Failure of democracy in America: it did not happen suddenly

There were warnings, harbingers, symptoms and signs:

The takeover of the Republican party by MAGA, an authoritarian personality cult is quite unprecedented in the modern history. In the early 20s of the last century, Hitler and his circle established their party on the base of marginals and radicals. In contrast, the Republican party in the USA had a long, and as we thought, stable and reliable democratic tradition. The more astounding and fascinating to observe, in real time its complete decay and demise in such a short, in historical perspective, time.

The catastrophic term and nomination of Joe Biden by the Democratic party. Biden wanted to rule like he's some master of the destiny, the time itself. Critical, existential challenges? Who cares, I want to rule like it's the blissful 1990s and who's there to tell me otherwise. What, the reality? Get lost! Then he fell half asleep before the critical job was done, and couldn't be reached by any reason or facts. A failure, and possibly the final one.

The decay of democracy touched and affected all parts of the political system. It was a general slow unraveling, then a fall, degradation of the system as a whole. And the citizens couldn't care less. And the society watched it in a complete detachment and complacency. That was the main reason of everything we're seeing these days and all what's going to transpire. I see not a small, but no chance of it coming back together again. Where could such magic be found?
