SamStranger Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Prime Minister Harper is 45, that seems like the perfect age for a politician. Too old means stuborn, too young means stupid. However, John Tory (ontario PC Party Leader) is aparently in his later 50's (???) So... the question is... Old or Young? Quote "They say that lifes a carousel, spinning fast you got to ride it well. The world is full of Kings and Queens who blind your eyes then steal your dreams- it's heaven and hell. And they will tell you black is really white, the moon is just the sun at night, and when you walk in golden halls you get to keep the gold that falls- its heaven and hell" -Ronnie James Dio

It should never be about age but who can do a good job for the country, whether they are competent or are they hired, appointed or promoted because they belong to some old boys network - politics is a male dominated environment The statistics have shown that in politics the older you are the higher the rank so a bit tricky for younger people to reach new heights Quote
August1991 Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Alexander the Great died in his early thirties, after being a very successful leader. Winston Churchill lead England against the Nazis when he was in his mid-sixties. Mitterand and Reagan were both elected leaders in their seventies. William Pitt was in his early twenties when he became PM in England. You simply can't generalize about this except I'll concur with RB that all of the above were men. (Why is this thread in the Federal category?) Quote
Biblio Bibuli Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Old or Young? "As I approve of a youth that has something of the old man in him, so I am no less pleased with an old man that has something of the youth. He that follows this rule may be old in body, but can never be so in mind." - Marcus Tullius Cicero Quote When a true Genius appears in the World, you may know him by this Sign, that the Dunces are all in confederacy against him. - Jonathan Swift GO IGGY GO!
