Michael Bluth Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Why is it that when one disagrees with Harper we're accused by the right as being hateful? Much like how the U.S. repubs call their critics traitors. You guys can't seem to take any criticism. Time to get out of the sandbox. It has never been my intention to accuse somebody of being hateful simply for disagreeing with the Prime Minister. If you took it that way and were offended I apologize. I do take offence at being falsely accused of being a stalker and consider such behaviour hateful. There is a difference between disagreeing with Harper and attacking him on everything he does, purposely referring to him disrespectfully. I'm not saying you have done this, simply trying to show where the concerns come from. Why draw the analogy to U.S. Republicans? Believe it or not it isn't true that all Canadians support the Republicans. Quote No one has ever defeated the Liberals with a divided conservative family. - Hon. Jim Prentice
jazzer Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Why draw the analogy to U.S. Republicans?Believe it or not it isn't true that all Canadians support the Republicans. You have to admit that Harper does seem to follow Bush's handbook to some extent, i.e., control freak, unannounced trips to the troops, against kyoto, can't take criticism well, flag pin ever present in his lapel. to name a few. Personally I don't trust the guy, in much the same way I didn't trust Mulroney. To me he has proven to be a little too dishonest and shady (re the crap he pulled on election day:Emerson and Fortier). Guest coot Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Stocking is a criminial offence punishable with imprisonment....I might return to play your little reindeer game this afternoon but no guarantees. Do you mean you could go to jail for hanging up a stocking for Santa and his reindeer? Quote
Who's Doing What? Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Stocking is a criminial offence punishable with imprisonment. Uh oh. I used to work in a grocery store stocking shelves. I guess I am lucky they didn't arrest me and throw me in jail. Quote Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/election/bio/harper.html "You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society." Control freaks and lapel pins are pretty standard for heads of government in general. I believe every head of state who has visited Aghanistan has done so unannounced. Definitely more the rule than just for Harper and Bush. Seems like you are really reaching if those are the points of similarity. Do you mean you could go to jail for hanging up a stocking for Santa and his reindeer? I apologize if my typo offended you. Please don't complain to the moderator about it. capricorn Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 Uh Oh. How does one retract a complaint to the moderators? When I read "stocking" I did not think of Santa at all. My bad. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
