M.Dancer Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Some pull quotes...... The number of violent deaths for July and August reached a total of 6,600 - 13% higher than the figure for the previous two-month figure This figure..is for Baghdad only..... Some 147,000 soldiers may seem a large number, and it is more than the US Department of Defense had been hoping to deploy in Iraq by now. But the overwhelming majority of them are not out on the streets, stopping the bombings and kidnappings and murders. The total number of fighting soldiers in the American force is probably about 18,000 - quite a small number, given the area they have to cover and the size of the problem. If that is truly the case, the meat grinder must be truly tragic.......to have 70 or so killed every month...out of 18,000...add another 500 wounded The US Department of Defense has now provided another measure of the problem it faces. Its latest opinion poll carried out in Iraq indicates that, among the five million Sunni Muslims there, about 75% now support the armed insurgency against the coalition. In another thread we are asked what is so bad about Iraq. I know the answer...... .............losing http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/5371394.stm Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
JerrySeinfeld Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 I agree with part of your analysis - we need more troops!!! Quote
M.Dancer Posted October 3, 2006 Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 It's not my analysis...... ....While I agree the mess created by the US is catastrophic and more troops are needed to staunch the flow.....it may be too late to actually have a winning effect. That and the US leadership are too bone stupid and vainglorious to admit they screwed up to begin with. The ramifications of the US loss are legion, starting with real threats like Korea and Iran. No one like to follow a loser into battle. Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
Riverwind Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 I agree with part of your analysis - we need more troops!!!I believe Canadian citizens are eligible to enlist:http://www.goarmy.com/contact/how_to_join.jsp?hmref=cs I am looking forward to your first hand reports from Bagdad. JerrySeinfeld Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 At one point in last night's football game, green bay was actually leading and the hometown Philly fans were nervous. Are you a Philly fan? Quote
Chrissy1979 Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 You're making even less sense than usual. Quote
