Trump's best Foghorn Leghorn routine in regards to Canada and Greenland is worn out shtick. ............ don't forget TACO's suggestion(?) that the U.S. recover Panama (Canal)? I wouldn't completely disregard this as rhetoric - both are very strategic to Asia - Europe shipping. Canada's concern is the NWP and sovereignty over and under it...... likely the Brits have a claim as well. Quote
cannuck Posted December 3, 2025 Report Posted December 3, 2025 I live in Canada but most of my business interests are in USA (NYC, Joisey and WY). To say that Canadians are like Americans is somewhat true overall but radically different in the extremes. In my experience: rural Americans are very much like rural Canadians in the regions directly South along the 49th. Similar for a$$hole factories...uh...sorry....CITIES. What Canada doesn't have is a parallel community South of the Mason=Dixon or so. Try to think of us busy doing the French/Limey thing instead of slavery. The other big difference is the US economy was hijacked by the multi-national world of finance turning the capitalistic economy that generated the wealth of what was formerly the largest economy the world had ever seen into a wildly inflated mess too big to fail where those who manipulate speculative gain now are running the show. What is different here is we are just being dragged passively into that craphole but we have this phenomenal reserve or natural resources we can pretend we are still actually doing business to survive. The inflation to fill the jeans of the newly minted Wall Street trillionaires has resulted in the government(s) going $40 TRILLION into debt - which would be fine if the US hadn't traded it's wealth creating ability for a fast buck selling Chinese consumer and industrial goods - a position from which with the extra burden of the LLL (Legal Liability Lottery), a dissfunctional sick care system, a complete lack of health care (ceded to Wall Street's big Pharma) and on it goes. You see, the US will sink in it's screwups but Canada will drag itself back from the edge by continuing to sell off resources. Quote
