Your insistence on trying to pick fights with me is bothersome.

You called me *obnoxious* and said I had a *yellow streak* on post 30 of this thread.

I'm sorry if you are offended by my opinion.

After admittedly badgering me for a day you sent me this PM on November 5th at 3:30 PM.

Never admitted badgering you for a day. I responded to several of your posts in a style calculated to bring you to realize how abusive you had previously been.

So when I use question a posters motivations and lack of support for their assertions I am trying to start a fight but when you attack me personally you are just giving your opinion?

How does that double-standard work?

I'm sorry, I can't parse your first sentence with sufficient confidence to be sure of responding to you accurately. I want to be accurate with you, to spare your feelings as much as possible when I answer your self-involved interrogations.

Well, actually, I said you 'could show' a yellow streak. And I never said anything about arrogant. If you want to retain your credibility, you should keep your accusations in some line with reality.

Hey jbg, glad to have read your bio. Makes it perhaps a bit easier to see where you might be coming from in a discussion. Glad to see you have a good grasp on Canada, and by my viewpoint you certainly seem qualified. Dont worry about the griping about Yanks talking in a Canuck forum. The internet knows no boundaries. Besides, it wouldn't stop me from hashing out a discussion on American politics...I can assure you.

I like reading your posts, seems diff somehow.

But one thing shocked me...there are jewish lawyers in New York? Who knew .. ;) All the best!

Funny JGB, JBG my finding an American (or Brit or Spanish or Danish or any other nationality for that matter) at a domestic Canadian political convention would only be considered anti-American by someone who is grasping at straws.

As for the who are you, where did you come from, it was purely rhetorical. Don't care, don't care, don't care. But it is strange and as you co-opt Canadian political forums for discussion of ANOTHER COUNTRY (more anti-Americanism?) it is appropriate to comment on it. I'm sure you could find the correct place if you try.

By the way, I have a great sense of humOUr. That's a spelling mistake by whose standards? When in Rome............

Do you have something about your country you wish to hide?

JBG is an awesome guy! And a Montreal Canadiens fan too. :) You can't top that.

Actually, I'm a Rangers' fan. But I don't boo "Oh Canada". Nor do I yell "death to Canada" to 11 year old Canadian players (as the Montreal audience did to a tearful group of 11 year old kids).

There are a few people from other countries who peruse the forum here. Since there is a U.S. politics and a world affairs section, I'd expect to see a few nationalities.

I don't agree with jbg on several issues and we've got into it a few times but I appreciate his insights.

I'll be the first to say that sometimes decorum breaks down and people get angry but it is probably unnecessary in this case. Disagree with what a person is saying but not their right to say it.

I'd appreciate more American and international posters here. Most would probably get bored after a while but a few would probably actually contribute to the knowledge base around here. And just perhaps they would take some of that knowledge of Canada back with them.

You people miss the whole point ( do you do that on purpose?). Fine to have non-Canadians post here, the more the merrier. I don't think it's fine to co-opt topics in the Canadian politics/Federal section to post about the USA (or any other country) unless it's pertinent to the topic, which in many cases it has not been. THAT'S the point.

I would complain on the offending thread. Your post, a personal attack on me, has nothing to do with the "Liberals Hidden Agenda" or "Federal Politics".

You call that a personal attack? Better re-read boyo. I called you on co-opting threads that had nothing to do with Canada/US or just USA to talk about the US. I was just on the Canada/US thread and that's where you should be talking about the US. Not under "Liberals Hidden Agenda" which actually has nothing to do with Harry Truman nor Canadian (mis)spelling, which was totally inappropriate since you are on a Canadian forum, and of course we use Canadian spelling.

And I still find it strange that someone of a different nationality not even living in this country would attend a Canadian political convention.

You do not call me "boyo". Do you understand?

By mentioning Truman, I was attempting to explain that I do take liberal positions. If your idea of liberalism is to pay money to politically connected advertising agencies for doing nothing, so be it.

And I still find it strange that someone of a different nationality not even living in this country would attend a Canadian political convention.
I find your obsession with the idea strange.

Many of these threads drift from time to time. It's fair to point it out, not so far to call someone boyo or the like.

In any event, if you don't like what a poster has to say, put them on ignore.

Not an obsession at all, I have never heard of it before. It's not as though it has been explained why you would even want to. And if you don't want to explain it, DUDE, why even bring it up?

Explained and repeated below, in case you didn't bother reading the first time or were unable to.

jbg, who are you and where did you come from? You seem to bring up the USA in your posts under Canadian Politics-not where they belong.

Quick bio:

  1. I am a liberal Democrat;
  2. I am a Jewish bankruptcy lawyer from the NYC area;
  3. Born NYC 1957;
  4. Moved to suburbs 40 Trudeau Units away 1964;
  5. Visited Quintes Isle and 1000 Islands summer 1972;
  6. Spent weekend in Toronto April 1973;
  7. Visited Montreal right after 1976 election;
  8. Visited Montreal to clean up from disastrous 1977 Adirondak hike;
  9. Attended university in upstate New York 1975-9;
  10. Visited Quebec City June 1979 with close friend taking French immersion, who hailed from my home town;
  11. Attended law school in Massachusetts 1979-82;
  12. Admitted to NYS bar 1983;
  13. Moved back to NYC from suburbs 1986;
  14. Visited Quebec City with girlfriend September 1986;
  15. Married in 1991;
  16. Moved to suburbs 44 Trudeau Units from NYC 1992;
  17. Visited Banff and Calgary December 1992;
  18. Had children in 1996 and 1997;
  19. Visited Toronto June 1997;
  20. Attended CPC convention in 2005;
  21. Joined MapleLeafWeb (link) May 2006; and
  22. read your bigoted post December 21, 2006, which showed the height of darkness along with winter solstice.

*snip*

And FYI, my interest in the CPC is related to my strong view that major Anglopshere countries, particularly in North America, should be multiparty democracies, not Trudeau/Chretien benevolent (barely) dictatorships.

Wow. he even repeats the worlds the CBC wants him to say.

The CBC wants you to agree with their poltiical views and program their agenda accordinly in order to brainwash you. You have fallen for it.

Let me get my harry potter book to see if there's a spell to rid you of the CBC brainwashing your under.

Well said.

I get the point how one year of Conservative minority Government represents a dictatorship but 13 years of Liberal majorities aren't...

Gotta love how the lefties view it as an aberration of democracy if they don't get to call the shots all the time.

My buddy said it best. The problem with the CBC all goes to the staff. They were the kids who won the important student union elections and forced their agenda on all the rest of the students. While wasting time performing their important elected duties they watched as the real future leaders took part in the Young Libs, Young Conservatives, Young Dippers yada yada yada.

The only places that would hire these *future leaders* were places like the CBC. So the mindset perpetuated itself and instead of pushing their agenda on disengaged students and wasting thousands of student fee dollars they force their agenda on disengaged Canadians while wasting billions of taxpayer dollars.

Back to the topic of the Liberals' Hidden Agenda...turning Canada into Holland:

"Angus Reid Global Monitor : Polls & Research

Dutch Would Consider New Election

January 6, 2007

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in the Netherlands would be willing to head to the voting booths again if three parties cannot form the government, according to a poll by Maurice de Hond. 52 per cent of respondents think a new election should take place if talks between the Christian-Democratic Appeal (CDA), the Labour Party (PvdA) and the Christian Union (CG) break down.

Dutch voters renewed the Second Chamber in November 2006. The governing CDA of minister president Jan Peter Balkenende secured 41 of the 150 seats at stake, but there has been no final agreement to form a coalition government. With the support of the PvdA, led by Wouter Bos, and the CG, led by Andre Rouvouet, the coalition would have the support of 80 lawmakers.

One of the main sticking points for the participation of the CG in the new administration is the stance of the CDA and the PvdA on same-sex marriage, which is legal in the Netherlands. Fifteen of the conservative party’s regional chairmen have urged Rouvouet to pull out of the negotiations unless this topic is discussed."

Seems that one Dutch party, the Christian Union, won't be happy unless the issue of same-sex marriage is re-opened. Sounds like those windmill-dwellers are following Stephen Harper's previous agenda.

Real leaders are made in the backrooms, not in university student associations.

This appeared in the second link you provided:

Assuming this comment accurately reflects what is happening in Holland, those Muslim immigrants might feel more comfortable in Stephen Harper's Canada. :(
