August1991 Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 If the stupidity of patrolling and enforcing Canada's sovereignty in the North is worth votes for Grits or Tories, it is damn well good enough for Americans. LOL!Good point. We (and the Americans) should worry far more about someone entering the continent. And they are unlikely to trek through several thousand kilometers of ice. Harper is not so stupid to believe that a few soldiers will protect North American territory against intrusion. To me, this Arctic story is a gift (exciting, free trip) to some DND types and a PR exercise for some anti-Americans types. If Harper were really serious about security, he'd sign an agreement with Bush Jnr. about who can arrive and stay in North America. Quote
Borg Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Far North Sovereignty? Well, we claim it but in fact we are doing no where near enough. As for international agreements - perhaps a mistake. Better to truly develop it - as it stands now we may be way too late. Give someone a toe hold and it is lost. We will lose this land and the resources if we do not act fast. Borg Quote

Borg Canada has already sold itself out years ago. To date, Canada has been unable to develop this land and as a result, has been only able to pander to the interest of our great Southern neighbour.
