He lost because the NDP went over to the liberals and the polling and and results show that extremely clearly. While conservatives had taken a number of the younger NDP voters last year, the remainder went to the liberals this time. It is true that Quebec definitely played a role in the liberal victory and you could certainly look at it that way. But outside of Quebec the conservatives actually did very well in almost every province, not The Atlantics as much. They certainly made strong headway in ontario Anytime you get 41% you had a good showing. In this case there was a one in a billion circumstance that let Kearney have an advantage that I don't think anyone could have beaten. He became prime minister without a single vote and was able to translate that into looking like he could handle trump the best.
