well, I do know exactly what you're doing --- you're trapped in an untennable position and you are trying to cute your way out with a line of bullroar and a smiley

sorry, your pigs don't fly - not in American air space

OK...we'll do it the hard way. The link you provided for Uncle Sam traveling the world over to rescue poor defenseless Americans included a reference to Granada:

1983 -- Grenada. On October 25, 1983, President Reagan reported a landing on Grenada by Marines and Army airborne troops to protect lives and assist in the restoration of law and order and at the request of five members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States.

Nobody in their right mind believed the BS story about medical students facing imminent death or torture. And the deed was done....sorry Fidel...you lose.

Now, getting back to Arar, why didn't Canada "rescue" him from his awful Canuck fate?

Grenada was certainly, a Reagan photo op - as was most of his presidency - that is one event, doesn't have anything to do with the list other than being there on it -- further, it was still in that early part of the tearing down (and selling off) of America

Canada??? well, I'm an American and I don't presume to tell Canada how to handle it's affairs. I do note that Canada has apologized for it's failures in the matter and it looks like Arar will be getting a settlement check:

...

Arar and his family are seeking compensation from the federal government ... Judge Dennis O'Connor, who conducted the inquiry into the matter, recommended in his report dated Sept. 18, 2006 that Ottawa pay up.

Good...I love a happy ending. Now maybe he will shut up.

Don't they have freedom of speech in Canada???

you want him to shut up ... why? you don't like his story? you don't want to know about the Bush administrations crimes against humanity? why would someone like him need to shut up more than some really loud and offensive speaker like Rush Limbo

They don't allow hate speech...and I don't have time for whiners!

Crimes against humanity? Chortle...chortle....chortle.....

torturing people to death, burniing civilians alive with phosphorus, raping little boys ...

maybe it's funny to you --- it is not, in fact, funny

and what, 'hate speech,' has Arar offered? I certainly haven't seen or heard any.

Is Arar dead too...amazing! Hell, the Catholic church did that for years...if it's good enough for "God", it is good enough for George W. Bush.

telling the truth, even if it is hateful to hear, is not hate speech

... back to the main topic... with the exception of Rick Santorum, it was mostly moderate Republicans who lost their seats in the '06 elections, so it stands to reason that, in theory, the GOP of '07 is more ideologically conservative than was the GOP of '05.

However, I do take comfort from the fact that, in practice, the GOP of '07 is piling on WRT to Bush's abuses. It doesn't exhonorate their complicity in totally screwing up the US, but i find it interesting that it took losing an election to both convert many of those pro-war Republicans to becoming skeptics of Bush and regrowing a spine in the face of executive overreach. Suddenly warrantless wiretapping is a problem. Suddenly global warming exists.

Suddenly global warming exists.

Funny how the GOP loss, changed the tone here, finally global warming exists here too, after a year of it not! :D

Well of course global warming exists, its only idiots that deny it. But are we speeding it up with our life style, that is the argument isn't it. We want the best of both worlds and can we have it. Well it appears at the cost of our childrens welfare we can.

No, it never was. Founded by slave owners, it is a united corporation of states, without a real name at all. Discrimination, incarceration, civil war, capital punishment, "genocide", more war, internments, abortions, etc., etc., etc.

"Human Rights....not anymore? Are you serious? Or maybe you find American history to be boring.

And America was the first and only country in the world to reach out with post war assistance to both allied and enemy countries.

and every American who ever mattered, believed America destined to be a beacon of Liberty, Democracy and Humanity, throughout the world ---

a much better attitude, IMO, than, 'well we've done it before, might as well act like Nazi Germany again'

Nonsense....if you really are seeking "truth", start by disabusing yourself with that "beacon" propaganda. I am sure that transported Africans praised their destiny of Liberty, Democracy, and Humanity. While the Nazis stomped Europe, America interned Japanese and Americans in camps.

America is a beacon for economics (business) and opportunity...anything else is just gravy.
