Your government debt is well above 100% of your GDP. 1a. You borrow faster than you earn. 2. Canada has a debt to GDP ratio well below 100. ==== I want a pre-nup. 1 Quote

In exchange, we’ll convert your currency into USD and no more tariff and lower taxes. Along with all the American infrastructure investment that would pour into Canada. John Stone Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 It has been argued that if a referendum was put to the Americans to join Canada, the lower 48 would form the majority in favor. There is no question that U.S. citizens are envious of the Canuck nation - health care, maternity leave, no racial riots, no facade of a government for the people, no fascism, no Trump, no ginormous inner city slums, maple syrup, real beer, Tim Horton's, lower cost of living, uber quality of life, better social programs ................ to name a few. Supposedly what really pi$$es off Canucks abroad is U.S. citizens displaying the Maple Leaf and having zero knowledge re; the country, that said, Americans generally demonstrate complete ignorance of American history as well. 🤣 Quote

John Stone Posted May 14 Report Posted May 14 haha ............we're all fallible and usually slip too far over one edge or the other - all hate and judgement or all giggles and chuckles? That said, I'm sure you can see the political threat those Kanucks pose? It is always and always will be a comparison. Kanada is definitely a political threat - it is where the Left gets all their ideas. 😄 Quote

John Stone Posted May 14 Report Posted May 14 (edited) giggle n chuckles? Let's say Kanada was annexed by the U.S. Internationally what would be the impact. .......... in a oblique sense it was this type of maneuver that was the squib that started WWI Holy fk, Batman, we're not talking Taiwan or Ukraine We're talking a geo-political move that could have strategic implications for the entire World - particularly the 'bad' world. The U.S. would definitely be isolated, vilified ............more than it is now? Naw, any imperialistic move by the United(???) States to take Kanada, Greenland, Cuba, Panama, Venezuela, Columbia, Iceland or Kanada's territories has to be economic. Edited May 14 by John Stone Quote

Indeed .......... a shooting war is a possibility ............ concerning .......... but not as concerning as having 'bone spurs' i/c of strategy and his clown car cabinet afraid to talk truth-to-incompetent-power. disastrous! It belongs to America. The first island chain is part of America’s defensive strategy in the pacific. Japan knows this and it too serves as a defensive bulwark against Chinese expansion. The country China needs to worry about isn’t America, we actually want to keep the peace. It’s Japan. This is why Japan is re-militarizing. See their latesest Izumo class carrier. China has enough conventional munition to turn Taiwan into the surface of the moon but it doesn’t have the capacity to take Taiwan and hold it against American naval supremacy. America still possesses the power to blockade not just China but the entire south East Asian theater into the Indian Ocean see IRIS Dena sinking in Indian waters. Edited May 14 by paxamericana Quote

Keeping the peace / status quo is best for China. That’s America message. Xi knows the consequences for attempting a Taiwan incursion should the US intervene. He wants, hopes the US does not. From the intelligence community perspective the probability is low but it’s not zero. That’s why we still make ready for a Taiwan scenario in our war gaming. An amphibious assault is the most difficult type of operation militarily speaking. Really only one country has mastered it in modern warfare, that’s America. Also Taiwan is a fortress it does not have many natural landing beaches for heavy equipment and they’ve been preparing n for 50 years. Edited May 15 by paxamericana Quote

Trump's rhetoric and his actions re: Ukraine, allies, NATO have def emboldened China. Strategically, the Malacca Str is crucial to China - chokepoint? If Trump wants to send a clear signal it would likely be by deploying USN there - we'll see. Ditto arms sales for Taiwan. The world def does not want (2) nuclear powers confronting each other - and of course mix in NK. Trump is without a doubt not the man to be dealing with this situation - but then, he's 80 years old.
