Of course we should. If a suspect is black (for example), it's easier for the law enforcement people to pick him out.

In descriptions of suspects and stuff like that they always include race. Fantastic example of how well it works.

Some groups are significantly higher risk. If one was Jamacian, their group is a significantly higher threat to Canadian safety than a Swede statistically. I haven't heard of an outbreak of Swedish gangs besides at Ikea.

This thread is nonsense. If the police have a report that a white caucasian male held up a liquor store, are they supposed to stop and question oriental women to ensure fairness and equity?

For historical reasons, the US has a large race problem. English Canadians tend to view racial problems using an American perspective. That's unfortunate.

Of the September 11 terrorists, a few were mistaken for Caucasian, mainly Greek or Italian in descent.

If you think Canada doesn't have racial problems because you've been spoonfed that by Liberals over the past 30 years, you're living in a dreamworld.

Take a look at the relationship between First Nations people and the rest of Canada and tell me there are not serious racial issues in this country.

Canada's biggest racial issue - indeed it's central to our history - is the divide between English and French. We have dealt with this issue in a manner very different from how Americans have gone about dealing with their racial issues.

But you have no way of assessing religious affiliation through racial profiling, do you? You can tell if someone is Muslim or not?

That isn't profilling. Profilling is when you stop blacks becasue they are black and a statistician told you they may have committed a crime....you don't know for sure if they have committed a crime...but they are black so they might have....

It's obvious to me that when our side can't tell the difference between perfectly fine civilians and combatants, then we MUST screen all who look like that to be sure. I have no problem with that.

Any darkish person with a middle eastern accent should be screened before I'd feel comfortable to get on an airplane with them. Do you honestly think they'd give this any debate if the shoe was on the other foot? Not.

Not only that, Canada should decline entrance to anybody from the middle east until all this terrist crap blows over. Keep it over there. Our country acts like pussies when it comes to this stuff. It's hard hard stuff, but we need to protect ourselves.
