scribblet Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 I find it pretty hard to believe that in this day and age there are people who think women shouldn't have control of their own reproductive choices. We are talking birth control here, not abortion, although these people would have you believe the bill is equivalent to abortion. And oh, don't forget it's bad for the environment too... really, what a crock... http://www.cbcpnews.com/?q=node/2878 Pro-lifers prepare to protest birth control pill WASHINGTON DC, May 26, 2008—The American Life League (ALL) says that its preparations for a national day of protest against the birth control pill are gaining momentum. Pro-lifers are planning June 7 protests outside of facilities that distribute the pill because of its reported abortifacient effects.“We have been in contact with people all across the country who are excited and ready to protest,” said Marie Hahnenberg, Project Manager of Protest the Pill Day. “So far, we have heard from people in at least 10 states, including California, Texas, Wisconsin and North Carolina, that they will be participating in Protest the Pill Day. Even protesters in Canada are participating.” “Pro-lifers understand that life does in fact begin at fertilization and the birth control pill kills babies,” Hahnenberg said. She said there was so much “disinformation” about the pill that organizers decided a national protest was the best means to educate people. The American Life League, Pro-Life Wisconsin and Pharmacists for Life International are organizing the protests. Counter-protests are reportedly being prepared by abortion rights activists. Hahnenberg said the ALL welcomed counter-protesters since it will provide her organization the opportunity to educate them. “Women have been deceived for years and we must take a stand and do something about it,” she said. White Doors Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 agreed. this is retarded. Someone being against the pill is not against it for moral reasons, they can't be. Quote Those Dern Rednecks done outfoxed the left wing again.~blueblood~

(at least that's how I understand it, someone correct me if I am wrong). Now is this egg that doesn't "stick" a fertilized egg or just any egg? Maybe these people would be happy if we took away women's desire to have sex (ala fgm) that way they would be assured that no women ever have sex just for the fun of it and no woman would ever have control over her sexuality ever again. Every time a woman has her menstral cycle, she kills an egg. Seems the human body was meant to do this... hmmmm I wonder if fundie "scientists" are researching how to end this natural baby-killng menace... LOL Edited May 28, 2008 by Drea Quote ...jealous much? That's the issue; does it prevent conception or actually destroy a fertilized egg? But, whatever. Aren't there other aspects of abortion that take priority over this? In the eyes of the public argiung that the pill should be banned makes them look like a bunch of Neanderthals from the 1950s. Melanie_ Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 This doesn't make sense to me. Maybe they are protesting the Plan B pill, which prevents a fertilized egg from adhering to the uterus. The CBC article says "birth control pills", which I interpret to mean regular oral contraceptives. These just prevent ovulation, so no egg is released and therefore there is no possibility of conception. Either way, these protesters have no business telling others how to manage their reproduction. There has been a growing movement in some pro-life groups to ban birth control altogether. Some fundamental Christians who work as pharmacists have been saying their personal beliefs forbid them to fill birth control prescriptions. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_hb55...03/ai_n22142502 ORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas -- A CVS pharmacist refused to fill a woman's birth-control-pill prescription this week, the second time this year that a Metroplex-area druggist has withheld a prescribed contraceptive because of personal beliefs.
