on the record so far? Valerie Plame/Wilson was a covert agent - further, when her name was exposed a number of highly sensitive and extremely covert efforts by the CIA were IMMEDIATELY COMPROMISED -

The act of revealing her name, compromised several ongoing CIA covert efforts, endangered the lives of field operatives, endangered the lives of foreign diplomats who were aiding the CIA and worse than all the rest put this country in significantly greater danger of nuclear attack. Valerie Plame, the former CIA covert agent whose outing led to the conviction of a top Bush administration official, told U.S. Congress on Friday she believes her identity was disclosed for "purely political reasons."

Plame's testimony before a House of Representatives committee was her first public comment on the release of her identity.

She said that she always knew information about her work as a spy could be discovered by foreign governments, but said she was surprised to be identified by her own country's administration.
