shoop
It is amazing how quickly people convert to supporting the CPC based on profession and/or region of the country they live in. Soon enough the CPC hegemony will rival the heady majorities of Diefenbaker and Mulroney. You're going into law enforcement? Interesting...Call me when you discover the CPC... Well I'm from an Roman Cathloic Upper-Middle class family, in a staunchly Conservative riding.. and yet I have different views. Simply because I join the blue tide (of police) , does not mean I'll join the other blue tide.

Simply because I join the blue tide (of police) , does not mean I'll join the other blue tide. Sounds like my story, except that I have joined the blue tide. I am even currently thinking about the law enforcement path too, just I don't think I'll ever get into the areas I'd like so I'm probably scapping that plan (how many people can they possibly have in economic crime??), wouldn't want to be stuck as a street cop forever... You'll be a conservative soon enough moving out here and being a police officer (RCMP I'm assuming?)...

Lots of local police forces doing lots of hiring in the next 5 years, so after I get out of schoo next year, I'll be officially in the applicant pool. Calgary is definetly hiring, so is Ottawa(lol where i am..), Peel, OPP.. just about everywhere. I'd rather not go the RCMP route if possible. I'm from a middle class Roman Catholic family as well but I live in a red Liberal riding (people on Montreal's West Island may have heard of the CPC but all I know is that they won't vote Conservative...EVER... ) It would seem to me if you were a cop you'd have more conservative views on defence and crime. I'm not saying you'll become real right-wing like many CPCers...just that you'll become a bit less socialist. I knew a few people who were cops and pretty moderate with their politics. Yet they got pissed off after seeing the same easy sentences from left-wing judges who they argued were pampered and elitist and never EVER on the street dealing with crime. They said, "we deal with these people screwing around with drugs, muggings, vandalism every week and the judge releases them ASAP... next night they're out screwing around again...it's bull." Neither the Libs nor the NDP is tough on crime. I think you may soon embrace CPC elements (I was still pretty leftist when I was in university... )
Canuck Monk
I nominate Nute Gunray as Liberal leader with Poggle the Lesser as deputy leader.

I think you may soon embrace CPC elements (I was still pretty leftist when I was in university... ) I know what you are saying, and to be perfectly honest, you are probably right. The only thing that bothers me, is this politcal "lets get tough on crime" line. What does that even mean?!! How you can you get tough on a problem that is inherently tougher than the laws designed to address it?! What they are really saying, is : Lets get more police officers, and lets give judges stricter sentencing guidelines, and make more severe re-offending sentences. What that amounts to is a more severe justice system , not a "tougher" one. Lol.. its a pet peeve.. what i can say.. lol
shoop
I don't think many voters are going to make that fine of a distinction. Parties can't write their policy planks in order to appeal to people who have majored in the a given field in university. What that amounts to is a more severe justice system , not a "tougher" one. Lol.. its a pet peeve.. what i can say.. lol

What is your take on Mr. Harris of Ontario, he ran his compaign on a Common Sense Revelution and one of the main thrusts of it was a strong vein to frighten senior citizens about the so called fact that we had a lot of crime. Well he had ten years and now gun crime in Toronto is rampant. So what good did he do?
Spike22
This just in...Sven Robinson will cross the floor to the liberals. Scott Brison and he will wed and co-lead the party to harmonious bliss where they will paint the town of Ottawa a lovely shade of pink and periwinkle. Tax breaks will be issued for those males enrolled in ballet and fashion classes.
