I haven't seen anyone mention what's going on in Ireland right now.

What started as fuel tax protests has erupted into much more.

It's now grievances on taxation, immigration, cost of living, the general failure of the government to care about the people.

Been going on about 8 days now.

I've only seen one vague article on CBC from 2 days ago.

But this morning, there was a No Confidence vote in parliament and the government held on, but just barely.  One MP quit and encouraged others to do so also, due to their massive failings in governing.

Honestly, this sounds a lot like Canada.

If it was just about fuel taxes, why are the people shouting to "Sink the boats!"

Exactly like the Freedom Convoy

All you Liberal supporters here better hope like hell that the other half of this country doesn't rise up against the Liberals.  Because it sounds like what's been going on in Ireland is what's been going on here.

And you've chosen your side.  Very clearly.

And now it's spread to Scotland.

The Irish Gov. (centrist) survived a confidence vote.

Arguably, Ireland had more global influence during the cold war and the 'troubles'.

The confidence vote demonstrated that those in the wings, Sein Fein - has no hope  of forming a coalition.

I do support a united Ireland ..... but Sein Fein is likely too far Left - a cheque Ireland could not afford to cash.

You should go back and look at the 'Celtic Tiger' economy and how and why that crashed. Nothing like Canada.

There's going to be a big right wing backlash in Canada - after 50 years of doing nothing except grumble and moan that commies are taking over?

That'll be the day.

I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical,
a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
