Forgetting the knives Asians use in the kitchen that cut the food into small pieces for you. Put a 12oz slab of steak or whole Thanksgiving turkey in front of one. For that matter have a head shake at the white person eating a KFC drumstick with a knife and fork. Quote

herbie Posted September 28, 2024 Report Posted September 28, 2024 And many cultures eat their rice with spoons or their fingers. So what? Big pieces you have to cut up aren't part of their culture. Quote

The cook could cut it all up before it's served and none is required. Big chunks are a cultural thing, showing your guests food is plentiful. In other cultures that is expressed with variety of dishes, not size like hunks of meat and whole uncut potatoes. Never been to an Asian's house? Multiple dishes, differing flavours, textures of food. Comparable banquet of food. 100x better than a knife to go along with a whole chicken breast, boiled potato and frozen veggies.... They rarely if ever understand irony. ===== But we Europeans (Westerners) use knives to eat. Quote
