Topaz Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 After watch Parliament all week, showing less respect for each other and the government pulling some funny business in committee meetings, I waiting to see a a physical fight break out like we see from Korea or Japan!! Since Harper has said in the past , while on the opposite side of the aisle, telling the Libs, the GOVERNMENT set the tone, HE'S not going a very good job at that and at times he's the cause of it! Since we have troops fighting in a war, perhaps it would be better to have an election and to get a majority in or elected a minority who is easier to deal with! Quote
Michael Bluth Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 Would another minority really be that easy to deal with? The last minority didn't work very well either. The Canadian public doesn't want another election so that is the only reason why there shouldn't be one. It is up to the Government to take the summer and come up with a serious agenda for the next 2 1/2 years of their mandate. Not the simple five priorities but something substantive. Something that can guide their governance until the fall of 2009. If the opposition parties feel the agenda is questionable enough to force an election on so be it. Who's Doing What? Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 Parliament needs a swift kick in the pants. Line them all up on the front lawn.... Quote Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/election/bio/harper.html "You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society." (Stephen Harper, Report Newsmagazine, January 22, 2001)
Higgly Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 Parliament needs some sort of microphone arrangement wherein only the person recognized by the speaker is heard and the rest are only seen silently flapping their gums and waving their arms. Sort of like radio talk show hosts use. Would straighten things out pretty quick, I imagine. Quote "We have seen the enemy and he is us!". Pogo (Walt Kelly).
scribblet Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 They do need some kind of arrangement and clean up their act in question period anyway. Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province
