You are just an angry petty person and it does not matter whether you served in the military or not, that does not make you an less of an angry person. I myself have not served other then reserves, but all through my family have served and many died during the wwII and Korea. some still have made the military their career. I do not know why, but it seems that nearly all of my family that served were in fighting roles, and because of my families German descent they were in need by the allies for translating, but also were going to be killed if aver captured. So you can, try to impress others with your I served and know everything attitude. Your type would never had survived the battle field back then as your attitude would have had your own side frag you just on principal. You and your mouth would have only served to do harm to the troops who would be doing most of the fighting to save your ass. But times have changed and so has the military. Now they would just dimiss you. You do not seem to know very much about the military and the way battlefronts work, so I will assume you were a stock boy or something the like. By your attitude here I would have to ask if you were a concious abjector. But that only happened with drafted people.

Anyway, you seem not to be able to understand that it is Nato that runs the show in Afghanistan, and Canada is there only due to its NATO committments. Canada does not have a glorious heritage of peace keeping, but rather on of the issues that once a shot was fired they hunkered down in their armoured vehicles and ran from that area, until the fighting was over. It was more UN observers then real peace keepers. See the 800,000 Rwandans that were butchered while our so called peacekeepers watched. That was a day I was ashamed to be Canadian. I am sure that you must have rejoiced, as you certainly think highly of peacekeepers. The Canadian forces are a combat trained enity and will always be so. It was only under the Liberals that the forces were turned into jittery babysitters. But even toward the end of the 90's, our armed forces could not even do peace keeping properly. At least now they can agaiin take pride in things. Maybe they will then be able to show you that your angry man syndrome is only because you feel useless or something. I hope you get professional help for yourself. It is available to all veterns and they really have great facilities for such things.

Perhaps you can show us all where in my posts do i belittle any of our servicemen. And if you have the time i\d like to know why you think the deaths of so many of my comrads are a waste.

The blue beret is a UN designation we wore for almost 30 years as we were always peace keepers first and foremost.

Yes the blue beret, please don't make it sound it was the head dress of the day, when in fact we wore it only while on UN operations, few and far between and depending on the unit on Nov 11. As for the myth of being peace keepers first and foremost, perhaps you can help with some math, add up all the personal that has ever gone a UN peacekeeping mission and then add up those numbers that have gone on NATO santioned operation, duty area tours and then tell me we were a peace keeping nation first and foremost...Try and keep it real.

And here i thought you were versed in the black art of death, RCHA the king of the battlefield, able to bring down death from above from 20 Km's away, while safe in the gun pits. Just a note did you know Canada's top shot with the C-7 rifle this year was won by an Airforce guy out of gagetown, wonder if he's first in the dark arts of death.

1st Royal Canadian Regt, CFB Petawawa.

In fact my uncle was the Regimental Sargent Major of Gagetown NB ,Chief Warrant Officer wild Bill Shavluk.
A lot got me drunk when i took a surveyor course there.

You meant M-109 did you not, that must of been awhile back if you were going to be one of the first on the 109's, what year was that ?

They both had thought it very important to do time in the military having lived through the Ukrainian Holocaust , that had cost my family every thing and everyone besides them and my grandfather who was a hero of the ukrainian freedom fighters.

I think the piont they were trying to make has gone over your head, As i have said before i've completed 2 tours in Afgan, both tours i believe that we are helping the Afgan people, and thier cause is a noble one, in which i believe in very much. One in which i and most Canadian soldiers take to heart, so much that we continue to volunteer for over and over, despite the risks. The same must of been felt by your uncle, who believed in his cause that he was willing to risk everything including his life for.

Perhaps your uncle wanted you to serve your nation, so that you could experiance this once in your life time. I've seen the misery this taliban scumbags inflict on the Afgan people, cutting off little girls hands for the crime of going to school , cutting off heads and placing them on pikes for Talking to NATO soldiers, being wrapped in barbed wire then dragged behind a truck, for not answering questions about NATO soldiers, the boy was a deaf mute... just some of the reasons why i'm going back for a 3 rd tour, not because i crave combat , or love war, but to assist the Afgan people in getting just a few of the same rights we take for granted everyday.

The cost of this conflict has been high for me and my comrads, and yet we still continue to volunteer for a mission we believe is not about oil, or power but helping a nation that needs it.. And to call thier lifes "WASTED" belittles them and the sacrifice they have made on Canada's behalf to the Afgan people.

Perhaps it is not thier lifes that were wasted but the years you spent serving this country, and coming away from all that service with your current beliefs and opinons you hold today...

Thats right your a reg force arty guy, king of the battle field, you are aware that the reserve force have played a vital part in most of our operations for some time now, I'd rather have some reserve Infanteer backing me up than some reg force bag of wind any day....sorry a regimental marksmen...

You think that just because you served in regular army that makes you better them some one like me. I am too old now to go serve in Afghanistan but I will put my markmanship against anything you still think you can do. I have trophies for target shooting over 1000 yards, and can still hit what I am aiming at near that distance now that I am in the mid fifties. You shoot your mouth off as if you are all knowing about what is going on in Afghanistan and then say you could win the war in a week and also the drug war as well? Only nukes could come close to achieving that and that would be scorched earth plan. Just how dumb do you think the people are on this board. I have seen your drunken blow hard types before, you think that by bullying people that give you respect? Well it will not come from me, to be exact I think your beyond contempt and should have the light of day finally come shine on you in your dark hiding places. Versed in death are you :lol: You sure have a lot to learn even from an ex-reservist like me. It seems to me that the reason you liked the blue beret so much was if a shot was fired you would run away. That is what happened during all but a few peacekeeping missions. It sounds to me that you liked that way of doing things. But I liken that to cowardism more then anything else. Yes politics do play a big part in how that was done, but cut and run peacekeeping definitely was not something Canada can be proud of, in my own view. But as you said that is what you liked most, and think we should still be doing that. Proud fighting soldier you say you are.

The Americans shout about only having 3000+ dead in Iraq but don't explain the new flack jacket that has kept the now 28,000 yes thousand troops who were blown up , missing arms or legless marines from making much impact.

Injured has to be included more with the media with out a doubt !!!

arms and legs cost us 40,000 - 90,000 each just as prosthetic devices and need replacing.

That would explain why your so bitter and twisted, Military life was not all you expected, must of sucked , being a man of your caliber, one whom wants it known "your the man" force to serve with ordinary Canadian citizens...and then forced to do what was asked of you, the Kingston pen, UN operations, train for a wpn that was late in coming...SGT Rock comic books never covered any of those topics...what a let done...Mean while kids of todays army have completed 3 and 4 tours of duty living the SGT Rock dream....and now your pissed...you need to get over it...I'm sure there are lots of todays kids that would have change places with you in a heart beat....

Yes military service does require a physical toll be payed, in the combat arms hearing, sight, knees and backs injuries are the norm...as for veterns affairs treating me differently you bet they're going to, todays soldiers are entilted to more and better benifits, but you already knew that did'nt you...there is serveral bills in front of parlment right now to correct this giving all vets the same coverage, again youy knew of this, heck your in office with the green party right... But right now yes we are treated differnently...

At yet the same soldiers that are making these sacrafices are not complaining, they are continuing to volunteer for more tours...something that you've missed in your "lets make them cry with the cas list and figures"....As for me feeling like shit, you have no idea what todays soldiers go thru, they've seen thier comrads die, they've seen the damage done to the enemy up close...they've held thier comrads broken bodies and watch them slip into death, making promises that we can't keep....No we are well aware of the pain that war causes. I just hope one day you'll see thier sacrafice the same way we all do..

Have you've asked any of them, some have been on national media, telling there story and you know what not a negative tale to be heard, a good example of that is that MCPL Medic who lost both legs during the blast that took the only Government MP life. He has picked up the pieces of his life, and is leading the way for others to follow, true leadership, true heroism, a true Canadian role model. Just some of the things he took with him after he left the service...

Vote for who ever you want !!! ,,,,,That's what my whole family has fought for !!!

Well let's see......given your profile says you are 50 years old and assuming you mean the M109 self propelled gun.....in order to be one of the first you would have to have been in the RCHA at the age of 11 in 1968.

....you couldn't have joine before 1976, so you couldn't have been anywhere near the front of the line with the m109s

This character is not worth arguing with. He has shown that he is a bitter and angry man for his own choices in life and he is not very pleased with his outcome I guess. As for his military knowledge goes.... well lets just say he may know what end of the rifle to point, but he obviously also learned to retreat much more then he ever learned to stand and fight. He seems to be desperately in need of the services of a good vetern hospital. The whole Idea of his pushing this stuff then talking about Green Party politics and his views are signs of his dilusion. I just chose not to spoil this for him, as his dilusional world seems to make him happier then the real world ever could.
