Your not mistaken by that analysis. It's not sustainable though, GM will eventually meet it's end. You can't run an operating loss for the better part of a decade.

Selling hardware at a loss in order to make money on services is a business model that works for Microsoft (XBOX) and Sony (Playstation) ;-)
