ICE agents continued arresting immigrants after routine immigration court proceedings in another Lower Manhattan courthouse Thursday.

THE CITY witnessed seven arrests throughout the morning Thursday, which followed another seven arrests yesterday at an immigration courthouse across the street at 26 Federal Plaza.

The Trump administration has said the arrests are part of a new nationwide push to speedily deport people who entered the country less than two years ago, outside of a typical immigration court proceeding, through a process called “expedited removal.”

Trump is offering illegal aliens $1k to self-deport. They should take the offer rather than go through that drama.

Democrats are crying, seeing all the voters they recruited deported. Im sure they'll end up with absentee ballots, though.

There is at least one activist court the Dems will get to rule against it.

The big thing Rs need to do right now is change laws that courts rule on.

But it all has to be worded very carefully.

We can't allow some piece of shit lower judge to build and execute cases.

It is patently insane and undermines the entire democratic process to have the weirdo ad hoc mishmash of election law for federal elections that we see in the states.

It's a federal election, it should be federally regulated and everybody should play by the same Playbook and one of the basic tenants should be that people need to prove that they are eligible to vote in order to vote.

And honestly I just don't see how voting machines are making things any better. Canada uses paper ballots and we know our returns the night of in most cases with maybe a couple ridings up in the air sometimes, and our judicial recounts are definitive and very hard to cheat.  The us uses these machines and it takes days sometimes to call it and it's always a huge fight.

A democratic society that actually believes in its democracy cannot survive without the public having faith in the electoral process and I cannot see how any sane person would look at the American model and think that it is worthy of trust or can be considered secure.

On the flip side we had something like two dozen ridings in Canada where it was only 100 votes apart and yet not a single person is suggesting that the election was stolen. Once in a blue moon you might get some weird circumstance where people question things for a moment but at the end of the day it's very easy to accept the final outcome because our systems are hard to cheat and you can look at the actual piece of paper and see what people marked

There's too much dishonesty here to have it that way. Now we need an army of lawyers in the battleground states to make sure the democrats don't cheat. This is the reality of voting in the US. I'm getting to the point where I wish Texas would purge the democrats and secede.

Well we use a simple system where paper ballots are marked clearly and they're done in a way that it's fairly hard NOT to mark them correctly (some choose to deliberately spoil theirs as a message),  and then members of each party are allowed to oversee the counting of each individual ballot and no ballot is discarded without everyone agreeing or it being set aside for an official, and ALL ballots including discards are kept so that if necessary a judge will be asked to do a recount (under observation) and the results are official.   And any scruitineer can call shenannigans if they saw something inappropriate and trigger an official judicial recount if warranted.

And we just don't have massive lawsuits over hanging chads, or voter machine controversies or errors or any of that nonsense and that's despite the fact it's not uncommon to see a riding won by ONE VOTE, or even a couple dozen votes.

It just seems like there must be a way where everyone  can agree that it's hard to beat the system and faith can be restored.   Instead you've got a system where 8 millino people just happen to show up during a mail in ballot frenzy due to covid and then vanish next election and even if that really is legit NOBODY is going to have actual faith that it is.

It can't go on, it'll be the death of american democracy.
