Is Canada going to have to face the fact that Harper may have to force people into the military to go over to Afghanistan?? I have notice our Canadian military seems to have an average age of the late 20's rather than 18-25yrs old that the US has. So .... what will Harper do?? He can't so anything right now with a minority govt and if the other parties agreed, there's still the election to come and I think ALL parties would suffer. I don't think the NDP would vote for it and perhaps the Bloc would be against it too. Dion has said that he wants to have the troops out by '09. I always wondered why the govt in a time of war, go to the prisons and say to the less dangerous prisoners, you go to the military, fight for your country and if and when you come back, you are pardon. I know the US has at least 5000 AWOL's and they have returning soldiers, to Iraq, committing suicide rather than go back. I wouldn't want to see this for our military.

Your ignorance of Canada's military history is nothing short of breathtaking.

Why would they face the fact when it's not a fact? Where in God's name is this coming from? Or is it just more fearmongering?

More fearmongering, there's no chance in ell there'll be a draft, not even a whisper of it. Its like the fearmongering in the U.S. about Bush re-instating the draft blah blah blah - when in fact, it is a Democrat trying to push it (Rangell)

Based on what...

I have notice our Canadian military seems to have an average age of the late 20's rather than 18-25yrs old that the US has.

When I was in BMQ I was one of the youngest at 18, and I think the oldest was in his late 30's. More people are starting to see the Military as a viable career option. I don't really see what your point is, and another thing to take into consideration is the age limits in the US Military.

.... what will Harper do??

Nothing....

He can't so anything right now with a minority govt and if the other parties agreed, there's still the election to come and I think ALL parties would suffer. I don't think the NDP would vote for it and perhaps the Bloc would be against it too. Dion has said that he wants to have the troops out by '09.

I garauntee you we won't see the draft coming into effect within the next 5 years.

I always wondered why the govt in a time of war, go to the prisons and say to the less dangerous prisoners, you go to the military, fight for your country and if and when you come back, you are pardon.

I don't believe we do that here, you're referring to the movie Buffalo Soldiers.

I know the US has at least 5000 AWOL's and they have returning soldiers, to Iraq, committing suicide rather than go back. I wouldn't want to see this for our military.

Thats the US Military, and Iraq is a very unpopular war right now. I haven't read any reports of Canadian soldiers seeking CO status.

BTW: Don't include that reservist as a "war resister," he wasn't resisting anything.

Yeah I also heard they plan to put these soldiers in the streets.

We need to get this out to the Canadian public ASAP. Lets start airing some commercials.

His ignorance of basic grammar is even worse.
