August1991 Posted September 10, 2024 Report Posted September 10, 2024 In my experience, debates are largely downside. Candidates don't win a debate - the other candidate loses. I can't imagine anything that Trump will say tonight that means he will lose votes. Harris may say something tonight that will nix her chances to win. Quote
August1991 Posted September 10, 2024 Author Report Posted September 10, 2024 In Canada, we say that newcomers don't win; incumbents lose elections. ==== Debates? In 1979, desperate, Trudeau Snr agreed to debate Clark. I recall Trudeau saying "Mr. Clark, you're not on top of your dossiers." Trudeau won the debate. lost the election but saved the furniture. gatomontes99 Posted September 10, 2024 Report Posted September 10, 2024 Elections are about soundbites and snapshots. Whomever has the best line that makes the other look bad will have a big advantage. That said, there is very little she can say that will make him look bad. Most of his "problems" are largely believed to be political attacks from the WH. He can, however, point to her flip flopping. I would love his opening statement to say something like "The most exciting debate tonight will be between Harris today and Harris last year." Quote Don't you think that if I were wrong that I would know it?

No ONE flip flops more than Trump, but you've been fooled by MEDIA SANE-WASHING. Quote
NAME REMOVED Posted September 11, 2024 Report Posted September 11, 2024 I can't see anything significant happening. I wish Obama or even Jesse Ventura were debating Trump. I would pay to see that. Quote
gatomontes99 Posted September 11, 2024 Report Posted September 11, 2024 I hope Trump asks Harris about why she was at the DNC on J6. Quote Don't you think that if I were wrong that I would know it?
