betsy Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 I was looking for a board catering to this particular subject...and can't find one. Or a Miscellaneous spot for any topic that do not seem to belong to any other existing places? It can be the place to go to for those not heavily into politics. The "light" side of Mapleleaf Forum. It will help increase traffic....and who knows, manage to get some adding their few cents to some political issues. Quote

I think the membership this forum has now is ideal, I know the idelogy of most of the more common posters and it makes debating and interacting more enjoyable. I'd hate for MLW to become a random assortment of random posters just spouting off on every topic. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
gc1765 Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 One forum for "off-topic" is not a bad idea in my opinion. Anything that doesn't really fit in the other categories. Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")
Higgly Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 I support the idea of a miscellaneous forum too. I think I saw someone refer to it as a 'Coffee Shop', which sort of describes the concept well. I'd be in favour of a consumer forum but I think the chances for legal action, libel, what have you, would make it labour intensive to moderate and risky. I also agree it would be a good idea to bring in more posters. The problem with a small number of posters is that the issues can get pretty stale. You can get these situations where people start holding grudges and getting into battles that are really more about previous battles than the current battle. Too much like a small town.
