1. Harper refused to give further Palestinean aid unless the Hamass governemnt renounces violence, accepts Isreal's right to exist, and uphold the peace process.

And the scarry thing is that he will do this by order in council bypassing a parlimentary vote of which he is supposed to be the champion.

Hmmm, nothing mentioned in any of those articles about order-in-council.

The Kyoto and Gun Registry issues will definitely face Parliament.

If that is the scarriest (or scariest) thing Harper does than it just shows how sad the cries of scary, scary, scary have become.

So far, so good PM Harper!

You had better be right because it was under the table deals that got the liberals into such a mess and we don't need anymore double dealing like that.

Kyoto isn't all its cracked up to be. I'm surprised that the NDP and Green Party champion it so much. If countries can buy and sell polution credits, the whole point of Kyoto is undermined from the start.

Good job by 'scary on the environment' Harper.

This should show the people in this forum who think Harper is a scary person, that he is not. He is already ready to keep promises it took the Liberals ten years to even consider.

Congradulations Mr. Prime Minister

Shoop... you know as well as I that nothing truely scary will happen until he gets a majority.... the opposition will hold them in check until then.

So far its plan A - don't say anything stupid until we can implement Plan B.

My favourite Harper moves are Emerson and Fortier. Now there's the democratic process at work. I mean telling people to get out and vote then telling them ... ooops, well you didn't vote the way you should have so I have to rectify that. Yep, like I said, sure is good for getting people out to vote next time.

And during the election campaign he said he wanted an elected Senate and then he appoints Fortier. Really, under the constitution if Fortier decides he wants to stay a Senator (or he fails to get elected to a riding) he can stay a Senator for as long as he wants.

Oh, and hey ... look at the Minister of Defense. A former lobbyist for a company that stands to gain immensely by Harper's new plan for a revitalized military.

Michael Chong as the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Sports since he does not speak french, and ... well, he was the IT man for the NHL for awhile, doesn't have a university degree but worked for Canadian Tire. Maybe at the return desk? Imminently qualifies him, yep, yep, yep.

Other favourites are: Diane Ablonczy, Jason Kinney and Jay Hill not getting into Cabinet. Ok, I realize that the Ambrose woman is way better looking than Ablonczy and that she has to make up for the lack of women appointed.

Deepak Obrai, an Edmonton MP, was named Parliamentary secretary to the minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. East meets west? Peter van Loan from York was named a second PS to this minister. Central meets east?

Unilingual english Alberta MP Ted Menzies was sworn in on Monday as parliamentary secretary to la Francophonie and Official Languages Minister Josee Verner. He was also made parliamentary secretary to the minister of international co-operation.

Yay! Jim Abbott was named Parliamentary Secretary for the Status of `Women.

And don't forget Garth Turner. Harper has hauled him onto the carpet because he spoke out against Emerson and Fortier and now is expecting a latrine for an office, because he bought into what Harper said about MPs having more say and saying their conscience. Turner was the only Conservative MP with previous overnment

experience not to be named to cabinet or a parliamentary secretary position.

Gawd, I love Harper! He's da man!

Uhhh, the ire of the electorate at the party would lead to heavy moral suasion for Fortier to step down on the part of Harper.

Methinks thou art a silver-spoon socialist. Are you saying a university degree is a pre-requisite for being in cabinet? Is that in the constitution or just your fantasy world?

Other favourites are: Diane Ablonczy, Jason Kinney and Jay Hill not getting into Cabinet. Ok, I realize that the Ambrose woman is way better looking than Ablonczy and that she has to make up for the lack of women appointed.

Just how many members of cabinet from Calgary would you want? Harper and Prentice made two. Kenny and Abloncsy would have made four. *That* would have gone over well in Ontario. Ambrose also happens to be the only cabinet member from Edmonton.

Deepak Obrai, an Edmonton MP, was named Parliamentary secretary to the minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.

Actually Deepak is from Calgary.

And don't forget Garth Turner. Turner was the only MP to through a public tantrum because he didn't get into cabinet. (A tantrum which started *before* the naming of the parliamentary secretaries.

Gawd, I love Harper! He's da man!

Actually sounds to me like you are filled with irrational hate for Harper. At least be accurate when ranting about him.

How can I hate Harper when he is so entertaining? I predict many more hours of such entertainment. And why do you seem to be filled with what seems like irrational rage for someone just for pointing these high points out?

At least be accurate when ranting about him.

Big whoop. Calgary, not Edmonton. Still is from the prairies, Alberta to be exact. How accurate is THAT for ya?

Yeah, that tends to show your ignorance right there. They are both among the six biggest cities in Canada. Too bad you can't give them any respect.

Big whoop. Calgary, not Edmonton. Still is from the prairies, Alberta to be exact. How accurate is THAT for ya?

Your silence on the snottiness about Michael Chong and Garth's tantrum is defeaning?

You never did answer this one. How would four cabinet ministers from Calgary have gone over in the rest of the country?

You can't really call me irrational for point out the flaws in your thinking? Well, you can't do it *rationally* at least.

I smell a big load of Eastern ignorance here.

You must be from Ottawa, nope, Toronto, nope Windsor... still from central Canada, Ontario to be exact... How accurate does that sound for your ignorance?

Your belief that Edmonton and Calgary are essientially the same pretty much draws zero crediability to the rest of your comments, but I'll discuss some things anyways.

Who would be a better sport minister? Does anyone else have sports background? Nope. I'm sure you'd like Ken Dryden, the goalie turned Child Care expert on that in a hurry right?

Since when does a university degree give you some divine knowledge and special status? I know just as many ignorant idiots with degrees than without. In fact, I'd like to have some people with some real experience in cabinet instead of a bunch of people that have never had to work a day in their life.

Emerson was elected to serve his riding and he is. You don't elect a party in Canada, if you don't like it, well tough shit move someone else.

I'll agree with your comments on Fortier, though Montreal should be happy to get some representation. It's funny how stupid some Canadians to be to reject a cabinet minister in favour of a backbencher from another party. Oh well, personally I think we should just screw Montreal and Vancouver and leave them out from government for their ungrateful stupidity!

No university degree?

Worked for ... some autoparts company?

Wow, he sounds a lot like our previous Minister of Human Resources and Democratic Renewal!

Ambrose is just there because she's a woman and because she's good looking? You do realize this makes you look like a total asshole, right?

I can hardly wait until the "progressives" start accusing her of sleeping her way to the top.

Agreed! Ambrose is probably one of the hardest working MP's there, I've had the pleasure to meet her and she's very intelligent and dedicated to her job.

I don't think the 'progressives' will touch that issue, it won't do their cause any good.

Hey, you guys don't get to debate my favourite things that Harper has done. You asked, I answered. Just like you can't debate my favourite fruit or pair of shoes. And you can't debate my supreme amusement at this big CHANGE we were supposed to see only to see the ho-hum same thing as always. You can disagree and come off looking like partisan Harpercrites, since Harper condemned the same actions he is now taking when the Liberals did them. Too funny! You don't like my answers so you attack me. Now that's a good Conservative way.

Uhhh aren't message boards for debate?

Let's count your follies.

1. You disregard Rona Ambrose's qualifications and chalk up her appointment due to her looks.

2. You wrongly state that Deepak Obhrai is from Edmonton and arrogantly brush it off because "Edmonton and Calgary are both prairie cities." wtf?

3. You talk down to the majority of Canadians who do not have university educations and belittle the hardworking employees of Canadian Tire in attacking Michael Chong.

Hmmm, this appears to be taking fault with how weak your *answers* are.

Nice false cheap shot against Conservatives.

Please try and not post such weak stuff next time around. Kinda tedious dealing with petty insults that are so easily discredited.

Gawd, me too, glad you see it my way. BTW, Harper has to abide by current parliamentry rules and process until he is able to make the required legal changes. I am happy that he has at least forwarded the policy as much as was appropriate or possible at this time.

In a minority government it is their only chance of survival unless they want to end up like Joe

Clark.

I'd like to see this gratuitous, sexist comment withdrawn. It's not that is does a disservice to the smart and capable Ambrose, or denigrates Ablonczy, but implies that women in general are appointed simply for the optics.

Withdraw, sir!

The government should do something.
