henley's demand that people stop whining about how they're such victims because of what happened long ago, and that they should just 'get over it'. I think that perfectly addresses the residential schools issue.

1996 was not so long ago.

In my experience, psychological scars takes a lot longer to heal than physical ones. Plus their children was brought up in that house where the mom or dad was abused, so they learn to live like that.

It takes a lot of strength for one individual to rise above it.

Do you feel the same way about Tibet?

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

When you agree that the sentiment is basically being lampooned. Or did you completely miss the reference to old Billy?

Come on Argus, only a complete babbling idiot would think like that. AS IF the affects of Residential Schools only "happened long ago."

Let's put it this way, if your spouse or child happens to get viciously raped, and even murdered, come on here and we'll tell you to stop whining because it's 'all in the past' and you should "get over it."

The residential schools were closed in the '60s, often against the will of local tribes.

The mistreatment of Tibetans is ongoing. It didn't end fifty years ago.

Many were, but the last one shut down in 1996 according to Canada's state run media giant, the CBC:

1996

The Gordon Residential School, the last federally run facility, closes in Saskatchewan.
