BornAlbertan Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 http://calsun.canoe.ca/News/Alberta/2007/0...492504-sun.html "The city ranked last in 2006 among major Canadian centres in the percentage of lone-parent families -- 14.3% among all families and 22.7% among those with children, according to Statistics Canada." Lone parent...among all families and families with children?! HUH?!?! To be a parent...don't you need children?! I found this funny though: A link titled "Calgary gets gayest city in Alberta title" in the same article about Calgary titled "Traditional family reigns here" If someone could explain to me wtf our brilliant Stats Can. is trying to say... Okay, Calgary has the lowest % of single parent families.....some families have children who moved away....nevertheless, they still have parents and the parents are still parents even though they don't have kids living with them. And Calgary is soooo gay they might rename it PalGary. I think it's the manly man attraction of a Stetson, chaps and a leather vest. If Scottsa is around I'm sure he can add to that. August1991 Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 More than 132,000 families in the Calgary region include a married couple with children, just shy of 45% of the 295,345 familial units in the area. Batas said he believes the father-mother model is still the best, though he won't pass judgment on other types of family units. Familial units? Family units? Are they composed of parental units and infantile units? Quote
geoffrey Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Are they composed of parental units and infantile units? Parental units is common slang in English Canada. Infantile units, maybe not. I do enjoy how journalists try to portray intelligence though. I really do. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
