xul Posted February 16 Report Posted February 16 No more additional contents needed. The video below explains everything:đ LIVE: Canada First Rally I was wondering if there is any conservative politician who can invent a political policy by himself rather than being a copycat of someone in Washington without knowing the difference between Canada and US? As a country which population is only 40 million, copying from Trump is just like Mussolini tried to copy from Hitler to conquer the world. It isn't feasible at all. 1 1 Quote
xul Posted February 17 Author Report Posted February 17 I think some conservative politicians need to watch this video: You can see Zelenskyy almost cried when he was asked that Vance didn't mention Ukraine at all in his speech. And if you watch the whole interview, you will find there were a couple of times you can see the light reflection of tears in his eyes. Being a loyal servant of US isn't always a well-paid job after all. Â Quote
Zeitgeist Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 (edited) Trumpâs hubris is a softer version of Putinâs and the mistake of all dictators or âstrong manâ leaders, which is to make top down decisions that treat people at the grassroots level like pawns in a chess match. The only true democracy is one that prioritizes decision-making at the local level.  Did the people of eastern Ukraine want to be part of Russia or Ukraine or independent?  When does a foreign power have the right to invade another sovereign country?  Unless thereâs a clear threat to the security of the invading country, for example in retaliation for an attack, thereâs seldom a good reason for an unelected power to impose authority on a population. Ukraine is complicated in that the Crimea used to be part of Russia.  So was some of eastern Ukraine.  Whatâs more, Russia had significant military assets in the Crimea.  The Western powers further complicated matters by trying to manipulate the governance of Ukraine and reneging on assurances that NATO wouldnât spread east. Now the U.S. has to avoid making the same mistake of ignoring the will of the local populations in Ukraine as well as the countries surrounding it. If the U.S. acts unilaterally and doesnât share responsibility, it carries the sole weight of responsibility if its resolutions fail.  Thatâs the point of having allies and using alliances.  In seeking to go it alone, the U.S. is actually taking greater risks to its own security and standing. There were good reasons why NATO formed after WW2. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, there was an opportunity to include Russia in a genuine alliance, which likely wouldâve enshrined greater democracy in Russia and greater security in Eastern Europe, without threat of invasion.  Instead the imperial pissing contests continue. All eggs go in the great power China, US, Russia baskets, which makes the smaller powers outside them subject to dominance and proxy wars.  Itâs stupid and unnecessary. The tariff war is part of the same movement on the economic front.  It instills a race for greater power militarily and greater economic independence because no one can count on the great powers adhering to rules or agreements. Europe, for all its dysfunction, can be a counter weight. The Commonwealth and other political and economic alliances can be counter weights.  The UN is at the mercy of the vetoes of the permanent members of the Security Council, a few of which are those great powers.  Edited February 17 by Zeitgeist 1 Quote
