Deluge Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 We'll be just fine. We're not the dipshits making all that crap that's sitting in the ports. https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/new-atlanticist/china-is-ready-to-eat-bitterness-in-the-trade-war-what-about-the-us/ Quote
SpankyMcFarland Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 (edited) First off, who is the ‘we’ here? This is a Canadian forum. Next, consider another example of the bitterness diet. Three years ago Putin launched an entirely unnecessary invasion of his neighbour that he thought would end rapidly. Three years later Russia has suffered a vast number of killed and wounded and yet the war continues because one man wants it to. Next door the Grand Pooh-Bah runs a totalitarian state, controlling every aspect of life, that has been hit by tariffs from a foreign president. His party predecessors oversaw the deaths of millions of their citizens. I don’t have a crystal ball but I’m guessing he’s willing and able to wait a while. Edited May 3 by SpankyMcFarland Quote

We'll see how the people of China take it, as I'm sure their leaders will be fine regardless of what happens. Like I said, we'll be just fine. Quote

Like I said, we'll be just fine. Not if it goes on too long. Do not be mistaken in thinking this doesn't hurt America as well. The danger here is that two hard-headed people will dig in just leave things the way they are forever. Which is in some ways how we got the first great depression. At some point one of these two is going to have to make a move I look for a resolution. You can't just stay gridlock forever like this it does a lot of damage to the united states economy and china's and it increases the chances of hostility in that region just as boycotts and tariffs on Japan led to world war II. This is not without consequence. For either party. I'm a little concerned with the exit strategy is going to turn out to be and even more concerned that they don't have one Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data

Just the other day I was asking myself what if China says f*ck it and attacks? I don't want to wait it out either, but if we have to, we'll do better than they will. Quote
