GostHacked Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 It will be a matter of time before this comes to the cities in Canada and the US. I am going to guess it will hit Canada first for some odd reason. Give ittime, or better yet, tell your 'leader's' in government to stuff it. Then that poses the question, are you truly free? How does it feel to have someone watching your every move. Big Brother is not only watching you - now he's barking orders too. Britain's first 'talking' CCTV cameras have arrived, publicly berating bad behaviour and shaming offenders into acting more responsibly. Quote
Charles Anthony Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Then that poses the question, are you truly free?Of course not but we do not need advanced technology to tell us that. Would we respond differently if there was a live police officer 24hours a day standing on every corner instead of a talking camera? ? If you are not looking to get rid of the police force, then look on the bright side: the cameras are cheaper. If the streets were privately owned, they would probably be secured in the same way, anyway. Quote We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Higgly Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I love it. Next thing you know they'll have a troop of nannies standing around waiting to spank offenders with a big cricket paddle. I'm not sure the Brits have much of a choice, though - terrorists (IRA/Moslem extremists), soccer hooligans, race riots, skin heads. They've really got it all. At least they seem to have finally put the IRA to rest. I don't know who your ISP is, but if you get your internet access through Rogers, there has now been a new wrinkle added to the multi-paged document you are forced to agree to when you start using their service. You basically agree to having everything you transmit over the internet monitored by the government. Big brother is reading your mail, and he no longer needs a court order. It may be cheaper, but I would prefer the police to get off their fat donut eating asses and get some exercise and do some real police work, like walking the beat! I recall a day when the cops were friendly and helpful. Now they all seem like paramilitary stormtroopers. Quote

Charles Anthony Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Where the hell do you live? Stormtroppers? Are you on the wrong side of the law or something, police tend to be pretty friendly and responsive in these parts...I actually think our patrolling officers look like storm-troopers too, but I actually expect them that to be that way. Billy-clubs just do not cut it anymore. However, the "fat donut eating asses" is a little out of touch with reality. Being a member of the police force is physical fitness at its finest. As much as I do not respect state-monopoly in the security business, I would not use such hyperbole. Nevertheless, I really do not understand why people do not demand more police. We throw money in the garbage (I mean, into the pockets of government cronies) all of the time but we expect our safety to be assured for practically nothing. Personally, if I ruled Canada, I would have a hell of a lot more armed officers patrolling the streets and a hell of a lot less pencil-pushing-silly-servants on the payroll. During the last election, when the Liberals (or Conservatives, I can not remember exactly who is allowed to make things up) made campaign promises of more soldiers with guns in the streets marching to a battle drum beat, I thought: finally, our military will be defending their country! Perhaps before shooting off your mouth you should contact your local police department and ask them to take you out for a ride. The local police here are pretty good about sending interested civilians out with a patrol officer for a 12+ hour shift. Try for a Friday or Saturday night. You might learn something.
