newbie Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Is this just more spin in the no-spin zone? http://mediamatters.org/items/200602220007 Now, it's a small little thing, but I picked up on it, because here is the essential problem in Iraq. There are so many nuts in the country -- so many crazies -- that we can't control them. And I don't -- we're never gonna be able to control them. So the only solution to this is to hand over everything to the Iraqis as fast as humanly possible. Because we just can't control these crazy people. This is all over the place. And that was the big mistake about America: They didn't -- it was the crazy-people underestimation. We did not know how to deal with them -- still don't. But they're just all over the place. Quote

Montgomery Burns Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Who cares what O'Reilly says? He's a pundit, ffs! He isn't that popular among conservatives and he hardly speaks for the Republican Party. I like it that he tackles issues - in the No Spin Zone - that the liberal media ignores, but he uses quite a bit of hyperbole. Ann Coulter does the same but she is sharper (and funnier) than O'Reilly. Watch Hannity & Colmes instead. Sean Hannity is much better than O'Reilly--he mows down the liberals that have the courage to appear on H&C. I watched it tonight and Al Sharpton was defending Harry Belafonte's "Bush is a terrorist" remark. Even Alan Colmes was disappointed in Sharpton's "free speech" defense. Nowhere on TV news can you get diversity and compelling debate like on the Fox News Channel. It's not that hard to understand why it gets such excellent ratings. One liberal vs one conservative. Two liberals vs two conservatives. I admit that their host/pundits lean to the right but there are some liberals too. However, their panels are almost always 50/50. And they didn't have 2 Bush campaign advisors hosting a show, like CNN had Paul Begala and James Carville (both Kerry campaign advisors) hosting Crossfire. Here's an example of a "fair and balanced panel" that I saw on Chris Matthews' show on Sunday: 4 liberals, 0 conservatives. A half hour of criticizing Bush. You'd a loved it. For a second, I thought I was watching our state-run CBC. Quote "Anybody who doesn't appreciate what America has done, and President Bush, let them go to hell!" -- Iraqi Betty Dawisha, after dropping her vote in the ballot box, wields The Cluebat™ to the anti-liberty crowd on Dec 13, 2005. "Call me crazy, but I think they [iraqis] were happy with thier [sic] dumpy homes before the USA levelled so many of them" -- Gerryhatrick, Feb 3, 2006.
BubberMiley Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 O'Reilly is a coward who, like many chickenhawks, never served in the military. It's no surprise that they want to cut and run when they realize they have a real fight on their hands. The only thing more immoral than the invasion and war to begin with would be for them to chicken out now when the chaos they instigated is too much for them to handle. What if staying is causing more problems and violence - as John Murtha points out? The is it not immoral to stay? If the US leaving would remove a major cause of violence, then what is moral about staying?
